| Interacial relationships Posted: 2/22/2005 9:03:08 PM | well politically is not for the birds it is for people with class............. and compassion for others.
It was embarrassing as a child listening to people make judgements of people based on the color of their skin Now that I am old enough to have an opinion I put those people in their place who continue to discriminate cause it is an old idea
and those who say racist stuff never show there face cause they know it is an old idea
If anyone wants to tell me why racism is a valid concept in 2005 ........ you know where to find me

| Interacial relationships Posted: 2/23/2005 8:53:45 AM | friends...i'm guilty of that, too!
but i find it's not so much the colour of skin for my fellow brown people that i find distasteful, instead, it's more a cultural and contextual dislike. i realize i am a racist when it comes to this but can't overcome my general feeling of never wanting to be involved with anyone of the same ethnic origin as myself. ALL of the men i have met or known who share my ethnicity have done nothing to dissuade me of my opinion on this.
however, i'm all for interracial relationships...my son is half swedish and all the men i have ever been in a relationships have all been of a different colour than myself!!!!

| Interacial relationships Posted: 2/23/2005 3:27:02 PM | if I blend right into the wall... so you barely can see me at all... would that prevent a fall? or make a difference if I sit or stand tall? would that make me better or worse to be noticed or downright invisible? if I had my mouth sewn would I ever be known? would it make this world love me more? if I never even played... how could I ever top score?
who would that gain? and who should I blame? me for conceding? even if my inside's bleeding? well...truth is I am alive mutual respect my only drive

| Just something to think about Posted: 2/23/2005 10:47:12 PM | Moses married an ethopian woman in the bible, I can give you exact scripture if you would like, will have to look it up but know it is in exodus, anyway, his brother Arron and Sister Meriam spoke against him for it, and God gave them both leporsy for speaking against him.. Red, and yellow black and white they are precious in his sight..Just my 2cents worth.. I think skin is skin, to each his own..If God is okay with it, are we better than God..I have never dated a black man but would if I were dating and met one I was interested in and vice versa..Not trying to offend just sharing my thoughts.. | |

| Just something to think about Posted: 2/24/2005 12:03:10 AM | ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ you should not be offended you speak the truth
the only people that you may offend are the racists and they have no problem offending others

| Interacial relationships Posted: 2/24/2005 8:42:08 AM | In a perfect world it should boil down like this:Money is green, blood is red,p*ssy is pink.Any questions?Yet I think racism and prejudice will always be with us unfortunately so you have to think about that if you decide to get involved with someone not of your race.Back when I was in hgih school it was the 70's.Racial tensions were still somewhat high as I went to a school that was in a predominantly white neighborhood in an industrial area of good old working class southern white folk(ironically now that same area of town is almost all black).I remember one nieghbor who left apologizing to us when she moved for selling her house to a black family.Actually the black family made for better nieghbors as her husband had a big CB radio antennae that caused interference on all of the electronic equipment in the house(azzhole was always on the darn thing when my favorite shows were on TV)so I was happy when they moved. In that environment I briefly dated a black girl. To make a long story short,it started out as a friendly thing.I got to be friends with her family, especially her dad,and later she and I became fuk buddies. We kept it fairly low key but didn't go out of our way to hide it as we went to several movies together and such and were seen in public by some of the more racist kids in school.Fortunatley we weren't serious enough about each other to cause a real problem but it was apparent to both of us that it could've gotten ugly. You have to weigh these things in the balence.Sure it would be great if we could all do our own thing and say to hell with what racist azzholes think, but racists can be in areas of our lives that can influence us.I've known of people suffering not being able to rent or buy property because they're a mixed couple and being denied loans and such.Such is illegal but if a person doesn't want you in their neighborhood or wants you to suffer because they don't like your choice of mate, they can make it happen regardless of the law. | |

So I am lucky we do not have stories like that
It is the people of the south got really stupid and thought having slaves was a really good idea.
Now hundreds of years later some of the less socially developed ones continue holding on to the racist crap

Learn your history. It wasn't the southern US that invented slavery.Slavery started long before there was an America. In the early colonial days slavery was a part of American life in both the north and the south. If you look objectively at the issue of slavery you will find it was primarily Arabs who were mainly responsible for the African slave trade. Moreover stronger tribes over ran the weaker tribes, enslaved them and then in turn sold the slaves to the Europeans.
The issue of slavery was the statesman's argument in the American Cival War.It was not the issue that motivated men to carry muskets into battle. My great grandfather who fought on the Confederate side in the 7 th Georgia Regiment was not fighting for slavery. The Confederate soldier went into battle to protect his homeland from what he considered foriegn invaders. The Union soldier wasn't fighting for the rights of the black man (unless it was the African American soldier who fought for the Union). He was fighting to maintain the Union. Slavery benifitted less than 6% of the southern American populace. It was an institution that would've probably faded out with the advent of the industrial revolution. Also many Native Americans joined the Confederate side in hopes that if they won, they would've gotten a better deal from the Confederacy than the empty promises offered by the Union. It would behoove you to learn your history before you say something like,"The south got stupid and made black people slaves".Prior to the mid 19 th century the majority of white Europeans, those that had even seen a black person, believed that black people were not quite human. There were great theological debates among clergy about whether or not black people had souls.Having said that,it's easy to see why it took so long for folks in the US to view them in a different light and accept them as equal. Not that that excuses them, but it's understandable given the attitude of the time. Racism in the US is not a southern anomaly. In fact I know many non white friends of mine,African Americans,Hispanics, etc who say they ran across more racism in the midwest than in the deep south. The south has indeed suffered for the wrongs done to the black man in the days prior to cival rights. The economies of Georgia,Alabama,Mississippi and others are slowly just now recovering from the fact that for so long the black population was ignored by the business and government communities.Racism is alive and well today but it doesn't exist only in the deep south. It exists wherever genus species homo sapien lives and breathes.
