So how many weeks is smackemhard suspended from this forum?
Is it 3 weeks?
I feel a little guilty. I think I took advantage of him. I mean after all he had an inferior team and GM.
Are you guys comfortable with recinding the suspension to 1 week if he appeals to the comish?

Who's the comish you ask......ME! hahahaha

Really smackemhard, I don't want to see you out 3 weeks bro. 1 week is cool.
I miss you already buddy.

What a travesty in Edmonton tonight. Losing to the Preds, who not only played last night, but won just their first road game of the season against Vancouver. Make it 2 now and the Oiler infirmary gets fuller. Roy goes down in the first five minutes of the game, due to a Tootoo hit. I gotta say, although that Tootoo hit looked clean, what's it gonna take for someone to take that guy out? This was Penner's opportunity to endear himself to the Oiler faithful. He was on the ice against Tootoo numerous times after that hit, and although I am not a fan of fighting, letting that guy run wild and not making him pay the consequences for further depleting a blueline that can ill afford another long-term injury (Souray, Pittkanen, Greene and now Roy, all gone), well, it seems to me that team toughness is an issue for the Oil. Penner should have pasted him...or at least hit him.

The saddest part of the Oiler/Pred game tonight is that the Oilers should have won.... if anyone could finish. You just had a feeling with 10 minutes left and the score still 1-1, it wouldn't end well. Hemsky was absolutely brilliant tonight - scored the only Oiler goal, but then again, he should have had 3.
And exactly why is Andre Pouliot playing in the NHL? Ten games now, most of which have been on a line with Gagne and Cogliano and he doesn't have a point. He needs more grooming in the minors.

The Oilers already have 33 man games lost due to injury and look well on their way to eclipsing their franchise-high 279 games of last season. I'm also beginning to get the feeling that KL has indeed burned his bridges int he NHL, as I said a couple of months ago could well be a possibility, after his offer sheet stuff this summer. I can't believe that KL has not at least been trying to pull the trigger on a deal or two - looks like no one will deal with him. Then again, his ace in the hole at the start of the season was his blue line depth. Now with 3 of his top 4 out long term, I guess it's a good thing he didn't trade any of them away.

I don't know what the answer is to turn the fortunes around for the Oilers, but I know thwey're not going to get anything done with Pouliot playing on the second line and until unless lights a fire under Penner's butt – and soon – that signing may be KL's ticket out of the front office.
OK I feel better now

Maybe we can trade you McCabe for little Hemsky there. There really hasn't been any real deals pulled yet so I wouldn't worry about Lowe being blackballed yet. Most guys (GM's) know it's a possibility it could happen and Murray cited it tonight as one of the potential reasons for getting the Spezza deal wrapped up. I doubt anyone really gives two hoots other than Burke about it. But man are you's ever getting hammered on defencemen. Ottawa now has only potential free agent Wade Redden unsigned for next year, so maybe your Oilers might be able to swing a deal for him.

Now we're heading into the part of the schedule where a banged-up team can fall behind pretty quick. Teams now go into a 2 and a half, 3 week, stretch playing 7 out of 8 or 8 out of 9 or sometimes 9 out of 9 and 9 out of 10 against inter-divisional rivals. 3 weeks from now there could be some clubs seriously mired in the basement. Just past the quarter mark. Then we'll see where Forsberg goes. My bets the Avs.

.. But sometimes if teams wait till this stretch is over to start pulling the trigger on some deals, their year is pretty much shot. Chances are they'll suddenly have to start playing .700 hockey or better to get back into it. I think you'll start to see some deals in the next couple of weeks.

J S Aubin stops 45 shots to push those surprising Kings into first place way out west. Rematch Saturday night and then they get a week off.

Wierd schedule in some parts. My chums are chomping at the bit because their Sens only play 3 times in 18 days. They should be well rested for my leafs next Tuesday.

Rangers and Devils look like they might be coming to life at the right time.

chris drury.

and ya, 3 weeks is right. i could care less though. the fact that the wings won is good enough for me.

" Maybe we can trade you McCabe for little Hemsky there. "

Hmm let's see...an overpaid, under-achieving defenceman for our best player. I'm gonna jump way out on a limb here and say that deal won't happen
But how about an overpaid, under-achieving forward for that defenceman? We'll give you Penner for McCabe. At least Penner doesn't score in his own net! He doesn't score in either net

Also, if the Oilers ever make a trade with Ottawa for a D-man it'll be for Chris Phillips.

Nov. 3 - The Oilers have assigned forward Marc Pouliot to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League. -

Well will wonders ever cease? Thank the lord for small miracles. Now here's a novel idea. Bring Schremp up and put him on Cogliano and Gagne's line. My guess is he'd have more than zero points if you left him with them for 10 games.

Lundquist is hot...Damn im kicking myself for not taking him in my hockey pool. Not only do you get points for the goalie win in our pool you get 4 extra points for each shutout. This dude is killing me. Errrrrrrr he bagged his 3rd shutout in the past 6 games. He has also only allowed 1 goal or less in his past 8 games.

Any picks you wish you had taken in your hockey pools?

Leafs beat the Habs. There is nothing i like better.

With McCabe out Kubina is playing well. Maurice is giving him a ton of playing time. He is averaging 30 minutes played per game the past few...the most of any leaf.

I hear the West teams are in need of defencemen.....Oilers with Souray, Roy, Pittakenen and the Canucks with Salo, Beiska out with injuries. Hopefully Fergusion is on the phone trying to make a deal. The leafs have a couple d men they could unload.

