good to see someone who knows what they're talking about. that is actually the reason we DON"T have a tournament. look at Utah last year, you can't put Utah in the national championship game, but you CAN put Notre Dumb into a BCS bowl. what have they lost, 8 in a row? it is all about who can sell tickets. if Tech runs the table in the ACC, then beats Florida State in the championship game, i don't see how they can logically be left out. who does Texas play? A&M and then Colorado again in the big 12 championship? that just doesn't get it done.
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 10/29/2005 12:24:35 AM | We beat Ohio State at their place in a game they prepared all offseason for, we then beat the crap out of Oklahoma who people still believed would beat us this year again, then we annihilated another top team in Texas Tech...we have two games left and unfortunately for VT we took care of business early...blame the schedule makers. and for those that believe that texas has an unfair advantage...hello? vt is an east coast team...they get the media attention that the rest of the country needs to earn. HOOK 'EM HORNS!! | |
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 10/31/2005 8:01:02 AM | so in other words, hey Texas fans, enjoy it now in three weeks, the party's over!!!!!!!!!!!!! i would have thought Texas would have dominated Oklahoma State more than they did. | |
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/1/2005 10:36:12 AM | where are all the Longhorn fans? Just because they stumbled a little is no reason to abandon ship. i think they showed some weaknesses this week, and teams will now exploit them. Luckily, you have played the tough part of your schedule already. On the other hand, you have already reached your maximum power points for the BCS poll, while Virginia Tech has just reached their toughest part. In my opinion, if Virginia Tech wins out, they are the number one team in the land! | |

| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/4/2005 1:37:37 PM | HELLO, where are you Longhorn fans? (crickets chirping in background)

| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/6/2005 7:45:16 AM | Okay boys and girls, let's review:
University of Texas - 62 Baylor University - 0
Seriously, Baylor was 4-3 coming into the game, had given Oklahoma a scare, and could have been upset minded. But, Texas calmly put Baylor over their knee and spanked...over and over again.
University of Miami - 27 Virginia Tech - 7
Um, uhhh, okay. And VA Tech was ranked 3rd in the BCS because of...........Texas beat it's two top ten ranked teams it has played this year.....
And for the record, not a Texas fan. Love that Michigan football. But, give credit where credit is due. You may not like them, but at least they have taken care of business and VA Tech didn't. PEACE!!
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/6/2005 10:33:45 AM | | no not overrated, just lost to a better team that day. way to many turnovers, not the norm for Tech. just goes to show how good the ACC really is. anyone can beat anyone on any given day. look at North Carolina beating Boston College. Miami made a huge statement. | |
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/6/2005 5:34:57 PM | May all the "VT should be #2" nonsense finally come to an end. There's only enough room in this country for USC and Texas this year. | |
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/7/2005 6:45:35 AM | | ^ only thing that sucks about that is USC wins another championship game scoring 50+ points. not even worth watching this game. | |
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/7/2005 8:12:19 AM | | I will reiterate my post from weeks ago...with their budget and their school, UTA should NEVER lose a game. | |
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/7/2005 2:41:32 PM | ^^^^^ Haters...if it isn't that VT is #2 it's that USC will whip us...just haters.... | |
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/7/2005 5:08:15 PM | big 12 is way down this year. who has Texas really played, other than Ohio State, and we all now that OSU should have won that game. Oklahoma is way down, Nebraska, Kansas State and the list goes on. hell, even Baylor has a winning record. yes, I said BAYLOR!!! these teams have made Vince Young look good. i won't even watch the game, i think i'll watch WWE raw that night. | |
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/7/2005 6:50:07 PM | Nah, you'll watch whoever Notre Dame plays AND DEFEATS and ENJOY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | |
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/7/2005 7:49:53 PM | na, Notre Dumb is going to the "I blew chunks after eating Papa Johns Bowl". that is on Christmas Eve. I'm busy that night too. I will however, enjoy watching Penn State play in a BCS bowl on New Years Day. | |
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/8/2005 4:14:14 AM | Okay timman, I've had enough of the Big 12 bashing. Do we really need to run down the Penn State lineup this year? South Florida? Cincinnati? Central Michigan? Is Illinois that good of a team? What about Purdue? C'mon dude, give us all a break. Now, if you want to talk strength of schedule between USC and Texas, did you know that every one of the strength of schedule polls has Texas' schedule being harder than USC's? All based on who they have played? And aren't those updated weekly depending on what the teams did the week before? Seriously, if you want to bash, that is fine. Just make sure you are doing it for the right reasons, not just to bash for the fun of it. They are both good teams, they both deserve to be where they are at, and it will be fun to see at the end who is the better team. Leave it at that and enjoy a nice Penn State season. | |
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/8/2005 6:20:03 AM | | I agree but the Big 12 is down this year, stated as a long time fan; yes, even before those SWC schools joined the Big8. oh wait...texas thinks they let the Big 8 join them LMAO | |
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/8/2005 9:11:40 PM | mdelong43
i never said anything about Penn States schedule. i was at the South Florida game, they DO have some talent. BIG 10 is way better than the big 12. is there really anybody in texas that thinks they have a shot at beating USC, when they have four weeks to prepare for the game? do you remember what they did to Oklahoma last year? let's face it, most people who start watching the game won't finish. not really a Texas hater, or the big 12 for that matter, just don't really think anyone can beat USC. Penn State has three very good years coming up. oh, and for the record, i am a Penn State fan, but i am an ARMY season ticket holder. so yes, i know a thing or two about sucky teams.
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/9/2005 4:43:58 AM | ^^^^I don't know if Texas can beat USC either, but I am not going to automatically give it to USC. They have had their problems this year with close games to....Arizona State comes to mind, not a good team right now. And remember, Texas gets the same four weeks to prepare for USC. Oklahoma should not have been there last year, it should have been Auburn. Would the game have been any better? Don't know...just like I don't know what will happen this year....both are different teams from last year. Texas figured out how to win big games this year, at least so far.
And btw, Army is not a sucky team this year. More of an unlucky one at times. They are getting better with Bobby Ross...give it time.
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/9/2005 6:57:05 AM | | no doubt Bobby Ross is a great coach. the problem is HIS SON. he is the offensive coordinator and has no clue. that's what happens when you run track at Navy. he's not even a football guy. this will eventually cost Bobby Ross his job. as far as unlucky - no, just sucky. they have also downgraded the schedule (umass, arkansas st., baylor, cent. michigan) and next year it gets easier. only one game was a sellout this year - uconn- homecoming. didn't even sell out the friday night game against Iowa State, the best game they played all year. | |
| |
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/13/2005 7:16:15 PM | | kansas, isn't that a basketball school. didn't know they still played football. actually, they don't. | |
| |
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/14/2005 6:26:56 AM | maybe they should change the name of the conference to
Texas and the Little 11.
alot of people talking about the Big East not deserving a BCS bowl bid because the conference is so weak. i think you could make the same statement THIS year about the big 12. texas has walked through the season, but how good, or bad, are the other teams. Iowa State just beat Colorado. Iowa State was lucky to have beaten Army. that doesn't say much for the conference.
| How about them Longhorns Posted: 11/14/2005 6:38:05 AM | ^^^^Again, let's look at schedules. Who has USC played this year in their conference? Stanford? Washington? Cal? Not much of a conference there either....quit bashing the conference...some conferences are down this year, some are better than originally thought...can't tell before the year starts who will be better than predicted...besides, they are the only two undefeated major teams left. You can't seriously look at me with a straight face and say Texas doesn't deserve to be there. And if you say Miami or Penn State, so help me God... | |
