One of the pictures on my profile should probably be a dead giveaway of who my favorite superhero is. :)

Hell ya woman hero's are more rare than men hero's. What hero's are your fav.? (for the ladys.) I find the most popular hero for the woman is storm, or wonder woman. Ya we can make a super hero group on this site. Give me some good super clan names like... eg. fantastic fish, plenty of hero's. I know you all got the creative brains to hook it up. After well vote for the best.

She-Ra looking for her He-Man. Besides, I think the idea of both of us running around in matching underwear and capes is hot.

In the absolutely rare occurance that I go to the bar?

Nope. Not that shirt. It's old, ratty and used for the gym and such.

I have a new S-Shirt now to wear to the bars! Not like I ever picked up, attempted to pick up or been proposed to be picked up, anyway. So what difference would it make on what I wear, right?

This blog is about the myth of woman wanting to find that ever so rare hero. Ya know that guy that can make her feel safe, loved, & respected. I understand that idealy this is what woman say they want, but to often they only see there hero in hero form and not as clark kent.

Oh hun, it's not rare, just special. There really are a lot of men out there who can help a woman feel safe, loved and respected. In fact, when you think about it, every single close relationship we have, both men and women, make us feel safe, loved and respected, or we wouldn't have them. Everyone from a close family member that we get along with to friends. This is why, as women mature from girls to ladies, we shed that 'gotta be nice to be liked, no matter if they treat us badly' kind of thinking.

I'll let you in on a little secret as to why some of us, primarily as young women, get involved with men who treat us badly. From the time we learn to walk, we are taught to be 'nice'. This means being pleasant, acquiescing, 'pretty', agreeable, happy, etc., ad nauseum. We learn this through the media, school, and the adults around us. The strongminded, opinionated little girl is frowned upon, whereas the strongminded and opinionated little boy is 'tough' and a 'rebel'. We learn not to make a fuss, even if someone is doing something that makes us feel bad, in order to be acceptable, agreeable, and above all else 'nice'.

While we grow, we begin to question that as friends in highschool treat us like crap even though we try to be as nice as we can, hiding our true feelings in an attempt to remain 'nice'. Then girl meets boy, and the same chit happens all over again until one day we wake up and have had enough of being 'nice' for the sake of being liked. This is when a young girl matures into a woman and gets a mind of her own.

When you see a woman with a man who treats her badly, you're seeing a woman who still hasn't got a mind of her own to say 'shove it' to appearances. She's not confident enough in herself to accept herself as she is and flip off those who treat her badly because they can. Somehow she internalizes the other person's bad manners as a direct reflection of how lovable she is. It's all about self-esteem. Get a woman who has no problems drawing that line in the sand and, if crossed, will not hesitate to say "Nice try, a**hole, now take a walk" and you've met a woman who's been there, done that, and has adopted the attitude that she'll be as nice to you as you are to her.

The way to find a woman like that is to see how she reacts when annoyed. If she's not afraid to voice a complaint, whether in a restaurant or within a personal relationship, albeit in a mature (read: doesn't flip out) manner, then you've got yourself a woman who won't sacrifice her own happiness in order to be remembered as 'nice' in her obituary, lol. If, however, you find yourself a woman who complains in private about the way her friends, family members or anyone else close to her is treating her, and you've got someone who is afraid to challenge the status quo.

Keep in mind too that some women go from one extreme to another after being hurt as well. She waxes and wanes from being 'nice' to being absolutely hurtful toward anyone who attempts to show her that she is worth of love and respect. Women like this haven't struck a balance and this is a classic case of the bullied becoming the bully. Stay away.

Now, as for being a superhero, I would definitely be Storm :) But my powers would be invisibility, the power of teleportation, and I'd have lightening feet to kick the chit out of the bad guys. I'd also have the power, of course, to control the weather, thus turning South America into the North Pole and making Canada a tropical paradise. But only on weekends. I wouldn't want to lose out on snow days :D

Bruce Lee.
To me he remains the one and only true master (in every sense of the word) of modern times. His philosophy of martial arts (being direct, straightforward, focused on the goal) as being the model for one's entire way of life remains the standard by which I measure myself to this day.
