I've read most of this entire post, and I know some ppl out there are sick of these topics(don't read them then) I am one of the girls that falls between fat and thin. I know I will never be real skinny and I was born with the frame that will not allow me to get that way... I accept that.
The thing I want to put out there is this.
Everyone is saying accept yourself, don't judge others, everyone likes different things. etc... My question is this... How can we readily accept ourselves when EVERYWHERE in the media we are being pushed with the ideal to be thin with nice rounded breasts and booties, no wrinkles (I can't even keep track of the thousands of anti ageing/wrinkle products out there ALL aimed at women) nicely tan all over... etc? I mean I can't even turn on the TV or read a book or play a videogame without a thin, pretty woman all over the place. And I'm not hating on the thin pretty girls 'cause they got it an' they know it. It's not their fault that they've got good genes. But if so many pple feel this way about accepting yourself and internal beauty; then why the ideal woman? Dove is the first one so far that has even come close to changing the media view, and even they aren't spot on...
Also, how can "we" not feel a little bit insecure when this "ideal woman" is everywhere? We are basically being told what guys want, and the majority of them like thin wastes and big boobs. If they didn't then why is most of the porn out there (most of it for guys) have model like women with HUGE boobs? If they didn't and they were as open about the different things they like, and they made that fact known; we wouldn't have this "must be thin" attitude. And now I sound like I hate guys but that's not true. You have to ask where all this is coming from. You may call me insecure, I know who and what I am. Everyone has had a different life experience and we are all trying to make it through and be as happy as we can. I just think that it's unfair for the bigger girls to start out (dating and whatnot) with a point against them. I'm just speaking from personal experience. I know there are AWESOME guys out there that are into the inside more so than the outside. I've just not come across too many of them.

i am a curvier girl with a pretty face and yet i feel ignored by guys who would rather have a thin girl who is ugly and has nothing in her head!
This is exactly how I feel. I get a glance and they judge me as too fat for them and won't take a second look.
And to that guy earlier who was all about "if your overweight than it's your fault" I was thin. I was thin until I hit grade 8 or so, I didn't start eating a lot more than I used to, or not exercising enough. It just happened. It's genetic as well as personal fault. What if the person can't afford a gym membership? Or can't afford to buy the healthy food? Or doesn't have the time to spend on the amount of exercise is required to be their "ideal weight"?
I come from a low income family with 1 parent. We couldn't afford to eat all the healthy foods, and couldn't afford a gym membership... well that has changed for me. I eat healthy and I exercise at a gym 4 times a week for over 4 months now and there has not been a change in my body weight. I am fit. So how do you explain that one? Hmmmm?

That is highly unlikely, but possible. Then she would be pretty with a good body.
2. is that if you touch her all over and look below her neck the body will win out.

I have a pretty face, an average body, but men want me because I'm attractive, smart, funny and have a great personality.........the fact of the matter is everyone wants and desires different things in women/men to make a statement which implies all men will date an ugly woman if she has a thin body is unfair........and everyone has a different definition of pretty vs. ugly.................looks fade..........personality stays...........and love based on looks......never lasts......... | |

Posted: 1/18/2007 12:51:06 PM | I will put this out there. I'm not just overweight...but obese. I am losing weight, but it isn't going to just melt off over night. I have had a man tell me... " You would be HOT if you would just lose the weight. " I can lose the weight, but he can't grow any taller. His head reached my breast. I think it is just a matter of finding the guys ( where ever that may be ) that like big women.. or skinny ... or what ever your size may be. My pictures don't do justice for me...because I am not photogenic.. But I am one of those women that are big with a pretty face... I feel we are all picky in who we want. Nothing wrong with that. | |

I have had friends say the skinny ones always leave but the bigger ones appreciate the love you give them and give back more in return. I am a bigger woman and I have a lot to give a man but they only seem to want one thing from me and that is not what I am after, at first anyway. I would like to get to know someone first. Posted: 2/9/2007 7:25:39 AM | I've always been told that I have a "pretty face". But when I happened to lose a bit of extra weight... Boy did I start getting alot of attention.
It seems that if you are a bit overweight, the men won't even take the time to see if you have that "pretty face".
I'm no different inside, but people don't seem to bother to find out unless you are slim.
I use this generalization for both men and women. People smile at me more, want my opinion and attention. It's very strange. | |

Some women will only date guys that are ripped so it's six of one and a half dozen of the other. whatever her body shape there has to be something about her that attracts me to her, I find most of the slim women that I've met are shallow not all but about 80%. Maybe it's because I'm maturing now, and just want to have fun with a woman. A few major turn offs for me are not willing to listen after you ask me a question,and comparing me to past dates out loud. No matter the face or body lets get to bond. Posted: 4/5/2008 4:21:07 PM | I'm faced with that problem. I'm told that I'm pretty but heavyset. I haven't had much luck finding a man to have a relationship with me, even here on POF.
I can't tell you how much it hurts to hear that I have such a pretty face and an awesome personality, but because I'm "Fat" it's not going to be easy to find a man to accept me. Then they are obviously not worth being accepted themselves! To all of you men that don't like heavy women, "Don't knock it till you try it!"
But we women are just like the men when it comes to physical attraction. Would we choose an ugly, physically fit man over one that is over weight but has a handsome face? I'll let you know when I've had both.
We choose to be very picky, I guess that's why most of us here on POF are still single. | |