The Oilers' D will return...that's just a temporary setback. One thing that's abundantly clear, however, is that they need a goal scorer. Damn they made Backstrom look good last night, hitting him in the pads so often (he did make a ew pretty incredible saves as well). So, although I don't see Toronto being able to offer us anything, maybe Montreal wants to part with Ryder.
Then again, what would we give in return? Two injured defencemen? Oh wait, I know - Oil royalties! The gov't seems to be handing those out pretty freely anyway

I took him in my facebook hockey pool and he's the one getting me lots of points.... My kids took that stiff Luongo.... LOL... Kidding!!! Anyways, we can make trades every month so my boys are trading for Lundy.....

Can you not make any trades in your pool??? This is what you get for doubting the NYR!!!! Just teasing ya here......

^^^"""...Sens best start ever in the NHL 13 wins and 1 loss.. Last year it was Anahiem who had the best record ever and they won the cup. interesting..."""

well here's a couple of more interesting facts. They're now 13 and 2 after losing to the Caps tonight, The same cellar dwellers that womped the Leafs last week 7 or 8 or 10 to 1 or whatever.

Some more facts. The 95/96 red Wings had the second best regular season record of all time with a record of 62-13 and 7. They never made it to the finals that year losing in the western final to eventual Cup Winners, the Avs.

More facts. Modano is officially the highest scoring American player ever in the nhl as of last night. Hall of fame game this weekend.

Woo Hoo...Mccabe and Sideshow Tucks are back in the lineup in time for our monthly loss in Buffalo friday nite...hehehe relax pucks...just pullin' your chain. Tucks sounds like he's gonna be a born again Leaf after watching this team **stardize the game of hockey the last couple of weeks.

"""Tucker hopes to help Leafs get on track
The gritty winger has sat out the last seven games with a knee injury and finds himself with a different perspective on things after watching the team play from the press box.

"Defence is all hard work and you kind of see that from above a little bit more than you would from just watching it on TV or being down in the dressing room," Tucker said Wednesday after practice. ..

Funny thing, we just played Nashville (we = wings) and TooToo was ... shall I say docile? lol Rumor had it Trotz instructed him not to fight, couldnt afford the penalties against us. Too bad Rafalski and Downey rode his butt all night, essentially he was shut down because he couldnt fight back! lol Very enjoyable to watch the frustration...

"pucks just pulling your chain"

lol, i seee that.
Leafs blanked the Sabres for their first shut out of the season. Raycroft was solid. Sundin as good again and the D actually didnt let up a lead.
Tucker looked like his old gritty self.
Then followed suit having a round with Avery in the following Rangers game. Good to see him healthy again and you can see the difference when he is not playing injured.
The old Tuck is back.

"The old stupid Tucker"

Tuck plays the perfect pest role, and opposing teams hate player against a player like that. The bonus with Tucker is he is great on the powerplay and scores goals too.

"Avery did his job taking Tucker off the ice for 7 mins"

7 minutes is huge in a hockey game to be without one of your top scorers. Avery was the first star of the game for getting under the skin of the Leafs.

Tucker wins the Lady Dumb award every year in the NHL.

"7 minutes is huge in a hockey game to be without one of your top scorers"

ya i might agree with that if was Blake, Sundin or Antropov we are talking about.
Tucker played hurt in the first 10 or so games, so he did not score. Then he finally took a few games off due to injury/
Now he's back, and appears to be more healthy. Great for the leafs who need his old gritty self back in their lineup. this was not existant for Tuck in the first games of the season. Great to see him stirry it up with Avery.

"Tucker wins the Lady Dumb award ever year in the NHL"

Opinions vary. Snooooooooooooooozeeee.
There both similiar players, weather or not you care to admit it. In fact, i'll put up an a solid arguement that Tucker is a better forward and scores more.

Slats Sather said he would love to have them both on his hockey club. Avery to me has become the knob of knobs. i wanted to see Bell rip him apart.

I like the Bell Kilger Tucker line but I'm not sold on it. They work real hard but i don't like having all our grit on one line.

Strangers were good getting the extra point Saturday night. We stole the two points in Madison Square Garden a couple of weeks ago with Toskala standing on his head. But i can't for the life of me figure out why if Ponyboy got our two goals Saturday night, he wasn't in the shootout. Bad coaching decision there.

3 out of 4 points on the weekend is good stuff. Tucks needs to still pick up his level of play. i think he needs to play with Blake and Sundin as those two really aren't clicking right now and Blake doesn't seem at all happy. Sundin seems to shortshift one helluva lot. i've notice a couple of games in a row now that once they get the full Sundin line out there, Mats usually heads back to the bench to change 'em up again leaving us with two men out there and the other team gets out of their end a lot easier.

Leafs D still aren't picking up the right man on a weakside rotation. A couple of the Sens goals, the first two quick ones were on the weakside rotation. But at least they're finally starting to collapse down low for their goalie.

Kubina's out by the way. MCL.

I don't know what game you were watching but perhaps you missed the pregame skate antics of Avery.
It was not Tucker getting the best of Avery here. This was clearly premeditated by Avery and he succeeded.

Tucker averages 25 goals a season and Avery 10. 7 minutes in the penalty box for both of them is a victory for the Rangers and oh ya New York won the game.
Gee I wonder if Tucker could have scored in that 7 minutes. Tucker is stupid!
