ya just like I said the nhl would do. The day before the season starts he's no longer a Phase 2 alcoholic anymore, and can now start serving his 15 games. What a bunch of phony assed hypocrites running that league.

I wonder what jokester thought of Burkey's choice of words for kevin Lowe yesterday...I guess he really told him..lol

Burke rant highlights NHL on TSN preview

"If I had run my team into the sewer like that I wouldn't throw a grenade at the other 29 teams and my own indirectly," said Burke. "So I have no intention of speaking to him anytime soon

^^^i saw Burke on Landburg's show yesterday. He was very negative towards Lowe. He made several statements including he has no intentions of talking to Lowe. He sure is letting the hockey world know how pissed he is with Oilers managment.

^^^he's just fillibusterring. he's good at that.

So same old same old with my buds. sagged and wilted in the third and gave it up in the OT.
I don't remember seeing wellwood all nite. Tucker played half asleep, almost like he wasn't even a factor out there tonite. But all in all, it was a pretty evenly matched game.
Raycroft looked weak on a couple of the goals, but maurice made the right move starting him tonight at the ACC. toskala will probably start tojmorrow nite in the nations capitol.
Gerber looked like he was fighting his rebounds a bit early on, but he settled in and played very steady.

Too bad we gave up the goal in OT but all in all if they play with that hustle, they should win some games this year. Blake and Sundin were too close together coming down the wing a lot and they'll get that sorted out as time goes on.

It looks like it's gonna be a long season for Redden as Anaheim really showed what happens when you hit him a lot. he played Ok, but I think he's going to be one pretty sore cowboy most nites.

I prefer Shawn Horcoff's quote to espn's.
At practice today he said "Yeah well they (writers) pick us to finish last every year so that doesn't bother us."

And when you think about it, you absolutely CAN'T base this year's Oilers on last year's finish. There are only 10 players dressing for tomorrow's game who dressed for Game 82 last year, so it's more than 50% new players in that regard. Pretty hard to tell me they're going to do the same as last year, when most of them weren't even there last year.

As for the defence being questionable, I don't think I can name another team in the NHL that has the likes of Smid as a NINTH defenceman. Can you?

Burke is HILARIOUS!! He reminds me of a teenaged girl whose friend dated a guy who she was interested in... lol

"I have no intentions of talking to him (Lowe)... My assistant can talk to Lowe if we are interested in an Oiler at the trade period".... not to mention Burke saying "collosal stupidity" when referring to Lowe.

Best part is, the more he talks bad about Lowe, the more he stokes the fire under the Oilers a$$es...

GO OILERS!! Let's spill some OIL in that SHARK pond tonight!!

I love Lowe's Wizard of Oz analogy of Burke in his interview yesterday. Lowe got the better end of that deal and now Burke's been left holding the bag with all his diehard go to guys retiring. shoulda woulda coulda

Sagged in the third they did. But i thought Mats skated well, and looked good with Antropov. If Nik can stay injury free maybe he'll have a break out year.
I thought the game was evenly played, but if the leafs are going to do anything this year they have to tighen up at the end of the game when they have a lead.
All knocks aside at least we got a point.
Back to Ottawa tonite and Toskola's debut.

""All knocks aside at least we got a point.""
Lets hope the one point we gave up in the third isn't the one that leaves us one short from the playoffs in April...we can't squander those points. They were the dominant club for sure after two periods. I really thought they'd take it to them in the third, but it seemed that Ottawa had more legs; and Gerber played well when he was called upon.

""Back to Ottawa tonite and Toskola's debut""
Yep. i was supposed to be there, but you know what they say; if you want to get busy in your business, just try planning a trip out of town. Toskala will play well tonight. Maybe he'll even steal the game for us.

Sens win again... Leafs score 2 goals crashing the net with garbage goals... Sens still have the same speed and talent from last year.. Leafs should of done a clean sweep and got some new talent instead of the same old gang. The new Leaf goalie looked good but they still need some fire power

Leafs score 2 goals crashing the net...

Crashed it 43 times. Gerber got you your two points tonight, in spite of all the rebounds he gives out. I thought you were the guy telling us we should stick with our Kyle Wellwoods instead of blowing up the team?

Leafs are gonna be OK this year. Good opening two games even if we did only manage the one point. You guys were ,after all, the eastern conference champs remember? So it's a good measuring stick.
We probably carried the play at least two thirds thru the two games. And they showed heart coming back from two goals down on the road tonite, to tie the match. And reviews were mixed on the disallowed goal. We just need to learn how to close the game out. The gamewinner didn't come till 5 minutes left, and it was a powerplay, so we're competing. We'll be there in the mix come April.

This club's going to win it's share of hockey games. Good goaltending tandem and we'll get little Wellwood and big bad Bell into the lineup soon enough. This team will compete. Tucker still looks asleep out there.

"Burke is acting like a whiny, spoiled child.... GET OVER IT!!!! "

What gets me the most about Burke is his insistance that Lowe should have called him first. Why? So that Burke could have offered Penner half as much? Had Lowe called Burke and said "hey listen Brian, I'm about to affer that $450,000 player of yours $4M to come here, but I'm not going to do it until tomorrow", Burke would have immediately called Penner and say "here's an offer for $2M. Do you want it?" Then Penner, with no knowledge of what Lowe was about to offer him, would sign for 2M and Burke would look like a hero and Lowe would be screwed once again.

Call him in advance? Sheesh...I mean, I know Lowe was born at night...but not LAST NIGHT.

Your dreaming about Wellwood.
He is a partier and refuses to work out.
Leafs will miss the playoffs again.

^ hmmm...that has yet to be determined. Depends how he does in his third and fourth year as an Oiler. Could be a stroke of genius or a colossal F up. Only time will tell.

...like Bertuzzi is

ll kidding aside, I gotta agreee with you on that comment chiefs, unless there's something Lowe sees in Penner that I don't. He did look good last night (one goal against Philly), but not $4M good. I don't like the whole concept of paying for potential. At $4M per season, Penner has to produce immediately. He's being paid to produce, so in that regard I would say anything less than 65 points would make the deal a bust.
