ok we have neighbors our age....we have kids the same age...we sit around outside at the patio table playing poker and passing a fat one around. The kids all safely tucked into bed.Do we do it often??? No....do we let it get in way of our parenting?? NO...do we do it near our children ?? NO....
Its everyones right to do something like this in the privacy of thier own backyard....but i have to tell you honestly...i know another mom and dad who cut...roll...and smoke it near thier kids and THAT pisses me right off....there is a time and a place for that....far far away from children. | |

Some people think the kids will never find out, PLEASE, kids are alot smarter than most people give them credit for. Maybe pot smoking parents should have their kids run the house. lol
I used alot of drugs when I was a KID, now I am a ADULT with responsibilites. I am by no means perfect by any stretch of the imagination.
I am a single father and have been for over ten yrs. Drug free for over 18.

Posted: 8/25/2006 4:55:18 PM | i agree with Jyles. on that kids learn from example.. i have never smoked pot.. and i have an 18 year old daughter that has never tried it either.. actually she is very very allergic to it.. some idiot blew pot smoke in her face and she stopped breathing. had to be rush to emerg.. as for myself . i get really bad headaches from the smell of it..
and i have seen the results the other way where mom and dad both smoked pot . and their 13 year old son is stoned everyday,... | |

Posted: 1/7/2007 2:29:17 PM | Personally, I smoked pot and did other such illegal activites when I was in college many many moons ago. I did it alot and by the time college was over, I found that it was boring to me (and actually in the case of pot...made me paranoid) and I quit. It wasn't until 2 years later that I had my first child and boy am I glad I got that itch out of my system early in my life. I have no desire to do any drug ever again...just doesn't sound fun to me anymore...been there done that. However my ex-husbands parents smoked pot around him all the time and I think he and his gf are smoking pot around their newborn (this is one of the issues why he is my ex...I would find his pipe in the bedroom, he swore our son wasn't in the room when he smoked...but I thought my child deserved more)....it's really sad and pathetic because you are limiting a child's future when you do that. Children look up to their parents, and if you show that you need a chemical to get you through life what does that tell your kids.
I am really glad that I had my history because I feel like I can have an honest talk about it with my son when he is older (yes I was still able to achieve my goals, but it would've been much easier if I had been clean in those days and I saw it destroy many bright people).
I personally think anyone who smokes pot around there kids (or has paraphanelia around in access to kids) should lose their children...sorry if its harsh, one of the worst things this country has become recently is a haven for the victim-mentality and most druggie's latch onto the "it's not my fault" crap all there lives. It's always someone else's fault and the kids learn to never take responsibility and that's pathetic. Stand up and live life SOBER, it's much more enjoyable and "pure." Stepping off my soapbox now. | |

I fully agree with Crane here.. Having a glass of wine or pint of beer with the kids around is one things. But you should not be doing a binger with the kids around. If for no other reason then safety.. What happens if you need to go to the hospital? You might be to drunk or stoned to drive...
So if you are going to do such things, please do keep it away from the kids. And do it when you are not responsible for the kids for a night. | |

I don't know, depends on what your smoking.. And for the record I'm fully against the usage of Drugs to begin with. If take a couple of puffs from a pipe filed with tobacco, then no your not stoned..
However Drugs should be kept out of the home to begin with. | |
