| OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT Posted: 10/26/2005 5:55:18 PM | half: I tried to find that article at the New Yorker website, but couldn't. Do they carry different content online than in the magazine? If you have a link to the article, or can mail me the text, I'd be very interested to read it.
Thanks!

| OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT Posted: 10/26/2005 6:00:56 PM | | Tried to send you a message rainpanda, but you don't take them from Canada. At the risk of getting dangerously close to chatting, it's the lead article in the Oct 24 issue. | |

| OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT Posted: 10/27/2005 1:50:56 PM | Oprah for president......... interesting idea. Here is a woman who came from nothing and made her way in the world. She was raised dirt poor and is now the richest woman on the planet. She rocks. I do not know if she would be a good president, but it is something to think about. How would the black populace handle her cutting welfare? Getting rid of the democratic voting base? This is something to think about. | |
|
| OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT Posted: 10/27/2005 3:24:43 PM | if she did and it was even close i am moving to canada..no way have you heard her lately? she cried about a store not aloowing her to shop after housrs and demanded a appology from the owner on national television, and how about last week when she said the only way for afriaca to survive is for all the men their to back down and leave and let the girls and women take over. come on she is a ....never mind i won't say it | |

| OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT Posted: 10/27/2005 5:13:43 PM | Hey, yams: since when does one have to "speak with someone," to determine their views? A one hour personal conversation would be nothing, compared to the countless hours on television that she has expressed her views. There's no more public person in America, than Oprah, so your logic is illogical. She's also been written about as much as any public figure: but- I couldn't REALLY know her views without a personal talk with her? That's insane. Sorry, but your defense of Oprah is empty, dear girl. | |
|
| OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT Posted: 10/27/2005 6:00:16 PM | BUT........WOULD IT STILL BE CALLED THE WHITE HOUSE ? OR WOULD SHE BE "OPPRESSED" BY IT LOL | |

| OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT Posted: 12/9/2005 10:15:13 PM | Oprah no....Condaleeza yes..now theres a woman who will kick ass as a pres!! | |
|
| OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT Posted: 12/10/2005 3:34:58 AM | | Yeah, I've got to admit that Condaleeza strikes me as a good choice for the first female US president. She's definitely got the balls (*cough*) for the position and there's no doubt she's smart enough so at least she won't be quite the oratorical failure that Bush is. I admire his no-nonsense approach to things but, as we have seen, diplomacy is not his forte. Not too sure about her on that one either since she's a pretty hard-nosed woman but since she happens to have the brains for the job I imagine she'll be able to deal with whatever comes her way. | |
|
| OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT Posted: 12/10/2005 5:37:17 PM | | Gotapulse,, I dont care too much about diplomacy,,, I think we have diplomatically made ourselves vulnerable. I agree with you exept for that,,,Condolezza, right on!! You bet, if I had to vote for a woman it would be her. But the diplomacy thang,, well, my dad would have made a good president I think,,, but he wasnt too diplomatic..... His foreign policy would have been stated like this,,,"You dont start no s**t, there wont be no s**t! You stay on your side of the world and we will stay on our side of the world,,,you want import/export, fine, you deliver the goods we pay you ,, you go home. We deliver the goods, you pay us, we go home. Dont ask me if you can borrow $40billion and I wont have to come kick your ass if you dont pay up. Mind your own business and we will mind ours." I think that would be a good way to put it. | |
|
| OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT Posted: 12/10/2005 9:17:03 PM | | ^I think we're in agree and you may be right about her that way. However, who was it that said to walk softly and carry a big stick ? Diplomacy may seem like bullshit at times and I think there's something to that as far as the protocol goes but the principle behind it is sound : leave as many options open as possible. It's not a good idea to burn your bridges when you first get to them. That's my take on it anyway. I think Rice is a character not to be trifled with but I just think that sort of stance has a time and place. I'm not too sure she'd be the best person to negotiate a peace treaty of some sort at any given time. Just my opinion based on what I've seen of her, I could be wrong. Still, I'd vote for her if I had the opportunity. | |
|
| OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT Posted: 12/10/2005 9:26:41 PM | alienboy: Oprah's certainly a better qualified person than Dubyah to be president. We're just forgetting one thing: It takes a political machine to make someone president; a machine that can discredit a war hero's military record and get the American public to vote for a coward and a deserter instead... a machine that can get the American public to see "4" when there's 2...a machine that can make you see "tax cut" while they're stealing your retirement...
it's not about qualifications... it's about who decides they want you to represent them...Politics is a buyer's market.
How long do you think Oprah would stand a chance against the republican machine, which includes the oil industry, the FBI, the CIA and anyone else they "own" who can make up lies about her?
Let me give you a scandal: how about one for Dr. Phil? Jesse Jackson?... to say nothing of the way they'd connect her to Bill Clinton...
We're talking about the biggest lie machine the world has ever seen.

| OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT Posted: 12/13/2005 7:25:20 PM | I would vote for Robert Fulgrahm! (sp)
All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand pile at school.
These are the things I learned: Share everything. Play fair. Don't hit people. Put things back where you found them. Clean up your own mess. Don't take things that aren't yours. Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody. Wash your hands before you eat. Flush. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you. Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some. Take a nap every afternoon. When you go out in the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together.
Take any one of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or government or your world and it holds true and clear and firm.
And if all governments had as a basic policy to always put things back where they found them and to clean up their own mess.

| OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT Posted: 12/13/2005 7:29:36 PM | Condeleeza rice wont get the nomination (well, at least not w/ mccain in the way) and she doesn't have the charisma- although, neither does Hilary and she WILL win the nomination. UGH, what do I have to look forward to??

| OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT Posted: 1/1/2006 7:17:44 AM | Dallas you may want to remove one name from your list.
Michaelle Jean (Canada), She was caught on video toasting to the seperation of Quebec from Canada, with the heads of the seperatist movement in Quebec. Considering this is tantamount to treason, I wouldn't elect her trash collector. Probably sell the info she finds to the Quebec Sepratists for their political use.
She did say she wasn't one, and that she didn't hold that viewpoint, before being sworn in as Governor General of Canada, but I will believe my eyes and ears watching the movie HER husband filmed, LOOONG before I would believe anything spewed from her mouth now.
