Yes you can get boils from toliet seats if the boil is draining and it gets on the seat. Never ever sit on a public toliet seat, HELLO !!!!! Smoochie No, you cant get boils from toilet seats. The following is a quote from a medical site in what 'causes' boils.
What Is It?
Boils and carbuncles are localized skin infections usually caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria (staph). These staph infections form pockets of pus in the skin that are filled with bacteria, dead skin cells and infection-fighting white blood cells. Whether the pocket of pus is called a boil or a carbuncle depends on the location and size of the skin infection:
A boil, also called a furuncle, begins as a painful infection of a single hair follicle. Boils can grow to be larger than a golf ball, and they commonly occur on the buttocks, face, neck, armpits and groin.
A carbuncle is a deeper skin infection that involves a group of infected hair follicles in one skin location. Carbuncles often are found on the back of the neck, shoulders, hips and thighs, and they are especially common in middle-aged or elderly men. People with diabetes are more likely to develop carbuncles.

| BOILS Posted: 10/1/2005 8:46:30 PM | I'm getting hungry reading this sh*t...Funny sick story I got genital warts when I was a kid on my twanger and right hand the doctor I went to get them removed was gay and he kept saying over and over, "Oooooooo isn't that strange you got warts on your blankity blank, and your hand I wonder how that happened...?" I also got crabs from le tioliet seat...I know I'm never gonna get laid here so what the hey! | |
|
| BOILS Posted: 10/1/2005 9:05:01 PM | | cripes, you're hilarious. | |
|
| BOILS Posted: 10/1/2005 9:39:41 PM | Okay Bryrd you have just won the right to be placed on my Favorites list. Your still not going to get laid.
Yes, if a boil is draining you can infect other hair folicles on the buttocks area via a toliet seat. Docs do know what boils and carbunkles are but they don't know what exactly causes them the use of Glycolic Acid or other exfolliating products has little effect on reaccuring boils, if you are prone to them. High Stress levels often initiates a break out. Squeezing them can also spread them and the fluids expelled from them is full of bacteria which can also create infection else where. Smoochie
|
| BOILS Posted: 10/1/2005 10:27:04 PM | | Which means if you got it in for somebody you can collect boil fluids in a little container go visit their home and spread it all over their tioliet seat, but you didn't hear that from me...And to think alcohol almost robbed me of my sick mime...mind.. | |

| BOILS Posted: 10/1/2005 10:58:08 PM | | I may be the bearer of unwelcome news, but you may wish to look up MRSA (methacyllin resistant staphylococcus aureola) ((not sure of the spelling)). My most recent love went to the hospital (its oftentimes nosocomial, i.e. contracted at a med facility) for a brown recluse bite, and was thereafter infected with MRSA. This is a staph infection of staggering proportions, and your mention of a boil the size of your breast causes me to worry for you. This is a very medicine resistant condition, and could (as mentioned by someone earlier) threaten your life through poisoning of the blood, or kidney problems, and worse. They may have to use extreme antibiotics, including Vancomycin (which is one of the most powerful known), and even then it may recur. Avoid scratching your wounds, as the bacteria can live in your nose, and under your nails. I spent many nights squeezing the wound and putting in antiobiotic as my ex cried about the pain and disfigurement. (I felt really bad for her, it was on her derriere, and she would get two or three at a time. She couldn't even sit down without crying a little.) (No, I didn't break up with her after that, she just told too many stories that weren't true.) The good news is that it can be brought under control, she did heal nicely, and was still sexy thereafter. See your doc and ASK QUESTIONS. And, yes, you can get a staph infection from a toilet seat, a workout bench, a vinyl restaurant bench, etc. It's not a STD, just a badass infection | |

| BOILS Posted: 10/2/2005 6:17:54 AM | Sometimes people get them as a result of an infection somewhere in your body and it chooses to come out via a boil at whatever point it chooses on your body. Maybe have get yourself some bloodwork done and find out if indeed there is an infection in your body that needs clearing up. Try not to scratch it,,,it can spread,,infect,,and get worse.
Poor thing. :( Good luck.

| BOILS Posted: 10/2/2005 7:23:42 AM | | Thanks, coffeecanuck, I learned a lot. Damn I hope I'm not dying. :-s | |
|
| BOILS Posted: 10/2/2005 8:14:33 AM | You're welcome asb and I do stand corrected. Yes one can become infected 'if' the boil is draining. (Working graveyards is my only excuse...lol). The normal (so called normal..lol) boil 'pops' up, comes to a head, bursts and drains and then heals, usually without scarring. Sometimes they are larger, reacurring and need to be monitored as they can lead to secondary health issues which is some cases can be serious. You are under a Physicians care, so that is a good thing. Did you know that a stye on ones eye is actually a boil? Here is some more info for you I found, hope it helps.
Self-help options Suggestions for treating a boil include: Resist the temptation to squeeze the boil. Wash the boil with antiseptic soap. Apply a hot compress for 10 minutes or so, three times daily, to encourage the boil to come to a head. Cover a burst boil with a bandaid. Wash your hands thoroughly to prevent the spread of infection. Use fresh towels every time you wash and dry the infected areas. See your doctor if the boil isn't improving after a few days.
Treatment options Medical treatment for a severe boil may include antibiotics and lancing. Boils around the eyes and nose should always be treated by a doctor, because the infection may access the bloodstream and reach the brain. Furunculosis refers to recurring outbreaks of boils. Treatment includes: Checking for underlying disorders, such as diabetes. Long term use of antibiotics to rid the body of infection. Use of antiseptic shampoos and soaps. Antibiotic creams applied to the nasal membranes, because S. aureus commonly inhabits the nose. Strict attention to personal hygiene. Frequent laundering of all bedding and towels. In some cases, other members of the household will need similar treatment, since S. aureus is contagious.

