ok for your information...and to those who care....i have been on this site since it began.

I made several of the rules threads.. the welcome newbies threads and also THE SINGLE PARENTS FORUM. I prefer to be out of the picture....

this thread is strictly for ppls view on single parents smoking pot, not to verbally choke the hell outta eachother so grow up ppl. Some of us have very strong views on this some more than others. I DETEST IT, some dont care.... and some do it quietly away from the vicinity of kids.

I have been to amsterdam and germany and EVERYONE smokes. I saw ppl doing bongs at the dinner table. It was tobacco...not pot. drinking at dinner and having JAGERMEISTER after dinner ( even the kids) settles your stomach, and you can even have KILLEPICH if you are sick. Thats the only way i can ok family drinking. In moderation...and its a way of life, and almost a religion with europeans...same as the french and wine with dinner.

spews my tea.........

and you tell me im not wise nor mature and my posts are likened to a teenager??? GAFB.

parents SHOULD not be looking for so called 'loopholes" to resist getting in crap dont you think???

look im not saying any parent should be thrown in jail and thier kids taken away if you do pot. But dont go around being proud of it saying its ok like its second nature, when its obviously not.

and hell yes.. IT IS ILLEGAL.

I must admit to finding the last few pages amusing. The piousness on both sides of the debate is incredible.

Can I just say to the Americans that claim that dope is illegal everywhere one word ALASKA!!!! Think its still legal to hold up to 4 Ozs So thats a direct neighbour of Canada and one of the states that allow it. Also personal consumption is decriminalised now for more of the worlds free population than for criminalised.

Can I say to the smokers that "passive" smoking 20 years ago was a non issue for Tobacco, now it is the primary reason for banning smoking all over Europe in confined ie indoor places. So to smoke Cannabis near children is a no no surely. Can I also say that Psychosis rates amonst regular users is 9x higher than the population at large, so if you are predisposed watch out.

Like alcohol these things are about balance, there is no right and wrong, a good friend of mine is advised by his doctor to drink around half a bottle of red wine a day! Another friend will be dead in a couple of years if he doesnt lay of the booze, we have all tried with him but he is a slave to Vodka. Like wise when I come home from stressful situations I may have a joint, or arrive in the Caribbean and need to get in the swing like wise, is it a habit, hell no. Do I enjoy it occasionally of course.

Likewise most nights I will have a couple of glasses of red wine, and sometime I go on complete benders with friends and we drink spirits by the bottle and beer by the gallon, do I do it all the time, no way cant take the hangovers, maybe once a month at most. SO its all about balance, we are all adults we all have the ability and right to determine what works for us and if we got our noses out of everyone's business the world may well be a happier place. SO endeth the lesson

23 pages of debate? wow
topic doesnt interest me enough to read it all. I find it fairly obvious - adults should have adult activities that are none of the kid's business ( that includes a sex life!!!) for some, that includes alcohol and/or pot - to others it doesnt. why is my choice of concern to anyone else. Some think having any drink in front of a child is bad - I don't. Getting real drunk in front of kid or while 'in charge of' the kid is bad, IMHO.

I do draw a line with pot - I don't think a parent should let child see or even know they smoke pot - its illegal and controversial. however, to actually smoke it? well responsibly, yes go for it if it's your thing.

What really make me laugh is the people who say

" don't smoke a joint , watch tv or something"

Probably one of those non-pot-smoking parents(single or otherwise) who use the tv as a babysitter..

Free thinking or force fed comercial fodder...take your pick

iF YOU BIGGEST CONCERN IS POT IN THIS DAY AND AGE ,GIVE YER HEAD A SHAKE,many other dirty substances are flowing in our citys. It is simple dont smoke in front of them ,see the big wooden thing go through that and wow your outside.Last time i heard pot doesn't put holes in your brain, as far as worrying about what others are doing worry about what YOUR doing,Most are raising without any type of disipline
It is all about choice ,sooner or later they will grow and have to choose between right and wrong,

Recently in Texas, an uncle and his two friends were not only toking in front of 2 toddlers - ages 2 and 4 - but they were passing the joint to the toddlers for them to toke too. These guys were so stupid that they filmed it and put it on utube - dumba$$es. The state has taken the tikes and the family wants them back - they were in no danger there according to the family. The mom was asleep in a back bedroom, leaving her brother in charge of the kids. She said that (OMG) she had no clue what her brother was doing. I want to know - what does she think that smell was?
I'm still shaking my head in amazement.

yes sad but true however this forum isn't about giving your children(toddlers weed to smoke). I agree that parents should be responsible while indulging in (late night activities). To each their own(and i'm not refering to the broadcast about the toddlers), ofcourse no parent should be encouraging or teaching their children to smoke anything and may i add that i also don't think you are teaching your kids to smoke pot if your doing it yourself. It would be ideal if your children didn't know however what if you're a person such as myself that does not beleive smoking pot is wrong? Infact it's been a part of mine and my x's life like forever(mainly due to religon, culture and it's a great stress reliever). My kids do know( i don't smoke infront of them as a rule) however they strongly believe that what is right for me is not right for them. Although many in society believe it's ok to smoke weed, kids are taught in school that any type of drug is harmful to them. I know that my kids will make the right informed decision when the time comes...according to their belief system, not mine or anybody elses!

I find it truly amazing how you all go on and on all the while attempting to justify why you do or don't smoke pot.

Who cares.

In all honesty... aren't we all trying to do what is right for our children? So some aren't as perfect as others (or so some think they are) and they need a crutch to get through the stresses of what is known as LIFE. Boo f'n hoo. Get off yer a***s and change your life if you are so depressed about it.

If you want to discuss individual's who smoke pot, how about individual's who are alcholics, or individual's who stuff their feelings with food, or individual's who are addicted to prescription medication's... I could go on and on and on.

Now I am not advocating for or against smoking marijuana.. but what if the said individual's are smoking marijuana for "medicinal" purposes and have an actual prescription for it? Would you still condone it?

I think there are too many sterotypes in society and too many people too quick to judge others. I say until you have lived in someone else's shoes and life you have no right to be judge and jury.

Meh... my 2 cents for what it's worth.

One thing that I haven't seen posted in this thread is something that a friend and I discussed about Pot.

Did any of those that smoke it here think about where it comes from and how it is produced. Most of the time here in BC it comes from grow ops that are run through organized crime. This is in essence what you are supporting when you purchase pot. You are direcly supporting organized crime. It wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't a spill over effect but there has been. Example, last year an elderly couple who held a gun point in their own home when some thugs broke in because they thought it was a rivals grow op. Turns out it was the house across the street.

I guess what I am trying to say is that there are consequences beyond just smoking it for our children.

And the wars are in iraq and other places are about freedom and democracy right?
Please lets not forget the organized crime that was involved with prohibition.

Just teach your kids about what is right and wrong.

This debate is still going on? I will reiterate my first response: smoking up is an an activity that will mess you up enough not to take care of kids properly if something goes wrong (i.e. injury, illness), so, no matter your philosophical or legal views, treat it like having a few drinks and keep it a recreational habit to enjoy when your kids aren't around. With older children (i.e. mid teens and up) it might be a different issue, but with young kids, best to be safe all round...
