| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 5/30/2006 12:15:40 AM | Pearl,
I don't mean to disrespect you or your effort but what you describe is everyday life. There is nothing you list that I haven't done (except the 1000 km thing - that's a separate issue).
Let me describe my unenergenic lifestyle I lead until recently:
wake up at 5 am. 1 hour excercise at work by 7:00 usually worked overtime (up to 16 hours) took my kids to soccer did side jobs cut my father's lawn for him - landscape for him did home repairs for him attended schooling and night seminars (regularly) laundry cook clean grocery maintenance on vehicle I usually got 2 - 6 hours sleep (some pofers can vouch for night insomnia sessions - like right now) I even made time for sex - albeit, alone
I guess I should be looking for the bimbo type because I can do what is needed on my own. Besides what you describe is like having a 'houseboy' not a mate.

Posted: 5/30/2006 2:38:17 AM | My Island... yes, it is everyday life, but as you obviously know, considering the activity level of everyday life, a sedentary date is usually unacceptable. And, in my experience, when you have a busy life, most men in my age group do not accept my having to "fit them in" my schedule... they want me to be "available" when they are.... which doesn't usually work.
The biggest thing I notice with so many (granted, not all) is the attitude that retirement is around the corner .... and they seem to have given up their zest for living..... for me, that is never going to work - I live life to the fullest, and love every minute of it. You may be the exception to that atttitude, having never met you, I can't say. That attitude of "no zest for living" is what I mean when I say "they can't keep up to me."..... and younger, mature men end up being more attractive.

| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 5/30/2006 8:12:06 AM | I'm dating someone a little younger then me.. I think we get along great.. Whats funny is that people think hes older then me. Hes looks to be a couple years older then he really is & I look much younger then I really am :)
My ex was only 2yrs older then me.. however he looked like he was 30 & I looked 14.. it wasn't easy as people pointed & made nasty comments

| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 5/30/2006 11:46:13 AM | For me it's the personality. I wouldn't rule anyone out just for their age. Some ppl mature early some ppl never mature.
biggest differance I've had is almost 12 years. I didn't do this intentionally, he lied about his age for mths, than I met his parents who had a 10 yr gap. His Mom asked a few questions but was real nice to me. Than they brought the birthday cake out (his mom had full view of my face) the cake said Happy 19th Birthday
So what do I do now????? it didn't last too much longer. yeah the sex was great & he was lots of fun to be around but his antics started to show his age. Guess that's what happens when your caught in a big lie.
Would I do it again???? Maybe depends on the person.

| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 5/30/2006 12:30:38 PM | I'm not the exception, I just think men our age are getting a bad wrap. I guess maybe the alterior motive as to why we are 'labeled' should be investigated. That's if someone (older male) feels the need to prove themself worthy of competing against those who are of that mindset.... personally, I am not.... I'll just wait and read their threads afterward.
The attitude about retirement is misunderstood. It's the entire purpose of being so busy. Rather than enjoy what you are actually doing, you're too busy thinking about "what's next?" - "gotta do this - gotta go here". That, in my opinion, is not what I interpret as living life to the fullest. Maybe that is why men are more relaxed and less concerned as they age.... it's all small stuff that is not as important or urgent as you may think it is.
What will you do when your youngin' reaches his 40's? Trade him in?
|
| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 5/30/2006 2:00:30 PM | Trade him in? Maybe! Or feed him chocolate. What do I want a man to keep up with or do? Weekends, go swimming with me, camping in a tent, dancing, walks on the beach, beach volleyball, walks in the park, just a country drive, sex on the beach under the stars, in the forest, on a bed, be able to push you out and do you on the floor. Ok? | |

If you believe a guy in his forties doesn't do that, you lived a sheltered life or you've been picking from a bad crop.
Either way, keep your head in the sand and your ass in the air, the youngin's are coming.

| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 5/30/2006 7:08:58 PM | ^^^^^^^^^^^^ what she said...... who cares how old they are?.... I have no age biases - for or against ...... age is not the issue... maturity, lack of baggage slowing them down, attitudes.... those are more the issues for me than anything.... if he is between 30 and 60 (approximately), is not a chauvinist, has an open mind, and is emotionally available ... those go a lot farther than just about anything......Oh... and of course... being able to keep up with me.... | |

| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 5/30/2006 7:49:55 PM | Hypothetical situation - Woman sees man in a bar/grocery store/gym/other public forum where adults could meet, and is attracted to his looks. Man is equally attracted, and they eventually strike up a conversation. Is the first thing you ask them "How old are you?"
Probably not, but my point is, it's not the age that is the initial determining factor in someone's attraction, it will be if we're talking about long term relationships, but how do you know at that moment in time, when you meet, how things will play out.
And why can't we just let them play out?
|
| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 5/30/2006 10:22:24 PM | | My Island I never said a man in his forties doesn't do these things, I just can't find one at the moment who does. So far every time I ask all I get for a reply, Well I used to, or no reply at all. | |

| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 5/31/2006 5:38:49 AM | | My mom looked younger than her age. Many years ago, a man asked her to dance. He was 8 years younger than her. That man was my dad. He passed away 6 years ago, but had he lived, it would have been their 50th anniversary this year. Ironic that she married a younger man and still ended up alone in her old age. Well...not alone because she has me! I recently found out my aunt was 10 years older than my Uncle. I do think it is all about the personalities, attitude and connection, more than the age issue. | |
|
| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 5/31/2006 6:02:24 AM | Not to mention the fact that it is well known that women outlive men! Statistics prove it...so depending on how long ya want one hangin around, be choosy! | |

| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 5/31/2006 7:59:27 AM | | i think it totally depends on the maturity level of the people involved. i have met immature men in their 40's and very mature men in their 30's. having said that a HUGE age difference is well..............just fun LOL | |

| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 5/31/2006 6:12:10 PM | That's funny lorr234 that's the exact word that came to mind when I thought about it. On that other hand I have met some charming older men lately that is making me rethink my whole outlook n they have some pretty kool toys too.
I'm not sure I could ever marry someone so much younger as I've been asked but seem to have a problem with that. Altho my gf is engaged to one herself n it's working which I know surprised a few ppl. It's not all about the sex as so many think as I totally agree with the age vs. maturity argument. It depends on the person period.

| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 5/31/2006 7:37:49 PM | On this site...the only men that message me...are very young..in their twenties...I am just not interested....men my own age just don't seem interested...they are too busy trying to pick up the very young women....it is a catch 22 ....I am very youthful...totally active..and can run circles around most younger women....lol...at work they are constantly telling me to slow down...and pace myself...but the age thing seems to matter to men of my age..and they just don't seem to want to give an older gal a chance...so for the moment...this lady is not dating at all...not really even thinking about it anymore...I am just too busy for romance...lol...... | |
|
| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 6/7/2006 4:19:16 PM | I have dated an older woman when i was 28 (she was 40) and enjoyed the relationship immensely.....she taught me things that make me what i am today.....
Now, I am 50+ and met a woman who was 38....we have been dating for 2 years now and we have amazing sex....as for keeping up with her....just suffice to say that we have a code word she uses when she can't count the O's anymore....
I agree, its all in the mind......as she would often say " you f...k my brain before you f...k me"

| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 7/26/2006 2:57:19 AM | | Older women are often more interesting and have a better mindset than a lot of younger girls. I'm 20 and often find older women attractive | |

I knew a girl way back and I was interested in her, ahh I was like 30, she was like 33, and the day I was gonna ask her to be my gal she tells me she is dating a 20 year old. first week, she is thinking mistake, 2nd weeks it's love, 3rd week, it a mistake again lol
I know no way no how could an older woman handle me other than maybe the sex part. So why bother
|
| Older woman / Younger men? Posted: 7/26/2006 5:50:03 AM | Yeah, I'm with Shappy there - She couldn't handle me, why would she want me? I dated a woman almost 12 years older than me, and she was the most amazing person I've met. (lol and the sex was pretty amazing too!). I mean, she's raised 2 daughters, owned her home, has a car and a great job, all on her own, what could this kid offer to her? But it was the best experience I think I've ever had... geez I think I'm still in love with her! hahaa! Yeah I'm definitely attracted to women older than myself. Not just to even out our "dying ages" either :-) | |
