Exchange of wisdom is more my bag.....I prefer to be right ... You think how bad that urge is when you WANT to get "HIGH"...that monkey on your back, controlling YOU.. A Jay, a pill, a shot, whatever. You are weak, you are looking for a place to get to, away from where you are.....PERIOD. Because you will be happier once there....HENCE you are sad "HERE" before you are "HIGH".. I'm done I'm out of here..........Getting HIGH is a very very serious issue. MILLIONS and MILLIONS of people die every year because of drugs... all in the name of what....??? Finally! I've been reading this thread, but haven't been able to post until now. Firstly, anyone who gets their "facts" from US gov't websites need to find a new place. The US gov't outlawed any research on marijuana in the Nixon era. So, since then, they haven't done any research of their own on the effects of marijuana. Secondly, I do not think it's the best idea to smoke pot in front of one's children. My reasoning is because it is (unfortunately) illegal, and one does not need to be getting into trouble with the law, or having one's children hiding their "dirty little secret" for them. Thirdly, marijuana does not kill people. Dumba$$es who get behind the wheel of a car while high on pot, prescribed medications, alcohol, etc are at fault for fatalities. I would have to look it up again, but it's only like, 2% of marijuana smokers that even get addicted. FAR less than alcohol, and many, many script drugs. As far as "stoners" being a drain on society - think again, and stop watching those stupid commercials. I personally know one man, who was a foriegn ambassador, and then went on to be the vice president of a MAJOR movie theater chain that bought it by the brick. BRILLIANT man with brilliant kids. (One is literally a rocket scientest.) And that's just one example. An estimated 80 million Americans have admitted to smoking pot, and of those, an estimated 20 million have admitted to smoking in the past year. One would be amazed if one would take off their blinders for 5 min at the people around them that get high. Seriously. Just like alcohol, children should not be partaking in marijuana use. Some stuff is just left for adults, and this is one of them. I would not want my children smoking a doobie anymore than I want them cussing or having a few beers. This should be common knowledge, and well accepted in the parenting community. (I would assume) There is no conclusive evidence that marijuana is a gateway drug. It's things like these that are belived by individuals who watch too many commercials. I'm sure I have much more on the subject, but this is a good start.

I dont care if high officals smoked pot or not. Any use of that or alcohol to deal with "life" and to "relax" is ridiculous. There are plenty of other resources to use to calm ones nerves. Drugs are for loosers. Period. Seek help if you need to self medicate to deal with everyday stress.

I have heard that before ....very very applicable to this thread I too, am aware of some extremely successful people (who smoke pot) and of course equally some that don't too! I am not a smoker (of anything) nor a drug user - It has never interested me! I do find it interesting all the comments.... it seems that most people don't' have a problem with pot smokers as long as they keep it away from the children . thanks for your input, it was refreshing the comment about "gateway drug" made me think , I think you have a point there.... as the pot smokers I know, have been doing it for over 30 years and still don't do anything more than just that - most stopped drinking too which is interesting ---"tea Toddlers" now...lol

River Girl - How are "drugs" for losers? What constitutes a "drug" for you? If I were on Prozac, would I be a "druggie"? If I were taking something for the pains of my cancer, would I be a "druggie"? Or is it just pot, and just because it happens to be illegal? (I'm seriously trying to understand here.) DUsty- Thank you. I don't know a lot about much, but this subject happens to be one that I have studied into depth for my own reasons. (And for you anti-marijuana people, that doesn't mean that I smoke it, or use it in any way.)

How are "drugs" for losers? What constitutes a "drug" for you? Ive explained it in the beginning of this thread. At least I assumed I made it clear. Any illegal drug, and ABUSING that drug. Prozac, Paxil, any anti-depressant, sleep aide, is an exeption. Unless you are abusing it, and have a dependency for it. If thats the case, then I stand on my opinion on any form of abusing a drug. I know a lady who went ape shit that she couldnt get her Ambien from the pharmacy. Her dr. didnt ok for a refill. She went down to the dr's and made a scene. She clearly took it too far. Her dr. had his reasons that indicated her abuse.

River Girl - It takes less than 6 weeks to be addicted to most anti-depressants. I know that when I was on them, if a pharmacy would have told me they were out, I would have demaded my script back so I could go somewhere else. I KNOW what those withdrawls are like, and I never once abused my scripts. I, too, would have thrown a fit, because I know that my immature fit throwing would be a lot less detrimental to me than those withdrawls. My cousin nearly lost his leg in a motorcycle accident. They had him on Oxycontin, which has got to be the MOST addicting crap on the market. He was literally throwing up, and having seizures trying to get off of it. He started smoking pot to ease the withdrawls of Oxycontin, and wouldn't you know it?! He's pain, and pill free. Just because marijuana is illegal in the US does not mean that it does not have it's benefits. It has far greater benefits than a LOT of script drugs do. I'm still not getting it I suppose.

flowergirl- she was on them for 7 yrs. You have a certain amt. they give you for one month. She ran out quicker than the month, and they wouldnt give her anymore. She wanted to pay cash for indiv. ones. I was also on them shortterm, for when I lost 2 daughters in less than a yr., prematurely. (preterm loss)
