Well...I hate Pronger and I hope he loses his dream of winning the cup in a Game 7 overtime loss. The only good thing about the Ducks making the finals is that the Oilers get another first round draft pick from the Ducks. Go Sens Go!!

well, as much as i would have loved to see Vancouver in the Finals Im definatly happy to see the Ducks make it. I really dislike the Wings alot so that is one reason im happy and another is because the Ducks really did show they proved to be in the Finals vs Sens.

But all in all, GO SENS GO!!!!!!!!!

Cup needs to come back to Canada!!

i'm gonna say ducks in 6...i think teemu is going to go into ottawa and get himself a couple of goals and a helper in game 1 and come out of ottawa with a split...

this is going to be a good series...both clubs are very deserving to be here. .. i thought in the off-season when the Ducks got pronger for next to nothing that they were the team to beat...to be honest I'm a bit surprised that of all the years over the last ten that the Sens have been knocking on the door, that this would be the year they get to the finals...i wouldn't have believed it based on some of their off-season moves, or lack of them...so I think coach Murray deserves a real round of applause for guiding this team to this point...he deserves a Cup...i don't know if the Sens have what it takes to get it for him

...i believe good defence beats good offence and i've got to give just a slight edge to the ducks on D...they have a lot of veterans that should help them keep their cool and stay out of the penalty box...if ottawa can goad them into a lot of penalties then the series will swing the Sens way...but i think the Cup is going to be sitting in the state of California in 2 weeks...

They'll need at least a split in Ottawa, because the Sens are winning Game 1 in Anaheim

lol..i must be losing it jokester...my buddy with the tickets asked me if i wanted to head down there for the weekend and stay over for the game on monday...i just called him to let him know we shouldn't bother with the trip just yet...lol

he went down there twice this year from up here only to find he'd gone down there on the wrong weekends...

so now i have to rethink this series thru...i think it's advantageous over the series for the sens to open up on the road...they may have some jitters and the sens fans can get impatient pretty quick some nights...
'k i thought about it...ducks in 6

Now that my wings have gone the way of the dodo, I have to jump on the Sens bandwagon. I despise the %&*$# ducks and %^&$ing Pronger. This isn't sour grapes, maybe a little, but last year after the wings were eliminated I wanted the Oilers to win it all.

If the wings don't win it then I hope a Canadian team wins it.

Go Sens !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK what am I missing ? Rob Niedermier !!! a shut down specialist ? Please!!!!!!
His brother ? OK .Pronger ? I get that
Teemu . A clutch goal scorer ? not if he's pounded silly which he will be...pounded that is
as far as I can see The Ducks have three Big players 2 defence and a goalie
the rest would have to battle to take a spot on Ottawas 2nd line
Yeah Penner ,Perry or Getzlaf would have to fight Schaefer for his spot

Now for all you "fans" that booed your blue asses off at Alfi In his own building
and now buy Sens flags and stickers for your his and her minivans
well I'm here to tell you WE DON"T NEED YOU go back to Scarborough or Oshawa
or whatever part of Leaf nation you're from
This is our team ..............Our time

no worries here lyriclover...i'm not about to go buying any sens memorabilia..as a matter of fact i'm looking forward to reuniting with the mascot from 98 that tried wiping my leaf hat on his @rse on the big jumbotron in 98....he got bored though when i grabbed his terrible towel and used it as a boo hoo towel to wipe the tears from another loss to the Caps...

then after having watched the Sens boo their team off the ice with a final elimination game still to be played in Washington, i went and asked Marshy in his bar if he's ever seen stupidder fans in his life that would boo their team off the ice when they've gotten farther than they ever did prior in the playdowns...why wouldn't they be like Edmonton fans and stand and give them a rousing ovation for the wonderful winter full of entertainment they provided...

Marshy just winked at me and smiled.

anyways...here's a preliminary overview for the series from TSN...by the weekend they'll have pretty much dissected each player and how they all match up.
good luck to your Sens!
--------------------------------

How They Got Here

Ottawa Senators

Team Analysis: The Senators have been the superior team in the East long before the playoffs began. They overcame a 17-18-1 start and have gone 43-10-8 in their past 61 games, including playoffs. Like the 1993 Montreal Canadiens (the last Canadian team to win a Stanley Cup), Ottawa's run has looked easy on paper. The Senators - like the '93 Habs - put together an impressive 12-3 record through the first three rounds. And they did it by shutting down Sidney Crosby and high-scoring Penguins, beating Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils and toppling the President's Trophy-winning Buffalo Sabres. That's no small task.

Leading the way is captain Daniel Alfredsson, and for all the talk about the Senators missing out on Gary Roberts - a veteran who could bring leadership to a Cup contender - Ottawa had 'the ruby slippers' on the whole time with their own captain. He leads the team in goals and game-winning goals and anchors the best line in the playoffs with Dany Heatley and Jason Spezza. If the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP was awarded right now, there is no question that he would be going home with it.

There's some concern that the Senators need more scoring support for their top line, but the great thing is that their top line hasn't stopped scoring! They have been held off the scoresheet just once in 15 postseason games. The team's defence has also been impressive, with Ottawa's penalty killers holding Buffalo to just two goals on 29 chances. The tandem of Chris Phillips and Anton Volchenkov have effectively shut down the league's best stars in Sidney Crosby, Patrik Elias, Chris Drury and Daniel Briere, while Wade Redden leads all skater in minutes played. In goal, there is no more worrying about guys Patrick Lalime or even Dominik Hasek. If Alfredsson wasn't such a shoo-in for the Conn Smythe Trophy, Ray Emery would certainly get a lot of support.
-----------------------

Anaheim Ducks

Team Analysis: It's rather ironic that the Ducks are facing off against a team coached by the very man who played a good part in building Anaheim's Cup-contending squad. Senators head coach Bryan Murray served as general manager of the Ducks from 2002 to 2004, and acquired cornerstone players like Rob Niedermayer (trade in 2003), Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf (both drafted in 2003). But that shouldn't take anything away from the job that Brian Burke has done - signing Scott Niedermayer last summer, acquiring Francois Beauchemin and Todd Marchant (for Sergei Fedorov), bringing in Chris Kunitz and Dustin Penner and acquiring blueliner Chris Pronger. With Burke's moves, the Ducks were dubbed a Cup contender going into this season and they have lived up to that billing.

