How are we to determine what site can we post and what we CAN'T post, if we have to go research statistically wether or not it's a collection of spam sites...or not within the 0 to 10,000 range, and why?
Why should we go through with the trouble of deciding wether or not we should post a site on here, and we have to figure out if it meets the criteria?
I mean, he thought it was a major dating site...however, for some reason you thought differently. So thus it was deleted, so he didn't know any better. | |

Nearly 300 spammers a day are deleted from plentyoffish, there is no way i'm letting those low lifes anywere near the forums. | |

I am DONE with them all, if I can remember them all, and I'm sticking with Plenty of Fish! I really like it so far and it's great to know you "Take out the trash" regularly! That's a sign of a hard working team who want to suceed and I'm gratful to be here!

Personally I love PoF because of it's freeness. and have found another that works well for me. The site is www.OKCupid.com There are no fees and your are allowed lots of space for your profile. Lots of search opportunity, no spam to email at all and instant messaging (though not as advanced as on PoF.
I like many hate the idea that we have to John ourseves out and pay to get dates and so PoF and OKCupid are my two faves that I visit almost everyday.

Stay away from the following...waste of time...and money...at least I never spent any there.
mate1.com - They have job postings on other sites (If I come accross it again I am going to save it as it floored me when I saw it, they specifically were looking for females only, lol) ....i.e. they pay people to send people email in order to retain and get them to reupp their membership.
sexsearch.com - waste of time and money, I had a roommate that joined this and made the mistake of paying until I talked to him about it. You pay money, then you get charged for each profile you view and every email that you send...it would not take very long to spend allot of money for nothing here. After I talked to my roommate, he stopped his membership, but they still charged his credit card for another month. I think he disputed it, but did not get any money back...learned a lesson though.
somespamsite.com and alt.com are both owned by the same company. (I use to be a paid member of both of these, not right now) Both have thousands of members on it every day...but they are getting a bit pricey. If you are looking for something unusual, let's face it you have to go somewhere that offers the unusual (a normal vanilla dating site just will not cut it)...you can post nudes, but even my girlfriends say they would prefer to meet someone before they see it all just hanging out there. The problem with AFF and ALT now is that they force the paid members to pay a monthly fee in order to allow nonmembers to email them. Pretty pathetic. I would consider paying a 'monthly' fee for the right site if it allowed me to meet the kind of people that I am interested in meeting. But it has to be a reasonable monthly fee, like Yahoo, you pay around $15.00 - $19.00 per month and it is all you can eat as far as viewing and sending emails. And if they employee people to 'retain' people by emailing them, well lets face it people figure it out and go elsewhere.
Let's face it some of us are looking for a 'long term relationship' some of us are not, so just by the nature of the odds, chances of the 'right' person seeing your ad or you emailing them and them responding, well the odds are not as good as we would like...but still worth the effort to find the right person or none of us would be out here!
The best way to meet someone never is the same as always, you spend the time talking or in this case chatting, until the person is comfortable enough with you and you both decide if there is anything to pursue or not. If you are not spending time chatting you probably will not meet as many people. | |

I've not tried paid sites cuz I don't have the money for them, but I have gone to webdate and almost got taken by a guy perpetrating a nigerian 419 scam. I haven't met anyone anymore worthwhile there than I have here so here is where I do most of my surfing.

I also like the fact that it's free...thank you very much. Not everyone likes giving out their credit card info online. The way it's set up is very simple, and effective. Obviously there was thought put into this site from a users' point of view, rather than an admin point of view.
Matchmaker used to be ok, now I can't navigate my way through it with a map. Lavalife is terrible, and those two are the better ones I can think of.
PoF is getting more popular from what I can tell, keep it up! | |
