I think you would sincerely Dale Jr gain a lot more respect if he drove for a different team and seperated himself from Dale Sr. and Teresa. Become his own man so to speak. If he drove for RCR, Hendrick, Gibbs... anyone like those quality teams, he would be impressive, in my humble opinion. At DEI, not only is it family run with stresses etc there, his Crew Chief is his Uncle or Cousin. Still relatives... and its very very hard to work with family without some stress and decisions. History has a way of repeating... and just look at those teams who have had family members racing... Petty Enterprises is number one on my list... get rid of Kyle as a driver. Great man, honorable man, does great things for charity etc... but cant drive. But he is a Petty and has a ride for as long as he wants. Another worry is Rusty Wallace and his son Steve... I hope that Rusty lets Steve find his own nitch... Other failures from father/son deals. Look at Dale and Jason Jarrett, Terry and Justin Labonte... Justin just got fired from his ride and dont know, does Jason even have a ride outside of ARCA?
Dale needs to go to a new quality team. If he would do that, he would win a championship.
Not saying this to be mean or anything... just my opinions...

Posted: 11/25/2005 5:53:24 AM | Sinjia~ Ya know.....I think you are right. Sr. drove for RCR and couldn't have been in a better place. Didn't Jr. have the opportunity to drive for RCR a long time ago? I think that if Jr. did drive for someone else he might just get that Championship. Good points.
What about Mark Martin's son? Isn't he going to be driving for his dad?

I saw an interview with Mark and his son and he was talking about the future of his son's racing and that he would be driving for him. Don't know if this will happen, just thought you might know more about it.

Posted: 11/25/2005 6:16:13 AM | RaceChik ~ If Jr was offered a ride with RCR, I didnt know about it for the Cup series. If he was, shouldve jumped at it. As for Mark Martin and his boy... sounds like Mark is laying ground work for this when he retires. He was going to leave this year, but is staying one more for Jack. But is adding a Truck Team for next year along with 9 or so Busch races. I think when he retires, he will own a team, so its a possibility he will want his son in the seat. Rusty has the Busch team right now... I just wish the dads would "support" their sons, but let them get their own rides. Too much stress.
I drove for my dad... for about three weeks. Ended up buying my own midget team... best decision I ever made. Even now that my brother is back into racing, I am in the background helping, but in no way make or override any decision they make. I sold them the car, gave them set up sheets etc... but I keep my distance. | |
