__The attendance was light but the quality of the ones who showed up made up for it.

Remember, it's not my fault!!! I just took the bull by the horns and we saw the result of that.
I would hope to see the start of some socializing in Victoria although I am not overly optimistic.

Posted: 10/2/2005 1:21:43 PM | Well I didn't stay long but there were some friendly people there. We'll definately have to try it again sometime. I'm guessing it was the timing more than anything else....packed in between two Nanaimo parties. Victoria is a great town and there are lots of people from here on POF - many of them don't come into the forums though so we'll have to do some more active recruiting next time.
Thanks Maven, you put the word out and got the ball rolling....the fishies just were'nt biting last night.
The fundraiser I went to afterwards had more people but it was pretty tame. Seemed as if the whole town was down at the Sticky Wicket last night. Huge line-ups like I've never seen before. | |

Posted: 10/2/2005 4:57:46 PM | That might be a little intimidating if you hadn't met one or more of the group first....I personally would be up to go socialize with the people I had already met, but would be a little hesitant about joining a group of people who all know each other.
There were some fish who showed up last night and then sat at the bar and wouldn't join the POF group because they "didn't know anyone"!!! I am not sure how they figured they were going to know people without actually saying HELLO!
What I would like to see happen in Victoria is a range of events....from pub to karaoke to bowling to ladies who lunch or whatever....make the point just to come out and MIX and MINGLE!! No expectations, no forced "party" atmosphere.... | |

Different events seems like a great idea. I'm still convinced that there are plenty of folks who want to come out and get together. Picking the right venue at a time when there aren't too many other things going on and getting the word out should do the trick.
We've got the halloween thing going on...let's put our energies towards that for the time being. Costume hmmmm? | |

Posted: 10/2/2005 11:54:04 PM | Okay Doc, in a hundred maybe! LOL I refuse to take credit for anything other than getting out for an evening with "strangers" (although I don't think any were stranger than me).
I hope to see someone get something happening. No matter what day/time/month/year, it will never be a perfect venue for everyone. Let's just see stuff happening and when it works, well people can sign up and get together.
This event had numerous short comings, not enough time and people were all over the map for times. I think no matter what event gets posted, people have to sign up for the time and the place that is there. Makes it easier for the venue and "sucker" who posts it! hehehehehehe
All in all I am happy to have met the people I did, and when something comes up that I might enjoy, I will go out there again.

__Would anyone be interested in a "coffee club"? A weekly gathering at a local (Victoria) coffee shop, on weekday evening. We would like a core group of 4 to 6 people with invitation to anyone to join when able. Fox and I was thinking on Wednesday's or Thursday's.

Got named Irony by Mr do-able knows as hagar he he Tried to follow two step dancing wich i was not very succesfull at. I had a great time. Hope we do it again!!