| BOILS Posted: 10/2/2005 8:36:17 AM | Boils and carbuncles are localized skin infections usually caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria (staph).
and Staph is EXTREMELY contagious.
Yet I've never heard of catching a carbuncle. LOLOL
BTW, if you try to squeeze an abcess (boil, carbuncle) you can let the infection enter your blood stream and you are S.O.L. NEVER attempt to extract an abcess yourself. It landed me in the E.R. - the stupid chit that I am.
|
| BOILS Posted: 10/2/2005 10:45:25 AM | | Definitely. You can get blood poisoning if it gets in your bloodstream. This is how I pop it lol. (so funny) I have a blackhead/zit remover that's like a little vacuum and open the boil a little, put the thing on it, and let it suck. Works great kinda! But now I can't find it. HHMM. Then pore peroxide in it (because I have a damned pothole in the back of my leg) gauze it and its good to go! works good. | |

| BOILS Posted: 10/2/2005 12:52:29 PM | Well fortunatly for you I am in the right medical field to give advice for this question. Recurrent boils are classified as furunculosis your Dr may have given you medication to treat your current boils. Preventing them is not to difficult.
Solution to Boils The boils in all thse causes might be on different parts to the body, but their cause is the same. They are due to the mormid humours in the body which are not being properly expelled. All of you must take to a diet of fruit for same days. Eat one kind of fruit thrice daily according to how hungry you feel.
Take enema also during the days you are on a diet of fruit. Continue it for three days and on the fourth day adopt the following regimen: take half a litre of hot water with about 50 millilitres of juice of lime in the morning after stools.
Take soap of vegetables for breakfast, boiled vegetables for lunch and fruits for dinner. Take raisins or figs (about 100 grammes) also with your dinner. Continue it for a week and then start talking bread with boiled vegetables.
Tempature and sleeping surroundings also play a part. Not saying your durty. Durty sheets, and night sweats are a good combo for boils.
Hope I was some help | |

| BOILS Posted: 10/2/2005 8:21:32 PM | What's a durty sheet? What's thrice daily? | |
|
| BOILS Posted: 10/2/2005 8:25:16 PM | | Well, thank heavens it was only one in my lifetime - and that was enough. Doc told me it was a combination of sweat, my workout clothes (that WERE clean, lol) and the constant rubbing. It irritated the hair follicles, inflamed them, and voila. It was THE most painful bloody thing I ever experienced - not including the stupid blood poisoning. ARGH. | |
|
| BOILS Posted: 10/2/2005 8:31:51 PM | O.K. Who's gonna give me an enema!!! Don't everyone volunteer at once... | |
|
| BOILS Posted: 10/2/2005 8:56:10 PM | | oh...my... | |
|
| BOILS Posted: 10/2/2005 8:58:25 PM | I'll take a pass on the enema. I'll just have a few beers and some nachos - it has the same effect. | |
|
| BOILS Posted: 10/3/2005 12:06:38 AM | | Thanks beermancan, I'll have to do that fruit thing. I haven't been getting enough fruits on my diet (or lack of) for a while. Could boils also be caused by stress? | |
|
| BOILS Posted: 10/3/2005 3:05:53 AM | my dad got a lot of boils not too long ago, he found out it was b/c he was using baby oil and it was blocking his pores and the sweat could not get out Boils are the result of bacteria that invade through a microscopic break in the skin and infect a blocked oil gland or hair follicle. An abscess results when white blood cells, sent to kill the invaders, produce pus. Sounds nasty, but even though boils are sometimes painful and ugly, they're rarely dangerous.
Could it be some type of lotion you are using?? Also my grandmother gave him this black salve to put on it and it drew out the pus and healed it up in about 2-3 days...I will get the name of the stuff tonight and post it b/c I am at work right now
I have been told that a boil is a very painful thing, you can try heated slices of tomato or onion on the boil, or try a black tea bag, it should have the same effect as the salve will by drawing it out, keep the boil wet and warm by applying warm compresses several times an hour to bring to a head.
Be sure to consult a doctor if you see red lines radiating from the boil or if you get fever, chills or swelling in other parts of your body. You may also need a doctor's care if the boil is extremely tender or is under a thick layer of skin, as with some boils on the back. And if you have diabetes, you should always consult with your doctor any time boils appear: You might need antibiotics that are available only by prescription Keep the area very clean though by taking SHOWERS! NOT BATHS to avoid spreading the staph.
Good Luck Apply warm milk soaked bread to the boil
