I wasn't even thinking of blood and hair tests when I posted. Completely slipped my mind. LOL I guess it's because I've never had a job where I've had to give blood or hair samples, but I know that lots of jobs require that. And yes, you're right.

I was quite shocked when I was doing accounting systems implementations in the states and saw in their general ledger budgeted items for drug testing. Found it to be a very interestin difference between Canada and the US.

I found this quite shocking as well. I live in Southern California, and it is required for ANY job/position. When I lived in NC for a few yrs., I was shocked that one was not required when I found employment.
I think they should be made mandatory everywhere. You have no idea if the person you are hiring is a closet pothead or crackhead.

| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/21/2007 11:00:13 AM | | i quit smoking it when i had my boys, i most likely will start again when they are old enough to move out, its a question of priorities | |

| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/21/2007 12:13:50 PM | Disney;
Two reasons why we don't do drug testing here in Canada is that it would be a breach of what is called out charter rights. Also, I read an article about this and the test is not actually fair since someone who is a binge drinker for example (alcoholic) would get the job since alcohol disipitates out of the body usually within 24 hours. Whereas someone who had used pot could test positive and be denied the job. Both are drug addicts but one won't turn up until the person's performance dimmishes due to their drinking.

| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/21/2007 2:18:26 PM | I've just rolled a spliff, smoked it and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I think that I deserve it. Since I got up this morning I have been tending to my son, out at work and then upkeep of the house. Now that my son is in bed and my house is tidy I have my meeee time. That means gettin a wee bit stoned... I don't believe that if children are brought up knowing about it seeing people using canabis that it necessarily means that they will smoke pot! PS 2 whole nine yards ur a cute fella! ( thats not because I'm stoned either | |

| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/21/2007 3:27:31 PM | Yeaidd. Actually, my fave is Tinkerbell.
Seriously, nothing bugs me more than hearing other parents use cop out excuses that their life is oh so hard in dealing with daily life and their kids. Hell, if I had a stressful day, I take my daughter out somewhere, go to the parents, or after shes in bed, Ill watch a movie, read a book, take a bubble bath with relaxing music in the background. The LAST thing I would do is toke something illegal so I can deal with what us parents have to deal with on a daily basis.
|
| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/21/2007 3:37:29 PM | a fools way of dealing with life..... do it straight or get help for gods sake.
read a book... go for a walk... have a cup of tea...watch tv...throw on a movie...go through old pix and fill an album.... but to toke up like a loser thats a pitiful exscuse.Id rather spend 10 min of my time playing with my children and being with them then wasting my time getting stoned and stinking like a ripe skunk.

| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/24/2007 5:06:12 PM | wow, i am a single mom who smokes pot, usually at least 3-5 times a week, i smoked while i was pregnant as well and my son is perfectly fine, i never smoke it around him and while i have cut down considerably since he is now constantly on the go, what is the harm when i get off of work i like to sit down have a toke and watch some tv before bed. as far as the people who are saying that they hate it because they were iin abusive relationships with pot heads, well there problem wasnt with pot, it was probably due to alcohol or other hard drugs, how many crazy stoners do you know, i mean come on people, you want to chill out and relax, not beat your wife

| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/24/2007 5:33:52 PM | | I'm in california and have a medicinal cannabis card, so according to the state I'm a legal smoker. I never smoke in front of my son, I only have him on the weekends but I rarely smoke indoors or in the car. I try to be very concious of not smoking cigs (which is good cuz I quit), weed, or drinking in front of him. I don't know what the big deal with it (marijuana in general) is anyways, besides the fact that its illeagal. | |
|
| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/24/2007 10:39:20 PM | All these oh so well adjusted folks saying that anyone who lights up a blunt every once in a while is unable to deal with life. Thats amazing. Put down that beer or that glass of wine you keep having at night and THEN tell me who can't deal with life.
**puff puff give** and shut those tight little mouths.
|
| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/25/2007 12:06:33 AM | I am in agreement with all the chickamommas who smoke the grass.... my beautiful daughter is very smart, my doctor said it was because i smoked the green , do some research ......it has pretty good points about why YOU should smoke weed.... it is beneficial/crutial to us normal potsmokers, to have the ability to deal with the not so normal people in today's society such as mucktard alcoholics....and such, I say don't do drugs....... SMOKE WEED !! Tammy WITH MOTIVATED MOMS | |

| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/25/2007 12:37:30 AM | yikes popped in here to check it out and wow.....
I would rather have a six pack in my fridge then a bag of weed laying around my house if the cops ever come a calling...just me...drinking beer...not illegal weed is...
I can not teach my kids to obey certain laws and not the others...sorry...and this isn't just for single parents it's for all of them....
|
| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/25/2007 6:08:13 AM | ^^^ sure I can!
Actually, I'm not sure when this became about telling your kids you do something the law doesn't quite agree with. But since this is where we are...I'll go for it.
Theres J walking and then theres rape. I think any child of my proverbial loins is gonna know the diff. In fact, SHOULD they find out that a couple times a year, their mama lights up and goes Jamaican, then I'll be happy to TELL them all about my decision and the fact that as with anything else, this is something that they aren't prepared for til adulthood.
But I stand by the fact that its stupid to leave the stuff anywhere a child can see or find it. Same as alchohol.
As far as the illegal aspect...most cops would even agree, its the dumbest law on the books. If I'm being dumb enough to HAVE the cops have to search my house for any reason, then I probably deserve whatever I get.
|
| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/25/2007 7:23:44 AM | Well, on a practical note, your kids can find your stuff and use it in embarassing ways. My parents went through an experimental phase in the late 60s/early 70s and I found their rolling papers. I ended up using them as hand towels or something like that for my Barbie dolls. And we had one relative who was so perpetually high, he was a walking, talking PSA. | |

| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/25/2007 10:10:17 AM | | out of all the people that have posted, u can tell the ones that smoke weed and dont. Why is it so bad to smoke weeed? Some people who posted (some not all b 4 ya'll jump down my throut again!) have full families. They have a mommy AND a daddy. So u cant talk about us SINGLE moms who light up a j every once and awhile to get a lil stress taken off our backs casue we just put our baby to bed,did the dishes, vacumed, did laundry, cleaned the toys up,fed the cats, dealt with a babies father etc etc... u people have husbands to help u do all this i noticed on woman say "why cant you watch a movie or read a book instead of smoking joint?" becasue thats what YOU like to do not everyone else. U compare weed to liquor, nothing the same about the two. Liquor makes u tipsy and stupied (if i drinkenough) but smoking a joint makes u happy n hungry whats wrong with that? I can honestly say that my daughter is the smartest baby i know and thats a result of ME. I spend every single day and night with her teaching her she is 15mths old n she can walk, run, eat, she is off the bottle n drinking from a glass, she knows were her eyes, ears, nose, mouth, belly, toes, hair, tounge, fingers, teeth, feet, bum, elbows are and can show u each and every one upon asking. Now if i was such a DIRTY WEED SMOKER (as ya'll call it) then how could i be able to teach another human being such skills???? There is no one to help me at the end of the day, her father lives at home with his parents and hes 29yrs old! MUST BE NICE EH! I think you need to lay off of us and maybe worry about your own lives, becasue i would rather make friends with someone who smokes weed thensomeone who drinks all the time! Were not just dumb kids smoking weed were grown adults smoking weed, we are capable of making decisions, and those of our kids. Grow up and smell the refer! U dont ever hear about someone dieing from weed do ya? NOPE why drink n drive wehn u can smoke dope n fly? as i said b 4 PUFF PUFF PASS BABY!!!!!!! | |

| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/25/2007 11:15:23 AM | Like I said earlier, I don't have problems with casual pot smokers per se. I personally think that, like drinking, it can be something you do in moderation that has its own place in your life.
I object to being intoxicated in front of your children. Particularly on a daily basis. It doesn't matter if you're using alcohol, pot or huffing spray paint, it's the wrong answer.
If you tell your children to make their beds, fold their laundry, look both ways before crossing the street don't swear, and not to talk to strangers, but you don't make your bed, fold your clothes, cuss like a sailor and have a parade of strange people through your life, the kids won't listen to anything else you have to say, either.
So it boils down to what your kids see. If they're taught that breaking the law is bad, and then they see mom or dad doing just that at home, merely because it's inconvenient to them, it creates problems.
I don't personally care if you toke up - don't do so in front of the kids.
(in my opinion - it's just that, though, an opinion)

| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/25/2007 12:06:08 PM | | o.k. what r we talking about here? the fact that pot is illegal or is it morally wrong to smoke infront of your kids? It isn't crack cocain...it's weed! I smoke weed..does that mean my kids should be taken away?? I'm not exactly sure how I feel about smoking it infront of your kids..i don't as a rule, but if they should enter a room while i'm smoking i don't hide it. My husband comes from a background of jamaican weed smokers and has never hid that fact from the kids. They have grown up accepting the fact that mommy and daddy and most of our family smoke. I don't think it has suaded them in their thinking in any way...they are taught right from wrong in school and at home and I have faith that because they have seen their family use"pot" responsibly that if they decide to smoke weed that they will do the same! | |

| single parents smoking pot Posted: 2/25/2007 6:11:27 PM | | kiss...im not against smoking weed...but letting your children see it is what i am against....u state that if your kids enter the room u dont hide it...hmmm...so if your kids enter the room while u are having sex do u keep going????my point is...there are some things children DO NOT need to be exposed to....u are being an irresponsible parent | |
