How will Luongo respond to players crashing the net if he does play spectacular in the playoffs. You know it will happen with increasing frequency.

Crosby of course will be on the Olympic team. But Mark Recchi, is 39 years old and not Team Canada-worthy. He won't be worthy when he's 42 either.

I'm really worried about the Habs. They're a mess right now. Lucky for them they have 16 games remaining.

The East is looking nuts right now. Going down to even Florida.. they still have a slight chance of making it. There's only a six point difference between them (13th) and eight place Carolina. And Florida right now has had close to the best record in the last 10 game, with the exception of a few, going 7-1-2.

I am hoping the Rangers can claw their way back into a playoff spot..... Not likely... Either them or the leafs.... Otherwise I won't be too interested in the playoffs this year....

I want the Cup to return home to Montreal. If that can't happen, I'd like to see it come to Canada... except Toronto.
Either way, hopefully MTL makes it. But in the West, I'm cheering for the Sharks.

With Luongo, the Sedins, Bieksa, Smolinski et al, the Canucks have what it takes to potentially go far into the playoffs. If I were a betting woman, (and not a Flames fan), I would pick the Nucks to go the furthest into the playoffs than the rest of the Northwest division.

I actually would take the Flames and Wild over the Canucks.
Calgary because they're as strong as anybody in goal and on the blue-line. I give Kiprusoff the advantage over Luongo because Roberto hasn't played a minute of playoff hockey in his career. But the difference between this year's Calgary and last year's Calgary is that they can now score goals
Minnesota because Jacques Lemaire has done more with much less in the past. He's won a Cup with less talent (in New Jersey). He took a Wild team that wasn't nearly this talented to the Conf. Finals in 2003. This is the most talented Wild team he's had, and they're going to be dangerous. They're just known as a team whose sum is much greater than its parts.

Vancouver has shown it has offensive problems.

Also, in the playoffs special teams becomes even more important.
Calgary and Minnesota have the 9th and 11th ranked PP's, respectively. Vancouver is 18th.

Vancouver does have the top ranked penalty kill in the league... but Minnesota is right behind them anyways, and they've taken way fewer penalties too. So has Calgary, and their PK is improving as they win more often on the road.

That being said, the West truly is open to anyone. But if I was forced to bet, Vancouver would not be my choice of those three teams.

In this day and age any team can go all the way. If the Leafs make the play-offs,who knows. The Canucks be a long-shot,then so was Edmondton last year. I hope Jersey chokes on themselves. The Flames and Mighty Ducks, like Avalanche and Red Wings are always dangerous. The Wild be like San Jose and Nashville. GO CANUCKS GO.

Beware of the Ducks
This year everybodys got a chance
its March 7 and their is still 20 teams who could get hot
I would like to see Ottawa win it all at least once before
Kansas City or the Chiefs get it for the Crosby dynasty
however long that lasts.

GOSENSGO play a full 60 please

They're also in 8th place. Given a lot can change, they're definitely in the runnings.
And talking about injuries.. not like it matters a whole lot for their chances at the playoffs, but Columbus is down 4 of their top players.

I was really impressed with the effort the Rangers gave against the Islanders the other day. It would have been a serious crime if they lost that game - even though I was rooting for the Islanders cuz of Smitty. Amazing goaltending by DiPietro~!

If Toronto and Montreal can't get 7th/8th, I hope the Islanders get in. Aside from their looney toon owner handing out 50 year contracts, they're very interesting to watch. Ted Nolan is coaching them well, DiPietro is earning his contract (for this season, anyway), and of course there's way more Canadian interest in them now due to Smyth being traded there.
Rangers are first round exits every season, I hope they don't make it, and I despise Carolina, even though I'll admit they'd be more entertaining to watch than some team like Boston.

If they don't get shot down, the Ducks are dangerous. Ottawa best do it this year. GO LEAFS GO. Columbus got Hitchcock though. The Rangers belong in the same boat as the yankees. Tordepoes away. Islanders,Like oilers have had thier glory Days.I hope Toronto benches Tucker and Sundin next time they play jersey and literaly cleans thier clocks. I think after tommorow,Pittsburgh minds will be elsewhere. Might even do play-offs at thier new home in Vegas.

Disgrace on Long Island last night....... What was Chris Simon thinking??? An inch higher and he would have taken out his teeth.... An inch lower, and he would have hit his windpipe..... And possibly killed him....

Here is the video.....

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ht6RyAI9370

Should be gone like McSorley was.... Than said later he's a team player.... HUH??? Yeah, this is what a team player does during a game with playoff implications..... Crap like this HAS to get out of the NHL... No wonder the NHL can't get viewers in the US.....Lst's see if Campbell does the right thing here... Since he sure dropped the ball on the Kaberle hit last week...

Quote from Sean Avery in the NY Daily News today....

"Let's just see if Colin Campbell finally does something about this stuff and doesn't give him three games like he gave that other meathead from New Jersey," Avery said.

However, the rangers did get the 8th spot with this game.....

It was definitely shocking! Surprised he wasn't seriously injured by that blow to the neck. What a moron Simon is.
