so lets say we have one right now.

you would be the gm of your fantasy team.

meaning there is a draft, you must dress a lineup, make trades with othr gms' and im doing mine based on a head to head schedule. so you would play other gm's through the season based on stats of real players on your team. there is playoffs and everything.

its a load of fun, alittle bit of work but if you love hockey its great. and besides will force us so called know it alls to be humbled by the winner lol

if that didnt answer the question feel free to message me and i will answer anything you want to know. i will limit the people in the league to only pof'ers enless we are really short i want at least 10 people would like more but we will see.

good idea smack'em. But i never have the time to do this each year. Why not have folks on here pick any twelve skaters, 6 D, and 2 goalies for their rosters on here. You're allowed to drop or replace two players as the season progresses due to an injury of any sort, up until Christmas. After that your roster is set.

So, for example if souray is off to a slow start like he was two years ago, and he misses two games from a broken ring finger you can drop him and replace him with someone else.

The goalies give you 2 points for a win and 5 points for a shutout.

i would be interested in having a team in your league, i call dibs on the Avs, and yea i know cause i live in ottawa i should cheer for the Sens, but i cheer for colorado, have since 1975 back then they was known as the nordiques based in quebec, not changing loyalty just cause they moved either.

I am curious to see how Toskola will do with the Leafs.
I do not understand Ferguson's mind with signed Clememson? Raycroft was signed to a deal last year.
Aubin has not been picked up by another team.
4 goalies
And Pogge looks like the future.
Guess the leafs have some depth in that position.

I think Brent Krahn is pretty much it for a Calgary back-up right now, not that it matters much. Kipper will play 70+ games again this year. The back-up job in Calgary is one of the most overpaid jobs in professional sports...or at tleast for the past two seasons it has been

so is the spot behind brodeur and luongo. but why wouldnt the 3 teams play the goalies that give them the best chance to win.

brodeur-78gp
luongo-76gp
kipper-74gp

and i dont think krahn will win the back up roll i see him being part of a package trade deal at some point. i think McElhinney is the better goalie, he was way better last year for the omaha. krahn is to injury prone. maybe keetly takes the reins down in quad city.

its so nice have your team be deep in goaltenders. now only if we can keep kipper for the next 5 then irving should be ready.

well maybe then the flames will make a trade with the leafs? Shit the leafs can afford to part with one of their goalies. Trade Raycroft i say.

You may have mistook my comment for a bash against the Flames Smack. It wasn't. There are 28 GMs in the NHL that wish they had goalies with the stamina of Kipper, Luongo and Brodeur.

And yes, Curtis McElhinney was the better goalie for the Knights last year. I hadn't heard that he had re-signed. I see that he did last month so I'll agree with you there. He'll likely go into camp #2 on the depth chart as it stands now. It would be a bit more reassuring, I would think, for Flames fans, to have a back-up with at least some NHL experience though, so I'm thinking Sutter will pull something off in the next two weeks.

Actually you can't count Aubin as being on the leafs roster being he is a UFA..... And since he's not signed, he has no team...

If we did a pool here, I'd be in and of course my team would be the NYR.....

...and considering the Leafs have $6M invested in goaltending already this season between Toskala and Raycroft, I don't see JFJ signing Aubin either. Maybe that's who the Flames will pick up.

here's a link for a variety of free pools. I'll check with a chum of mine that does one every year for us. he inputs all the teams a couple of days before the season starts and then you just have to go to the link and sign in with a password unique to the one pool and you can see how everyone's doing.

The one we used last year you could see who's picked up the most points in the last month, the last week and last night. It showed everyones teams rosters and who was in action tonight. It also had a section showing the emails sent to the convenor to make your injury replacement(s).

One thing I forgot to mention on the injury replacements is that you can only replace the guy with a guy that currently didn't have more points than the one you wanted to replace. Brodeur got hurt early in the sked two years ago and I was thinking of replacing him with Cujo or Eddie the Eagle, but since we only had one trade allowed that year, I saved it and when suouray went down, replaced him with Schneider. Turned out well as Brodeur went on to have another 35+ win season.

http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=Free+Hockey+Pools&FORM=QSRE2

So as not to violate POF's procedures, we'd have to select a convenor who would email us out the link to the site that was eventually picked out. Maybe the girl that did the playoff pool might be interested in doing it. Once the teams were inputted to start the season, there'd be very little maintenance to it as the rosters don't have a lot of movement to them. Probably most folks would want to secretly email their roster picks to a convenor rather than post them out here initially. Spies being spies and all..

Folks could still sign up to smackems fantasy league. for me there's just too much involved with trading players etc. for me to want to do the fantasy league thing. i've got too many other things to do besides pretend I'm a full-time GM for a team. Some of my chums that do it are like totally consumed by it all season.

and when i say i think krahn will go for part of a package deal, im not thinking sutter would trade for another back up goalie. not sure for where looking at the flames roster as it is we do have 11 forwards on one way deals, and then boyd, prust, Taratukhin, and moss that all look they are ready for the nhl.

im not liking the defence past 8 there is a big drop off, so maybe krahn and nystrom for a vet defencemen at the deadline.

godard will do his exact roll as last year, play a few game play 2 min in that game and fight. but he is one of the best at that roll.

prust will take on the mcarty type roll, with more upsides at least compaired to the recent mcarty.

moss already showed he is ready for the nhl last season, just am hoping he got over that shot he could have won game 6. he seemed to take it pretty hard.

boyd should crack the lineup full time by the end of the season at least.

Taratukhin- is the best of the bunch, if he had come to training camp in shape last season he would already be in the nhl. could get more money in russia but want to play in the nhl, right mindset. had a decent 60 point season last year in the ahl, 17g 43a.

defence just looking good 8 guys all top 6ready
reggie, phaneuf, to take on the most time of course, Sarich, Aucoin, Warrener now thats the top 5. Eriksson , hale and gio

flames should have kipper signed soon or maybe kip is looking to pack it in a few years sooner then he origianly thought which would be in the next 5. the oilers may have screwed us with the penner offer sheet, phanuef may be thinking about the green.

so see how many guys we can get on rookie contracts, if you can get boyd,
Taratukhin and prust all for cheap then giving kipper and phanuef big fat rasies wont be that hard.
