since she has stated repeatedly how she was mollested as a child,...so even now,..it's all about her,... I don't agree at all. So her motivation comes from something personal... that's often how it happens, particularly in matters such as this. Why hold her to a different standard for motivation than anyone else? This implies that her project wouldn't be selfish if she'd been lucky enough NOT to have been molested, but since she unfortunately was, there's an additional hurdle?

Not fair at all. Good point yams_mos. Thanks to you and marita_b for giving me more insight.
I think I see now how she does things. She goes with what she knows and works on things she is passionate about. It seems to be a good way to do things. Even if a lot of people hate her for doing so at least she still has her self-respect in the end.
I also agree with balrog, she was brilliant in Color Purple.

Having an extended amount of wealth carries an awesome amount of social responsibility. I know Ofrah has bought a lot of shoes in her life, but it does appear she has used her influence and wealth for the greater good of mankind. For that I say "bless her".

Suddenly molesters all over the US will become mysteriously accident prone and bad swimmers. There will be no need to prosecute them or play games with the legal system.
In a world with the NOMD child molesters will simply become the most accident prone and absent minded people. Walking into traffic and off of buildings. Swimming with concrete boots. All sorts of silly things. | |

Posted: 10/15/2005 5:43:14 PM | One thing I am truly annoyed with in this country (America) is the criminal justice system.
I have moved into 2 different neighborhoods in the past and found I was living next to a convicted felon who was not supposed to be allowed to live in the neighborhood to begin with (lease prohibited it).
But for some reason law enforcement bends over backwards to look the other way when these people break the law, violate their probation, sell drugs, etc.
What about the rights of the people who don't steal cars and sell crack? Don't they count anymore? | |

Posted: 10/15/2005 8:43:06 PM | I hope I don't get into trouble for multiple posting but no one has said anything on here for a few hours and I'm tired of waiting.
The Drug dealers, Probation Violators, Traffic Offenders are doing the time for them.
They get 5 and 10 years and they top it off by taking all their possesions.
Why dont we take the possesions from the preditors? Why dont they get 5, 10, Life?
The jails are so overcrowded nowadays that almost no one is doing serious time anymore. Sometimes child predators do get serious time. My friend's father did from 1992 until 2004 for being a child predator. His families political influence had a lot to do with why he was released early.
The problem with crime in this country (America) relates to all convicted felons. They just aren't being locked up anymore. Its like prisons have revolving doors.
But when my friend's biological father got out of jail I was amazed at how leniant law enforcement was. He was hanging around the town he was not supposed to go near according to his probation and frequenting areas were there are children and going to strip clubs. Considering he was also a rapist I see this as a potential problem. | |

Posted: 10/17/2005 8:37:11 AM | I think if there were more police on the streets instead of wherever they are spending time now it would help. I attribute it to the old “when the cat is away” philosophy. Neighborhood watches can only do so much.
I could be wrong on this one but in my area there used to be much more police presence. These days I can go all day at 10 mph above the speed limit and when I finally see an officer he is often busy with someone he pulled over for doing 20 mph above the limit. Sometimes it seems that we see real presence. Too often we don’t.
...think I'll buy a swimming pool and a huge meat grinder.

He is the chief of security at a hospital and the father of two children. He has been stopped on more than one occasion because, apparently "It looked like his blinkers were out". He's also been given warnings for doing 5 miles over the speed limit, LITERALLY. Having more police around isn't necessarilly a good thing. Having smarter, better trained police, now that would be FAR more effective. | |

Or really any flesh eating creature, but insects are best because they don't require the up-keep of snakes or pirahnas.
Having giant andyean condors specially bread to fly them up to an altitude wherein falling they would reach terminal velocity and then drop them would be a good way to go. Still could be messy. | |

Why would the government kill such a great cash cow. Why drop the main distributors and get one house, three cars, when you can take thousands of houses and tens of thousands of the cars belonging to the users. Same with the traffic crimes, the high dollar speeding ticket is much more profitable, than a warning given for failure to signal a lane change. Simply look at your states records for citations issued and the infraction cited. You will quickly see it's a money game that has little to do with public safety. Same goes for the pedophiles if they are a serious nuisance or public outcry demands it, they recieve breif attention as they too are not profitable. Simply pull your head out of the sand and look around. The information is there for anyone to see. The reason it's not hidden is it doesn't offend me if you get arrested for having a joint, or if you get a speeding ticket, and for many as long as it's not their kid they really don't care. That is it in a nut shell, we are to lazy or scared or whatever your personal reason to do anything about the lack of balanced justice and law enforcement to stand together and say stop this SH**. But now if it was actually me I'd be screaming bloody murder as would you about the terrible injustice done. The utter lack of people to stand together and fight such greed and idiocy gives the power to others to abuse as they will. Of all the catagories mentioned the least profitable, the pedophiles, should be at the top of any list. The other two I could not possibly care less about. Although I don't use or condone drugs, I really don't care if you want to fry your brain and ruin your life. Traffic, we all make mistakes, and fines should be abolished for all but repeat offenders. | |

Posted: 10/19/2005 12:09:37 AM | lyny - I lost my voice screaming bloody murder over this years ago. I can vote and write my congressman, I cannot however introduce new bills into Congress to help. It did actually happen to me. It hurt and may keep hurting for the rest of my life.
This might surprise you but the ones of us who didn't know how this worked learned it long ago from just watching it in the news and on TV. Some of the stuff written into plots on TV are "borrowed" or "ripped" from actual events.
Thanks for the input but it is not news to us.
