see, this is the problem. you can liken video games with thread deletion. without interaction we aren't human.
put down the video games and stop the deleting for chatting and let us be humans!!!

About 2 months ago I Was exchaning e-mails with a lady on POF, it lasted about 2 weeks. I had mentioned that I liked to play videogames. She responded with a nasty note saying that men who played videogames were childish & immature.I never heard from hear again. This has happened to me twice. What's up with that?

I agree with avoiding fighting games. Depending on the move you make against your partner you could kill the mood - like say constant kicking to the groin. heh | |

Posted: 9/28/2005 10:15:08 AM | Everyone has their own way of relaxing and kicking-back. I don't think that video game playing can be interpreted as immature. I could argue that drinking to have a good time is immature, and could argue that people shouldn't have to have a drug (be it alcohol or whatever) to have a good time, but then that could be defended with the "I drink socially" argument (Yes, I drink from time to time. I was just pulling an example out of my...nevermind). I could also argue that religiously watching "Sex in the City" and modeling life after shallow, materialistic, and let's not forget fictitious women could be immature as well, but I won't go too far into that debate. ;) Maturity is best defined (in my opinion) by one's actions toward others--how they handle people and life. Playing a video game is not much different than playing a game at the fair, or going to the casino to gamble, etc...
What does bug me though is those guys who have attractive girlfriends and take them out on a date to a bar only to ignore them while they play on the touch screens. Now that's immature. :) Any neglected girlfriends out there? :)

Posted: 9/28/2005 10:36:28 AM | My guess to that question is that some ladies lack imagination, and confuse it with maturity, as there's no other way to label it, right? I'm not a sexist, but I can make that call with percision, as it's with experience. Video games are and is something to do, when you're indecisive and want to go to the mall to shop for shoes or that dress (yes it's directed to those ladies who think that it's a bad idea for men that play video games). I'm a PROUD owner of an XBOX, and I also have a social life. I don't think that going out every weekend is the ideal thing to do nowadays, as I would just love to stay in the house sometimes. What do you do at home? For those that think that it's immature, you should try playing a game, as I think that's a possibility of the problem. Don't knock it til you tried it....life is too short to be serious all of the time. I'm not serious all of the time, as it 's stressfull, and kills....LONG LIVE VIDEO GAMES!!!!!!! | |

Like I said, maybe if there was sombody in my life to focus on who knows, I might give up videogames for rock collecting or golf. | |

I was an Everquest addict, and met my last long term girlfriend in the game. Our characters even got married in the game. We went out for a year and a half, living together for the last year. She ended up having real anger issues, something that I did not detect at all in chat in the game, or in the initial dating, so it didn't work out. But it was really fun for a while. I bought us each awesome computers and we'd play together all the time.
I know about 7 couples who got together in Everquest, and I've heard of way more. One of my female friends in the game moved from Costa Rica to Kansas to be with the guy she met. Another guy friend of mine moved from Montreal to St. Louise to be with the woman he met. On and on. My ex's roomate is really into video games too, and both of them are dam hot.
So, don't give up if that is what you want, they are out there. | |
