Anni...
In regards to ticket prices, they vary from city to city - especially the best seats (although most people would not consider front row at a hockey game the best seat...it's better to sit 10-12 rows up)

For instance - in Edmonton the top seats cost $175. In New York, the top seats range from $450-$500. These are seats available to the general public. There are also luxury boxes at all arenas now, which are generally rented out for the entire season by corporations and when broken down on a "by-game" basis, they would be the most expensive seats in the house.

Well I guess it would be to Mark Bell's advantage if we hit the trifecta this year. Meaning we missed the playoffs for a third year in a row. Let's see now, season usually ends in early April and starts again in early october. Yep. That would be about six months:

New Leaf faces jail time
Bell guilty of drunk driving

New Maple Leaf Mark Bell will be playing this season under the shadow of a 2008 jail term.
Sportsnet reported last night that the forward pleaded guilty to charges of drunk driving causing injury and hit and run and will serve six months in a Santa Clara County facility at the conclusion of this season.

The charges relate to an incident on Labour Day 2006 when Bell's vehicle rear-ended a pickup truck in the early morning hours, leaving the driver of the truck with head injuries. Bell fled and was located nearby by San Jose police.

Even if the Leafs miss the playoffs, such a sentence likely would carry over to the early part of the 2008-09 season for the 26-year-old from St. Paul's, Ont. Official sentencing will be this October.

The Leafs were well aware of the hot water Bell was in when they acquired him in June as part of the Vesa Toskala trade with the Sharks. But Bell said at the time of the deal he hoped the legal problem "will take care of itself."

General manager John Ferguson told reporters in June that "with all the research we've done, we feel he's in good hands."
Last night, Ferguson did not return a call to Sun Media, but e-mailed Sportsnet: "I will reserve comment until I can more fully review the situation."
Bell's agent, Ottawa-based Larry Kelly, and his San Jose lawyer, Kenneth Robinson, could not be reached for comment last night.

Wow. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the Strangers. Looks like they're about to sign Peca after he passes his physicals. That goes with the Gomez and the Drury signings...and you've got some 5 Cups with yammy jagr and Shanny. they showed a lot of promise last year. I expect them to be even better this year.

I haven't seen the preseason odds yet, but I doubt the odds of the Strangers winning the Cup are higher than Tampa's odds or the Carolina Canes when they went all the way. Nobody even picked the Canes to make the playdowns that year.

The Flyers and the broadway blueshirts are going to be a couple of teams there in the mix come April. No anti-Ottawa blinders here, but I see them tailing off a bit this year...I don't see them going back to the Finals this year...that's hard to do. Especially unless Murray can unload that wad of cash they've got tied up in Gerber. He's after forsberg, but he's gonna need money to get him and that's something Ottawa doesn't have a lot of laying around right now.

LOL...... Comparing the rangers to the chokers of the east is just stupid...If you want to make comments such as this, what are you using to back up your thoughts???

Let's see, Henrik Lundqvist.... 2 Vezina noms in his first 2 seasons.... Marek Malik the much maligned D man for the rangers is still a +108 over the past 4 seasons, the rangers were 1-11 with him out of the lineup last year.... do you think he'll get a McCabe like contract for that, lol??? Do I need to get into their forwards??? Jagr, Shanny, Drury, Gomez, Straka, super pest Avery, Prucha just to name a few...... Not sure peca will actually sign as per the rumors....But if so, he replaces Matt Cullen and brings more to the rink..... Add to the fact this ranger team is very well coached with Tom Renney......

I don't quite understand Sather's interest in Peca. With Drury, Gomez, Straka and Prucha, he already has 4 established centres. Add to the Betts and Hollweg, who both played full seasons last year, and that makes 6.
A seventh forward? If I were Sather, I'd look at beefing up the D. It's sad when a team that spends that much money boasts Marek Malik as its top defenceman.

Just coz the Rangers spend a ton on players doesnt mean they are good.
In fact, look at their seasons the past few, not all that great.
Buffalo and yes even Ottawa are better in the east.

Slats probably has something else up his sleeve. They're about one and a half million over the cap right now without signing Peca. They're talking two mill for Peca, so maybe he'll do something there in the way of 7 centres to bolster the D.

Mind you, they were the second stingiest in the east last year on Defence. Only Jersey allowed fewer goals against. He's probably going to go find him some type of blue chip stud on D with the surplus of centres. Just a theory.

So pucks, tell me how exactly Buffalo is better than the rangers..... Break it down for me......We're you sleeping this summer when they lost Briere, Drury and Zubrus??? They even held a protest in Buffalo in anger over letting these players walk.....

As for the rangers spending money??? HUH??? They are under a cap system like the other 29 teams.... They just spent it better since the lockout and had a ton of cash this summer to spend..... In years past it was a miserable failure bringing over the hill players to NY, but since the purge at the deadline just before the lockout, they have built their team..... Tons of players on the farm also.... Good players too... Marc Staal anyone???

Funny, even with their crappy "D", they finished 2nd in the east in goals against... Just as it was pointed out here by someone else..... And of course Lundqvist is "The King" of NY......

So since you didn't answer my question, I will ask it again.... What do you base your opinions on??? Reality or NY hatred???

Well blue, Buffalo will still be a good team. With Miller in net as one of the best goalies, a strong d with Campbell and company, Afinginov (sp?) on offense along with Vanek resigning they will still do well. Sure drury and briere hurt but it is not the end of the world.
The Rangers have a bunch of high paid players have of them do not perform. You think Malik is a good dman, i think he is average at best. Shanahan is old and his production is dropping and will even more so this year. Jagr still scores but is not a leader or playoff performer. His only cup if i recall was with Mario leading the pens.
Nylander is gone too.
A bunch of over paid players who do not perform is what the NY Rangers are.
