35 years ago ,crime was almost unheard of....a murder was page 1 of the papers...
Today we get 4 or 5 a week ...only if we are really lucky....and most of it done by gangs of people that came here from abroad.....
Get your head from under your ass and you may see the reality of the "diversity".... | |

Just that nobody should follow the example of Canada and let almost everybody in, without background checks.... Until very recently, the only way to get here and stay, for a couple of years at least, was to ask for political refuge....and people were ripping their passports up and throwing them down the toilets....with the result that we had no idea who they were...and all kinds of criminals got in...
And now, we are paying the price !!!!!! | |

It is proven throughout american history that quite a few immigrants have saved us through their ambition and intelligence and in turn we give them freedom, a safe place to raise a family etc. Einstein was not from USA. Now with this new closed border opinion we will be just left with the government cheese people.
We can't blame the immigrants totally, its greed and lack of caring that is causing all these problems. Companies are constantly trying to cut costs no matter who suffers. The bottom line is all that matters.
We are competing globally and we aren't so special anymore. So our salaries reflect that. We are thinned out. Why pay an engineer 80,000 in USA when you can pay one in India for 30,000. Then what you have are very wealthy corporate owners that our getting a deal for going overseas. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer and then the poor start stealing and they lose education then they start having teen babies and then they start taking drugs and beating up their neighbors because they just don't know any better. People are getting poorer and dumber. The rich then look at this mess and they say Man "Who started all this!" "Why is all this happening" What America needs are more people that care about each other instead of caring about what Britney Spears pants look like and what kind of rims my car has.

Canadian immigration is tough.
Its a longwinded process.
My brother and his wife have applied 12 months ago and they are still waiting to hear.
They are both graduates from the UK...very well qualified.
Need to have medical and police checks before anything else.
Need references.
Took 6 months to provide the correct paperwork.
Now....we get African(mainly) asylumseekers here and they do the same...rip papers up etc
But we blame the govt,not the persons.
Ours is a small country with a big population.
Your two countries are entirely different.
You are ALL immigrants except for the Native Americans.
So your preaching does not still too well here.
You have a strict immigration policy that was strengthened AFTER letting you TWO IN....now stop complaining and alter the immigration policy or asylum policy.
But coming from US and Canadian immigrants like you two are......is a bit rich. | |

Try finding statistics that track murders over the long term. I found one site that listed 64 total murders in Toronto for the year, but I am not sure if the year was 2002, 2003 or 2004.
You live in a little island, with a handful of people, but you know what's happening in the big city?

I have lived in Toronto, and I either walked or used public transportation everytime I went somewhere, day and night. Never once did I encounter a dangerous situation. | |

Well, actually, according to the Toronto Star, the Toronto (and Ottawa) Sun, the Globe and Mail, Global news, CBC Newsworld, the Ottawa Citizen, and the National Post, there have been, what? Somewhere in the ballpark of under 50 murders in Toronto this year. That's been an average of under 2 a week.
Toronto, according to most of the above news agencies (the only ones to discuss it), Toronto doesn't even have the highest murder rate in Canada (straight numbers and per capita).
A vast majority of the murders are being committed by people born in Canada... | |

It's an age where many peoplpe can hop on a plane and go arround the world,...something not all that long ago that could be done by only two groups,...the rich,...who could afford to globe trott even then although by boat it took a lot longer,...
and immigrants,...many of whom used their last nickle to take a chance on a new land,...
They didn;t even have a way out if it turned out later to be a bad idea,....
Now with a click of this computer I can,...watch someone feed the ducks as they are doing it in real time on the other side of the world,...Boggles my mind that does,...
and we are a globe trotting society even among the not so rich,....that means take all kinds of risks,...risks that one of your missing 4500 sex offenders could be a neighbour of mine,...and that someone visiting home could bring back a plauge,....
way back when you couldn't travel anywhere without immunization documentation,....well not today,...so move on,....we all take risks every day but if all you see is danger,...and eveil,...
Then you will miss a lot of life,....your choice,....you want to start living or what?

I never blamed it on the people, it's the goverment at fault.....but to change the system...?
You will have to understand first that canadians are a bunch of heart bleeding liberals that don't want to make waves, wish to be loved, are always politically correct, etc etc...
And since most immigrants have families back home thay want to bring over, it's to the advantage of the political parties, the main ones, anyway, to make it easier for them, so this people remember to go vote during elections.... to make changes would alienate them and why risk losing their votes....
