Rom , although it does sound cliche, Paris was really one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Art everywhere. BC is second, for different reasons(or maybe 1st in its own category) Morocco was the strangest/biggest culture shock. Toured Southern Ireland for two weeks(also known as Ireland ) and a piece of my heart is there for sure. What was interesting about the places you have visited? Esp, St. Paul, Michigan, Detroit(rock city)
What is everyones favorite place? maybe material for a new thread here.....

Knorthernlyte I spent the winter of 84/85 in Norman Wells working for the man ESSO in there new Central process facility, never got above minus 25C for 3.5 months, Aug 18 2 feet of snow that was the end of the baseball season just before the playoffs. What a blast fishing was (for the real thing) excellent Great Bear river/Mackenzie etc. just awesome scenery and the Caribou migration/longest day party, God I even bought an airconditioner for those 85F 2:00am afternoons about the 21st of June.

Soulfishy~ Honestly.. there wasn't much interesting about the places I've been in the States, 'cept for the fact that gunfire wakes you up in Detroit at 4am all the time. That took some getting used to (and still never really did).

Out of all the places I've been, here (BC) is my favourite. I love the mountains and the lakes.. the scenery is the best for me. And I mean all over, not just one city. I've done the drive from Kelowna to Pemberton, and I think it's one of the most beautiful day trips someone could possibly take.

But, for culture, I'd have to say Winnipeg. That place has an art district that's one of the best I've seen. Which is funny, 'cause I hated Winnipeg overall. The people were nice, but the city just had this buzz that I couldn't seem to shake from my system, and I felt nervous all the time. Might be because I was living in some seriously rough neighbourhoods, not sure... just didn't like the city.

God.. I could go on for hours about each place I've lived or been.. so I'll just end this here. If ya wanna know more Soulfishy, just fire off an email to me.

Vinny.. my grandmother moved over to Istra, Croatia about 14 years ago to get married, and never came back. So, judging by your description of where you were originally from, I'd think she's kinda close to your hometown.

Born in Lancashire, UK. Lived in the Lakes District until emigrating to Ontario at fourteen: Markham, Stouffville, Huntsville, T.O., followed by moving out west to B.C. by train with two cats & one infant. Saltspring Island, Edmonton, Richmond, SSI, Victoria, & Sooke - finally, a home of my own. Ha! It's lovely to have a home of my own but I find that I do have to curb my "itchy" feet for the sake of my two (twins) youngest as I promised them they could finish High School here. After that, who knows. Hmmm...... La!

Born in the city of Huddersfield, county of Yorkshire, England. Came to Canada at the age of seven weeks. Calgary and the Victoria which will always be my home. I live in the greatest place on earth so I see no reason to go anywhere else. There is so much to see right here on the Island. The West Coast Trail, done it. Dela Falls fourth highest water fall in the world, 440 meters of cascading falls, done absolutely breath taking. The Horne Lake Caves, done it and they are amazing. I could go on and on but you get the picture. I figure I'll travel abroad once I finish with Canada. The greatest country on earth bar none.

My twin brother and I were born on Jan.18,1950 in the same bed we were conceived in at Gibsons B.C. No doctor attended our birth, as he was sick in bed with the flu. My father assisted the local public health nurse in our birth . No he didnt faint . We were premature by 10 wks. Next, we were taken on the ferry from Gibsons to fishermans cove in West Van and along Marine Drive to Lionsgate Hospital. No Upper LEVEL back then. We were in incubators for a long time. My brother and I owe our lives to all those people who did what had to be done to bring us into this world and keep us here. My mother barely survived our birth, and it is to her we owe the most.

According to my parents, I was dropped off by helicopter and deposited ontop one of those huge oil storage tanks (you know those freaking white ones) , tank #10 to be precise at the Texaco Oil refinery on the Island of Trinidad and Tobago.

I was born at the oil company hospital, which burned down many years later, and apparently there was no recorded birth for me anywhere.

My birth was registered when I was like 6 years old.
Only in a corrupt Third World country can you get away with this kinda crap eh?
