Posted: 11/4/2005 5:48:55 PM | My boyfriend has quite a collection of games for the Xbox. He plays it every other day for maybe an hour. But he is a very, very smart individual.
I think for some people maybe they grew up spending MOST of their time playing the games and not setting an even amount of real live interaction. And so, with addtional factors, become a bit immature. Thats just my theory.
I could be way wrong, because then there are those kids that shoved their nose in a book MOST of the time and avoided their own lives, but yet arent too immature.
Hmmm....... maybe everyone just wants to put a blame on video games, because they can't accept the fact that some kids just didnt have a great upbringing. | |

Some women connect video games to childhood because they probably seen there little brothers or the like playing it. So when a man says I play video games all they can remember is seeing children actually playing video games. In reality video games should be seen as a regular interest that should not categorize adults as children. If you grew up playing video games as a child like me and grew up being an adult still liking it, you should not care what other people think. There will be someone who will like you for you regardless of the fact that you play video games. | |

Posted: 5/2/2009 1:46:23 PM | The men I have known who play video games were addicted to them. They'd rather play than spend time with their spouse and children. My children would come back from visiting their Dad, hurt and upset. He spent that precious little time with them engrossed on some on-line inter-galactic game. He made empty promises to them that he would not keep because he couldn't leave the computer. He had not a dollar to spend on them, yet bought the latest and most expensive stuff for gaming.

Video games is such a broad term.
You could mean World of Warcraft and I wouldn't date a woman that played that either, it's life consuming.
Or...
You could mean solitaire on your pc.

Posted: 6/23/2009 9:35:56 PM | The real problem I think is that most people assume when you mention that you play video game that this is all you do. In reality for many of us it's just something that we do when we're really really bored with nothing else to occupy our time (like a girl). That being said, there are of course people (and I know some of them) who let video games ruin their lives. On the other hand there are millions upon millions of people in this country who play video games and still live normal, full, healthy lives with no issues because they do so as a last resort type of deal rather than a priority all the time. For some reason though, as I mentioned at the start, the mere mention of such things sends many girls running for the hills for fear of that tiny percentage which devotes all their time to games -- although this may be a reasonable fear considering we're ONLINE and well, clearly most of us are in some way predisposed to technology to begin with.

Although, they are fun to play I think what you need is more then just that as a hobby I mess with my guitar too. I would take a look at this web page get a book from this guy he teaches at a college to www.jharbour.com
There are other places you can get books like the publisher that puts his out at this site www.courseptr.com look at the links on the left side. And then a page will open once you go into the game area and click the programming games section lots of books. There are easy ones and then the books on C++ game programming that is the hardest language do that one last.
I would start at either Darkbasic Pro or Blitz Basic3D they have those books on the site in fact that author wrote the one on Darkbasic Pro. Then after that move up to Visual Basic.NET he has a book on game programming with it. The last one after that move to C++ get a basic getting to learn everything on it book I would do the same before trying Visual Basic.NET too. | |

If you only play it when you feel like you need to or play games when you are not spending time with a girl it is ok. I am a CGT major and I know a lot of guys who love their games. Some are on the 24/7 and that is all they want to do and most of them can not keep a girlfriend. I know other guys who have girlfriends who love to play with them but that isn't all they do. I have dated guys to played games too much and it was had on the relationship because that is all they wanted to do (CGT Guy). But I have dated others who played game and played with me that worked out fine.
What I am trying to get at is it depends on how much you play. Some people think games are stupid but that isn't all girls. I am a girl and I like to play games when I am with friends or have time.. It all depends on the girl you are talking to. | |

Posted: 6/24/2009 3:54:15 AM | | its just a pet peeve for some women, i honestly have perceived most women ive known like this think its wasted money that could be better spent ( on them ) seriously though who cares, girls love to shop, guys watch the game, girl like to read, guys would rather watch the movie, girls do girly things, guys play video games. find a girl who is cool with it or plays herself. i dont spend innordinate amounts of time playing but i assure girls i date , yes im a grown up, i dont wear dinosaur tighty whiteys, but dammit woman i love my ps3. besides in my generation and younger we grew up in the boom of the gaming era, and like it or not guys playing video games is here to stay..... | |
