Posted: 9/26/2005 6:04:05 AM | I do not know which is worse - a fake picutre or no picture at all. The former has a real credibility problem if it ever came to the "first meet" and the latter, who fails to provide any picture at all, is suspect to be "hiding something" albeit married, fake profile, or any other valid reason one can come up with for a "no show".
And if your only shopping the top 500 because "they look good" according to a myriad of other people who are voting without any set criteria - then one has wonder where common sense fits into this search pattern.
External gratification is easy on the "eye" during youth and lust - but tis the soul that forms the baseline for a lifetime.
The system is "flawed" folks - thats just how it is "internet" dating. And on a "free" site where there is limited resources to deal with fraudulent "advertising" - you have to assume that fraud will be found in the pool under the Bell Curve.
All is just not fair in love and war................

Really? Would you think the picture of me on my profle is fake? It's legit on my profile but several weeks ago someone snatched it and used it on their's. Could you have spotted that from a mile off? To think that only professionally done shots or obvious photoshop creations/ modifications are the only fakes here is to set yourself up for prblems down the road... | |

I use to chat and I found another female chatter who stole my whole profile, along with my glam shot that I had posted. Of course, it upset me, as I already have an identical twin, but I had to laugh and think that she is the one who will eventually get hurt when she did finally meet someone and didn't look anything like me...lol. Besides, it isn't all that special being me...lol. So sad....lol. | |

The ten things wrong with my picture in my profile:
1. My picture is not taken in my bedroom, on my bed, or in my lacy PJ's
2. I am not pictured wearing a string bikini
3. I am not pictured taking my pants down to reveal my thong
4. I have not arched my back to produce a bust line of 48" dangling precariously
5. I obviously did not know the 10 ways to wear nothing in a profile pic and get away with it
6. I am not pictured wearing a push up bra, a tank top and hanging off a stripper pole
7. I am not pictured bare chested with biceps bulging all over (and thank heavens for that)
8. I am not laying sensuously prostrated across the bow of a yacht in the Mediterranean
9. I forgot to have the picture taken of me in my string bikini and my dog
10. I am not claiming an average age of 23 with a touched up photograph

Even if the pic is fake you can bet that ppl will vote low on them simply because they can and will. I think the bigger problem is not in the voting area but in the actual trying to meet someone. Who wants to waste there time talking to someone they think is a woman or a man but is realy the opposet. Have to ignor the stupid ppl and just keep having fun. yeppers

I guess after reading the responses I've come to the realization that you just can't stop it. So the answer is to ask for more proof or a web cam. Cams right now are less then $30 for a cheap one. Posted: 9/30/2005 6:08:29 PM | The most you can do on the internet is judge the photo, not the person's actual appearance. Some people are more photogenic, or they go to the trouble of having touched up pro photos. Just look at a Maxim mag. The photos are obviously not natural.
On another free site, I noticed that some of my "friends" photos were not genuine. I called her (him?) on it but did not threaten to expose the person. No matter, she deleted me from her friends list anyway, after sending a rather defensive e-mail to me!
All part of the game, I guess. | |

Posted: 10/1/2005 6:56:33 AM | web cam can be a better way to authenticate the accuracy of the profile picture. Of course - there are going to be the Trolls that still, even on Cam, continue to "play games" with the assistance of a co-conspirator.
And, also, you men have to understand the number of times, in any given day, that women are approached on the internet by the "lets cam" line. No, they are not looking to chat at all - they are either looking for a free peep show (if they can con you into just lifting that shirt just this one time) or they are pure exhibitionists. Yes, you in all your trust agree to "cam" and up pops a penis in a full close-up shot and, sometimes, if the exhibitionist is "lucky" you are privy to an organism if his "timing" is right. Trolls should be castrated!
So, like many other women, the cam is retired in the corner. Where it sits, forlorn but safely in the "off" position. On that "option" I just plumb gave up.
So its back to "square one".