Up front, the tandem of Andy McDonald and Teemu Selanne have been solid, even without injured linemate Kunitz. The addition of Marchant up on the top line should give them plenty of added speed against the Senators. On the second unit, Getzlaf has been most impressive, among the team leaders in in playoff scoring and slowly establishing himself as an elite power forward. He leads the Ducks with three game-winning goals. Defensively, the Ducks can play a tight game with any team in the league.

While the Senators boast the top scoring line of Heatley, Alfredsson and Spezza, the Ducks have the top checking line in Samuel Pahlsson, Rob Niedermayer and Travis Moen. It will be very interesting to see how these two lines match up on the ice. Despite missing Game 4 because of a suspension, Chris Pronger has been playing the same great hockey he did last year in Edmonton's postseason run. He can set the tone with his physical play or make you pay on the scoreboard with his power play contributions. The strength on the blueline doesn't end there, with Scott Niedermayer, Francois Beauchemin, Kent Huskins, Joe DiPenta and Sean O'Donnell also contributing. Ric Jackman played for in place of Pronger in Game 4, and was rewarded with more playing time in the series. He could see even more time in the final. In goal, Jean-Sebastien Giguere has rarely had a bad game in the postseason. He returned to full duty in Round 2 to outduel Vezina Trophy candidate Roberto Luongo, and outworked future Hall of Famer Dominik Hasek in the Western Conference Final.

Yep...the Giants are facing the same team that beat them in WHL finals and same team that gave them their only loss at the Memorial Cup.
I'd have to give the Tigers the edge, but it's great to see two WHL teams in the Memorial Cup final. Pretty hard to argue against it being the top major junior league in Canada right now!!

If it's not an "us vs. them" thing, why bring up the fact that the Ducks have more Canadians than the 'euro- Sens'?
That line sure makes it sound like it's Canada vs the world, in your eyes.

As far as cheering for the Sens because the Cup should be back in Canada, I agree with you. If my favourite Canadian team can't be there, I've got no interest in cheering for another, jsut for the sake of the Cup coming back here. I am, however, cheering for the Sens, only because I hate the Maple Leafs and knowing how much pain Ottawa winning the Cup would bring to Maple Leaf fans is enough reason for me to cheer for the Sens

Well said jokester, I hate the laffs too, but I'd rather see people in Canada celebrate Hockey championship then the USA , minus the leafs fans . I mean dont they(USA) already have best of every sport all the time well except soccer but still..... its been too long since the cup has been won in Canada.

Its good specially for a fairly new market like Ottawa.

Don't be a goof just because the Flames are out of it. Or are you saying that you only pull for the team with the most Canadians, even during the regular season? In which case; why the Flames jersey?'

"nhl is a club leauge not canada vs europe, russia and other"

Which means you just shot your own 'argument' full of holes. Doesn't matter where the players come from; they're professionals representing the cities they play for and, by extension, the COUNTRIES those cities are in.

The Sens are Ottawas team thats why they call them Ottawa Senators
The leafs are Torontos team for the same reason and they play there
Canadas team is Team Canada All Canadian because thats the whole point
So root with your heart for whoever blinds your sidings or obstructs your puck persuit

With all the talk about how big and tough the Ducks are I looked at the average size of
the teams Ott is bigger which means "throughout the line up"
every line has a big hit for Selanne 1Alfi 2Fisher 3Neil 4Schubert and four D
I can see Pronger head hunting hope EVERYONE stands up for each other

what an outdated moronic statement
do you think that Alfredson or Lidstrom or even Selanne
have been getting up at 5AM every morning since they were six
and living away from home since twelve and sacrificing family ,friends and
a normal childhood just to piss it all away for two months in the summer ?
They want to win and work as hard as any North American does
If you have to group people into races then Hockey players are a breed of their own
This is the 2007 Stanley Cup playoffs not the 1938 Olympics for Gods sake
wake up ! The Cherry train has long since left the station
ask the porter if Anton Volchenkov has a taste or the heart for playoff hockey
The only reason a "Euro" hasn't captained a Cup champ yet
is that the odds are stacked against them
Out of 30 teams 35%have non North American captains
yet 50% of the frozen four had a Swedish leader as well as half of the final two.
Racism in sports died with Jackie Robinsons MLB debut or should have
lets go Duck hunting

I certainly no longer believe the Euro players have no heart in the playoffs.... That is a joke...... I was happily surprised how great Jagr and Nylander played.... I am sure people would slam Jagr, but it's all good.... I watched all the ranger games, and he performed...... Alfie has stepped up like never before..... Actually, the list of Euro players stepping up is rather long......

FYI, players do not collect a paycheck in the playoffs..... They are simply playing for the Stanley Cup.....

Here are the player rankings from tsn from May 25th.... There are 9 Euro's in the top 20....

No kidding! Straight out of the "Xenophobe's Guide to Hockey." And I'm sure Forsberg just LOVED having to get his spleen removed after a playoff game a few years ago. Not that he was playing very hard...
