| Eharmony Posted: 12/29/2004 9:14:35 PM | | I did all the test and actually talked to a few people but couldn't bring myself to pay for the service since it just didn't seem like the people I was matched with were all that compatible with me and what I wanted in life and a partner. | |

| Eharmony Posted: 12/30/2004 6:26:01 AM | Pandora, didn't you notice on the eharmony profile questions that a lot of the time you were picking the closest of answer but none of the answers were really right for you?
Did that sentence even make sense? LOL But you noticed that right? There would be 3 or 4 choices and it said pick the one closest to right for you but none of them were even in the ballpark.
|
| Eharmony Posted: 12/30/2004 3:19:59 PM | | I forgot about that, yea, sometimes all the answers were right and it was hard to pick just one of them. It was getting to me after a while too. LOL | |

| Eharmony Posted: 1/1/2005 2:09:30 AM | | Well, I'm now living with an Eharmony success story. So far, anyway. I just moved in with my brother who is now dating a woman he met on that site. I've met her a couple times and she seems really sweet. Any woman who likes cats and Star Wars is fine by me. Wish I could afford the darn thing. Then again, why would that site be any better than this or any other online dating site? It's all a matter of luck and happenstance to actually meet anyone who you'd really click with. Then again, I suppose that's true whether it's online or not. | |

| Eharmony Posted: 1/1/2005 10:05:47 AM | EHarmony is joke.
On EHarmony, a man can only date someone his own age.
What if you want to have children? EHarmony fails to grasp the basic concept that men chose women younger than themselves for the simple reason that men want children.
Eharmony is a great site for women who have turned "invisible" at age 40.

| Eharmony Posted: 1/7/2005 11:40:13 AM | Hey Night_sailor you didn't see my post. lol I had the same problem. They would only matched me up with older men. I passed on all the matches they sent me with the box mark "they were too old", but they don't get it. I think they actually try to set the breeder aged women up with those that are in the right range. If you are 60 and want a breeder then you aren't going to suceed anywhere unless you import someone from the Philipines most breeding aged women today want a man close to them in age. Lesson for all you men out there, don't take forever to settle down. lol 26 is the age a man should be done goofing around and be looking to settle down with a good woman. | |

| Eharmony Posted: 1/7/2005 3:45:10 PM | xterryx - about the profiling questions...
actually eharmony is based on profiling questions used similiarly by consulting firms specializing in prospecting executives, ie. CEO's, VP's, senior managers, etc. so the questions are in a valid format and are usually recognized to provide about 90% accuracy regarding personality and workplace behaviours, etc.
i'm not sure that this approach is the best to use when choosing a partner since some of us act completely differently in social situations than business ones, but who knows?
i am one of the 20% who can't be matched because alas, i am unmatcheable
|
| Eharmony Posted: 1/7/2005 6:30:16 PM | | I saw a press release a few days ago saying this stuff will soon be a thing of the past. The brigs and myers test eharmony is based on is less then 50% accurate when trying to compare to people. | |
|
| Eharmony Posted: 1/7/2005 9:07:20 PM | I see a lot of evidence here that eharmony is a flawed system.
I also see a lot of people here with very rigid, narrow, preconcieved notions of what they might find acceptable in a partner. Seems to be a very prevalent syndrome in today's America, and a not very admirable one.
Why is it so many many imperfect people seem to have the notion that they are somehow entitled to and inherently deserving of absolute perfection in a mate? Yeah, there's such a thing as having some reasonable standards...but I see plenty of overweening egotism and narcissism in several of the responses here...

Yeah Gods !!! explains a lot - just look at how messed up the coporate world is at the top - they are one messed up lot could not manage a "piss up in a brewery" !!!! and consulting firms don't even get me started...

| Eharmony Posted: 1/10/2005 7:46:52 PM | Artanaxes, I couldn't have said it better. Age in particular seems to be a thorny issue.
Anyway, regarding Eharmony, tried it, got a few matches but nothing developed. Their profile of me was as accurate as my astrological sign, which is to say generally resembling, in a way that is neither verifiable nor refutable. Just the fact that they use the word "scientific" is dubious. It's just a gimmick, and, frankly, I would rather use a site like this one or Lavalife, where people can express themselves and reveal what a questionnaire can't.
|
| Eharmony Posted: 1/19/2005 10:22:20 AM | I've joined eharmony several times. The first time I used the 7 day trial, and did meet someone, but things didnt work out. the second time, after I did the questionaire, it said my profile was too restrictive/no matches, something like that. I recently posted my profile again. But this time I decided to see if I could find a promotion for the site. And sure enough, I found a promotional code where you get 3 months for the price of 1. I have recieved quite a number of "matches" so far but had to close most of them. When the 3 months are up, I will close the account as its just too expensive. But if you're interested in eharmony, just do a search on the web for something like "eharmony promotional code" and then you can get the cheaper rate to really see how it goes.
The 1 thing I dont like about eharmony though, is that you can't see enough of the other persons profile before starting communications.

| Eharmony Posted: 1/19/2005 5:07:14 PM | Eharmony all in a nut shell is a waste of ur time and money, u pay for something that isnt worth anything, you are paying them to try and hook u up with someone that u hate! why would u want too get with someone that is the opposite of u, they say oppsites attract but when u like the outdoors and she hates it then yall have a problem!!~ it will never work! so what is the point of payin for the service when u know it isnt worth it! | |

| Eharmony Posted: 1/26/2005 8:05:40 PM | | I see lots of complaining but someone must be happy with it? They are supposidly the number 1 dating site now. | |
|
| Eharmony Posted: 2/2/2005 3:30:21 AM | ick.... i lost patience w/ it after the 2nd round of questions i had to fill out. i mean, i have to invest all that time to answer an endless chain of questions and to have to PAY benefit from it? uuuhhh no thanks! i have better things to do w/ my time and money.
i'll admit, it is a good idea to use the extensive questionaire to screen out the 'weeds' so to speak and draw in exactly what you are looking for. kinda reminds me of astrology.
i can only speculate as to why it is #1 online when there are so many other free sites such as this one to use. i dont know... but i'm not that desparate to have to 'pay' to meet someone. if my soulmate is out there and i'm destined to meet him, then it'll happen.

If you had their advertising budget, your site could be #1 too. Of course they have a lot of subscribers when people are constantly being bludgeoned on the head with their ads.

| Eharmony Posted: 2/10/2005 10:16:06 PM | I deleted my account, never got a match. They keep me in thier database and always send me e-mails to use thier site. that's part of the TOS- they KEEP WRITING YOU EVEN AFTER YOU DELETE YOUR PROFILE. you get on an E-harmony mail list.

| Eharmony Posted: 2/11/2005 12:05:08 PM | | Well let me tell you that after I spent forever taking that test that they told me that I am unmatchable!!! that eharmony doesn't work for everybody! what a crock of sh*t!! I was really amused by that! My best friend then took the test and they couldn't match her either. | |

| Eharmony Posted: 2/14/2005 8:18:49 PM | The site is supposed to have greater compatibility between its matches. I feel that it has the opposite effect. I don’t like the canned q and a sessions. Even though there are many questions for my matches to choose from, I always receive a small subset of those questions. I already know what half of the questions are going to be before they arrive. It’s boring, mundane and unoriginal. How am I supposed to get to know my matches if they all appear the same on paper? I always customize my answers and questions when possible. I gave it a try because I liked the idea and bought into the psychological aspect. Now I am not too sure. | |
