| favourite top ten films and why? Posted: 1/13/2008 7:09:31 PM | Well in 2005 three years ago they beat me to the question:-
Favourite films and why! So rather than risk thread deletion - I thought I'd piggy back off of this one and ask what's your top (ten if you can think of that many) films and why
Sweet November - was just very moving and a call to live each day of your life to its best
Dangerous Liaisons - what some of you peeps could learn from this one!
Waterboy - I'm just a sucker for films where someone beats all the prejudices to come out tops.
KingPin - so funny but with a defining moment about how some people can just throw their entire lives away being angry and feeling sorry for themselves
The Matrix - I love the phrase Be The One - and got a licence plate after it. Just a call that we can all be the one in our work places and every day lives to make a difference for everyone around us.
Cinema Paradiso - just a lovely humbling film and how to catch someone who doesn't even notice you.
Il Postini - as above - a great love story which will have you reading poetry.
Sixth Sense - I thought I had this film all sussed from the beginning including the fact that Bruce Willis was a ghost - but the ending has to be one of the most poignant where the boy tells his mother a lovely truth.
Adaptations - a parody of a parody of a parody - if you didn't like being John Malkovich (there is a scene of this in here) then you won't like adaptations but for anyone who has problems with being rejected, you must see this film.
I have a lot of films in tenth spot but the one that comes immediately to mind is:- A Beautiful Mind - Just a lovely film.

| favourite top ten films and why? Posted: 1/14/2008 12:58:15 AM | In no particular order...
1. Star Wars - I grew up surrounded by the toys, books, and comics born from this wild galaxy, and it's the reason I love writing and creating my own stories now.
2. Unbreakable - A fresh spin on a superhero movie, based on the most believable concept so far (if people can be born with bones as fragile as glass, can someone be born at the other end of the genetic spectrum?).
3. Just Friends - What can I say? Story of my life... Except for the happy ending part, so far.
4. Transformers (2007) - A fond childhood memory brought to life on the big screen.
5. Batman Begins - Never a huge fan of the character until this movie opened my eyes and showed me that comic book adaptations could primarily be good movies, by not placing as much emphasis on the "comic" part. It was a dead serious movie, and it worked.
6. Love Actually - Every rom-com ever made rolled into a very comfortable 90 minutes. No need to ever watch another :D
7. The Matrix - A brilliant concept that turned into an amazing sci-fi trilogy, even if I'm the only person on the planet who loved the second and third installments.
8. The Breakfast Club - Because I identify with one of the characters - though I'm not saying which one.
9. The Lion King - Great story, great songs, love lions.
10... I'll leave this one open, because every week I have a new addition to my favourites list.
