woman of intelligence...intimidating?

For the record, nothing is more sexy than a girl who can hold up her end of a conversation, espescially if the topic is something like Philosophy or Quantum Physics. I once had a two hour conversation with a girl on a ferry/bus about thermodynamics and at the end of it I just wanted to take her some place quiet and pick her brains for another year. Intimidating? Try MANDATORY!

Is Sharon Stone intimidating? She has a genius IQ. So let's assume you mean a woman who is intelligent but not gorgeous. Well bud if she is a smart woman she would probably know you won't hold up your end of the conversation if you show your lack of confidence. If she is a gorgeous woman with a high intelligence...well hell I would be intimidated too lol..but in a good way. Myself I love intelligent men...what a turn on..and the more complex they are..the more creative juices they have...the better for me.

There is no doubt that looks can be very intimidating, I can freely admit to that. Intelligence augments that however in interesting ways to each person, some people are intimidated by attractive intelligent people while others find the intelligence makes them more approachable. I am in the latter, I would never ask out a hot girl who I know is a little bit dim, I would feel insecure about my own intelligence (How ludicrous is that?). However, a hot girl with a brain, that is just irresistable.

And Smoofiter, here are some other words I never, ever would have thought to hear mentioned in the same breath: Anna Nicole Smith - genius.

Oh, wait... my bad! I still haven't heard that in the same breath!

Cheers!

Personally, Bucs, you were way to harsh - not sure why you reacted so
strongly.

Anyway, back to the question. I'm having trouble with this question:

To what degree of intelligence are you referring? Most
people here are intelligent. All women I've dated were intelligent. So, are
you referring to the Einstein intelligence? If so, yes. I'm very
competitive and as much as I enjoy creativeness outside the home regardless
of gender, I don't wish to find myself competing with a braniac in
my own home.

I don't appreciate discussing obscure philosophical debates and the like so
that's one more reason - BORDOM!

That’s rather a silly question.

Who wants a dummy? I was very much impressed that when I put up my little profile here that I was immediately contacted by two women who were (apparently) better educated. Fact is, every woman who has written me has not only been nice but also bright.

Would I get intimidated by an intelligent woman? Hell no! That’s what I’m looking for.

I feel the OP has a valid question because I have personally been told that I am intimidating because of my intelligence. I wondered for a long time why I was going on dates with men and they would not call again, or ask for another date, etc. I was talking about it with a group of my friends once, and everyone of them told me that it was because I was too intelligent and sometimes men (and this can go for women also) have a difficult time being around someone that has a higher intelligence level than themselves. I personally thought that it was ridiculous and why would anyone think that, because intelligence falls into so many areas. Personally, I try to surround myself with people that have intelligence in all areas of life. I have a friend from POF that flies by me in intelligence, but I don't let that intimidate me. My advice to the OP is don't be intimidated by anyone that you feel is more intelligent. You may have intelligence in certain areas that they do not. Just be yourself and if whomever you are with cannot accept you for who and what you are then they are not worth your time anyway.

@hac

If you don't mind advice; I myself have a 132 IQ (I'm sooo proud LOL), but I
never let it show in conversation with friends. If I did, I would worry
that they would believe I'd get bored with them...but really, I'm not. I enjoy
the average stuff. I'm more like a kid and love to play like one.

As a women, don't try to dumb yourself down but
just don't TRY to impress either - you don't need to. Just be yourself and
appreciate the person you are with.

I could never appreciate those people who use their intelligence
as a weapon to try to belittle others - I see it in these forums
too often and therein lie's the fear....for me too.

You need only read in this very thread about what I'm talking about.

I can't answer from a man's point of view, but in a mate, intelligence is always a plus.
Speaking as a somewhat book smart and geeky type, I find other types of intelligence interesting...musical talent to give an example.

I think there are men who are intimidated by women who are more educated and worldly than they are. It's a fair question. This thread also made me think about this...a lot of men on here claim they cannot figure out women...that they wish they would just say what's on their mind. I am very quick to say what's on my mind, and I find there are men that can't handle that.

I don't care what's under the lid as long as she's got a purty mouth.

Intelligence is one of the great wonders of the world, if you shun it you are denying the great joy of learning something new each and every day. Some intelligent people have a tendency to slip into intolerance or arrogance, that's not intimidating, just plain unattractive. We all struggle with our self esteem at times, deciding who and who we do not relate too based on that stunts our growth if you will.

So can I buy some of Sharon Stone's t &, I mean DNA on e-bay?

I concur with you men say that want a woman who is intelligent, but in my case I find the opposite in true. I often find myself talking in a manner that isnt normal for me. Or changing the way I speak all together. I have to because when men find out that Iam reasonably intelligent the converstation ends there. I had one man tell me bluntly that If I were cease pursuing my education he would find me more attractive.

Well basically. I look at it like this...if a man were to find my intelligence intimidating...that would be too bad.

First of all...in my humble opinion...you had better notice my intelligence before you notice my appearance. Why? Because anyone can notice a girls rack…but it takes a special man to notice her mind. So the more you talk about my appearance…the more likely I am to be less interested in you. JMHO. :)

Honestly, you are contradicting your own advice here. Woman or man no one should dumb themselves down.

As a women, don't try to dumb yourself down but
just don't TRY to impress either - you don't need to. Just be yourself and
appreciate the person you are with.

I am not sure where you received the impression where I dumb myself down, because I never do that ever. Nor do I tell the world what my IQ is or if I am on a date, do I sit there and spout off Einstein's atomic theory just because I can. I think you missed my point altogether. I was trying to advise the OP that he should not be intimidated by anyone on the basis of perceived intelligence.

I could never appreciate those people who use their intelligence
as a weapon to try to belittle others - I see it in these forums
too often and therein lie's the fear....for me too.

You need only read in this very thread about what I'm talking about.

I could not agree with you more!
