| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/15/2005 7:09:45 AM | RaceChik ~ Nooooooo dear... re-read my post hon, the best thing Tony did was move back to Indiana! More stable and family and friends protect him more from the media blitz. Glad he made the move. Yes Gordon can stand up kids... he has done it for years. I place the blame on other people tho than just Jeff. The publicist schedules things that they cant confirm because of his responsibilities for the team, sponsors and other commitments. Once you win a Championship, your life is no longer yours. I think Richard Petty handled the fame so much better than anyone... but keep in mind, most of his wins and Championships were before big time television and media coverage. Earnhardt got sick and tired of it. He would do things and make the guys swear with blood to not tell anyone.... he didnt want it publicized. Just like in death, Teresa kept all that crap from the investigation private.
But Jeff was one of the first "kids"... remember Earnhardt calling him that when he came into the Cup series... now they are almost all under the age of 30... and of course younger. And so very few will even take the time to sign an autograph, even those who pay big dollars to be in the pit garage area... the young guns will keep right on walking. But watch sometime if you have Speed Channel... Bobby Labonte, Kyle Petty, Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, Kenny Shrader... most all of the older guys, ie over 35 to 40... take the time to STOP, stand there and sign an autograph... You have to be a sprint runner to try and get these new guys autograph. And then its a scribble... Have you had an autograph by King Richard... flashy yes, but readable. One of my most prized possessions.... is his autograph... almost as great as my AJ Foyt and Al Unser Sr and Jr....
I think Nascar should do more to free up the drivers for those fans who pay MAJOR bucks to be there. After all, its the FANS who pay the big bucks those drivers make.

| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/15/2005 10:00:12 AM | Sinjia~~Okay~~I see ....sorry! And I agree that Nascar has these drivers running until they fall over but you can't tell me that they don't have some say in the matter. Gordon CHOOSES to do what he does and he could make his people do what he wants....he chooses not to! The sponsers are also the ones who consume most of the drivers time. Look at Jr. I don't think any driver participates in more commecials than him. I contribute his schedule to part of his ill success this year along with the team changes. If he wasn't so busy making so many stupid commercials then he would have had more time to focus himself on his job. I agree with you on the veterens taking more time with the fans. They know that they would not be where they are today if it wasn't for the fans. As I have said before and I know you agree with me....Nascar is all about money anymore and it's truly sad for the fans. I can complain and complain but I still love my Nascar. I really wish it would change and go back to the way it was years ago but I know this is not going to happen. Wouldn't it be nice if the veteren drivers were the one to rule the Nascar circuit? Govern it with their rules of the old days?? I know that will never happen either but you know,I can wish!!! lol
Okay~~I borrowed your soap box!! You can have it back now!!

| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/15/2005 9:05:46 PM | YAY! Johnson wins AGAIN!!!!!!!! He is now tied with Stewart for the points
the points are getting tight once again....
|
| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/15/2005 9:13:50 PM | Interesting race. I thought that the winner was gonna be the ONLY one left on the track at the end of the race. HOLY!!!
WAY to go Johnson! He fought well at the end for the win. Even made sparks fly, lol.
Atleast Gordon owns the car! HE is NOT doing well at all this year.
|
| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/15/2005 9:43:31 PM | | Jonhson was nowhere to be found until the end of the race. He was very smart. He will win the championship | |
|
| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/15/2005 10:22:55 PM | Tony had a wreck in both the nextel and busch race. But he won't go down without a fight.
I also like Jimmy Johnson so it would suit me if he won but overall I think Tony is the better driver And Earnhardt JR. is over rated.

Always being compared to your father and when you don't do as good as Dale Sr. you are put down that you are not as good as your father. Jr is only in his 20's.
|
| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/16/2005 8:27:45 PM | | I just have to say that Tony is the man. Sorry about the gordon fan but everyone has a flaw. lol. Anyways RaceChick20 you are not alone there are alot of us female Stewart fans in Idaho!!! | |

| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/17/2005 9:23:13 AM | | I think Tony must be on meds...he is tooo mellow now! I mean he went from Robby G personality to mellow in no time! I hope if it comes down to Tony & Jimmy, Tony wins.....Jimmy is a big baby, but I really want Rusty or even Martin to win the title...would be sweet! Apparently Rusty has all the other teams trying to get him as their driver for next year! He said NO NO NO! Dammit!!! | |
|
| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/17/2005 9:29:12 AM | Sis~~yeah Tony has mellowed out but it's basically from him moving back to his hometown and being with family and friends. And with Rusty...I watched an interview with him before he announced his retirement and you may have seen this but he said that he did not want to end up like Dale Sr. He actually admitted to being scared of dying in a racecar. He still wanted to see his kids grow and watch his grandkids and so forth. So for him and although you hate to see him go, it seems like the best thing for him. Of course he will be truly missed but at least with him retiring now he will still be with us! He also said he wanted to be able to enjoy his retirement so good luck to him! Take care! | Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/17/2005 11:11:47 AM | | Racechik..thanks I did NOT see that interview. I thought they were still gonna race the trucks tho? Cause like we talked about before that would be great to see the vets driving trucks...I would watch for sure!!!! | |
|
| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/17/2005 12:31:37 PM | Sis~~I think he is going to race in the truck series but I don't think full time. We'll just have to wait and see! RaceChik20 | |
|
| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/17/2005 4:52:16 PM | | Let's not rule out the old guys...Rusty is still #1 in my book and Mark is great too! Anything can happen with points this close. | |
|
| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/18/2005 7:19:43 AM | Traveler~~No one is ruling them out. They are very much still in there! And in my opinion...if Tony doesn't win I would rather see Martin win and if not him then Rusty!! Not a Roush or Hendrick driver!!! RaceChik20 | |
|
| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/19/2005 6:20:10 AM | Martin will be going to trucks next season part time, and then more the next year. He told Jack he'd run another year for him. I hope this is his year tho... he has a shot! And Jimmy just cause he runs for Rick and Jeff. Tony I think just used up his mulligan. Once in the first five races. Sure hope he doesnt have another one in the next five.... LOL
Sorry RaceChik.. had to throw that one in there. Looks like you are gaining more Tony fans here... I need to have a talk with them dont I....

| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/19/2005 9:44:49 AM | Nascar desitned the win to Johnson... dont get me wrong... I am a Hendrick man all the way. But look at Nascar's history... when the sponsor of a race is there, the sponsors car always runs up front and yes, usually wins it! No coincodense in my humble opinion.
As for Dale Earnhardt Jr... it is time to get off the coat tails. Had anyone else been in the 8 car, they would have been fired three years ago. They have had some good drivers roll through DEI, most handpicked by Dale and Teresa... and let go for not providing WINS. A lot of people like Mikey.. a goofball I know, but very likable. But he wouldnt be in Nascar if it wasnt for Darrell. So many are there as well... family pulls family in....but once there you have to make it on your own. Terry helped Bobby, but then Bobby became his own driver and succeeded. But lil E just isnt getting it done, and bringing back Tony Jr is a temporary fix.
Never work for family... just doesnt work well. Dale Jr might have more success driving for Childress, Hendrick or someone else, rather than DEI. tho his heart will always be there. DEI has the cars to do it... look at Truex... he will win a few Nextel Cup races next year.
As for Gordon... saw someone mention him earlier. This is just my opinion, and only that as I am one of his fiercest fans.... but its time for Jeff to move on to something else. His passion for winning is gone. He has succeeded and won all there is. With this new "chase" that Nascar created, it will be almost impossible for Jeff to win another Championship. Thats just one of the reasons I hate the chase... you should be awarded for a FULL race season, not ten races. Jeff should really try Formula 1 or something else he wants... cause the fire and passion he once had is gone. You can see that in interviews and even in his racing. To see him running 30th just kills me... he has the car to win. Put Brian Vickers in the 24 and it would be up front... no more testing in the 25 car, cause thats all that team is there for.
Oh well.. again, fat men shouldnt stand on these boxes too long...

| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/19/2005 11:48:23 AM | Cast my vote for Rusty! I agree that Gordon has lost his fire, but at least he has toned down his mouth in interviews. I used to get so sick of hearing him blame his misfortune on others, never on himself. Has anyone been to a race and listened to him on the scanner? I wouldn't be one of his pit crew for anything - he gets really nasty to them.
Here are my picks:
1) Rusty 2) Mayfield 3) Stewart (Indiana girl myself) 4) Johnson 5) Martin
The rest can land up wherever.
Are the Gordon fans going to attack me now?

| Nascar Chase - Who will Win Posted: 10/19/2005 2:58:53 PM | Sinjia~~Well you voiced a lot there! Yes~ I think Jr. started on the coat tails but I think he earned the rest himself. I have said this in another forum and possibly in here but anyway....Read the book #8. It gives you a whole new insight into Jr.'s life. Now you know I'm NOT a Jr. fan but in his defense....he is one heck of a driver. His time is coming and I think you best not write him off just yet! He will be there next year..you wait and see. I agree with you that if he was not an Earnhardt he would have been fired a long time ago like Steve Park but he is an Earnhardt and he's going to prove it! He'll have that championship! You mark my words!!
Now onto Gordon~~I don't think he's washed up but I do think he is having a bad year. The same as Jr. ~Gordon will prove to be a good owner too in the future and I predict in the very near future him having his own stable. As much as I hate to say it because you know how much I despise him but I think as an owner he will go places quick. Now I know he already owns a car but I'm talking full teams and so forth.
Vickers....can't stand him. Just a mini-me of Gordon and Johnson all rolled into one young punk with no true soul for racing! And that's all I have to say about that!
You can have your soap box back now! Thank you!
