Pretty obvious that you're not angry or jealous...you're merely discussing the facts with someone that doesn't like to hear it.

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/16/2008 2:29:26 PM | "she's defensive and resorting to the emotional argument tactic"
I was going to say that tock, but surely that would have resulted in me being tagged as a woman hater
Shame on you tock...you woman hater you

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/16/2008 7:22:16 PM | aww you would have to resort to playing the emotional woman card wouldnt you...Im glad you good ol boys had a laugh How about we bring our little pissing contest to an end, we actually werent seeing the issue from too far apart, agreeing on some, disagreeing on others. Perhaps I had the anger issue wrong, Ill admit that...Im sure it didnt bother you THAT much lol
Now....pick a winner. Wings vs Cannucks. Call it...lets see just how good you two are.
I call Wings win, something close like 3-2 or 2-1....course if hasek is in net, I could lose this bet
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/16/2008 7:45:13 PM | | Misplace ...amazing how you exposed there lack of argument. Because they had no facts to stand on they had to degrade your statements as the rant of an emotional woman and therefore not worthy of their consideration. | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/16/2008 7:59:13 PM | ^^^ Kaos, like she said, we were pretty much on the same side in the argument.
But like I said, all hail the Edmonton Oilers - the most suxccessful playoff franchise in the Western Conference. See? Anyone can fudge numbers to favour their team. That's what statisticians do for a living.
As for picking a score in the Wings/Canucks game, I'll go with 4-1 Wings, regardless of who is in net. Can't see them going on a 4-game losing streak
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/16/2008 8:11:20 PM | """...Can't see them going on a 4-game losing streak...""" Stranger things have been known to happen. Heck the Washington Capitals just wrapped up the season sweep on the Sens last night.

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/16/2008 8:22:27 PM | As I have said all along the Wings playoff record when compared to the rest of the division is comparable and on the higher end. That is when it is measured playoff record versus playoff record.
Their record is manipulated by you by weighing it against their regular season record. The original statement was the Wings suck in the playoffs, not compared against their regular season. Unfortunately the for your arguement the stats don't lie. Only one team in the most recent measure(last playoff run) was better. How will you manipulate that. How far back do you want to go?
Edmonton had a hell of a run in the 80's. As I hockey fan and someone who played against Gretzky I thouroghly enjoyed it. But it's long over.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/16/2008 9:28:22 PM | My goodness you Wings fans are silly! Whoever said the emotional argument tactic had anything to do with you being a woman (no, I'm talking about the other Wings fan, Kaos). Even men can use that tactic when they're trying to deflect from the weakness of their argument. Funny how people reach for things when they're being defensive. Too funny!!
Anyhow, I predict a Wings victory over the Canucks.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/16/2008 10:04:31 PM | Just in the 80s? Hmm...well, from where I sit, looks like the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames are the only two teams in the West to have reached a Stanley Cup Final in each of the past three decades. Pretty consistent performance from the Alberta teams ...oh yeah...and both teams have made it to the finals since the last time the Red Wings did. I'd say perhaps Detroit's run looks more "over" than Edmonton's

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/17/2008 6:27:02 AM | Wow ...do you watch hockey at all?
It's only a run if you make the playoffs every year how many times in the past 10 years have these teams missed the playoffs?
The years they lost in the Cup finals nice but they were the aberration.
It would be nice if both of them make the playoffs this year. After many years of no playoffs the people of Alberta so deserve to see playoff hockey.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/17/2008 9:43:07 AM | "It's only a run if you make the playoffs every year"
Those are the rules, because kaos says so!!!!
Relax dude...I was making light of the whole thing.
PS... "Wow ...do you watch hockey at all?"
^^^^^
See, misplaced? That's an example of the personal attacks I was referring to, when discussing frustrated posters.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/17/2008 11:24:46 AM | | The Oilers would be in the playoffs every year with the talent they have - if only they had a coach to go with it!!! | |

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/17/2008 2:17:29 PM | ^^^^ At least he finally figured out that Garon should be his number-one goalie. THAT only took 3 months | |

Wings beat the Nucks. Luongo made it a game, stopping near 50 shots. I havent seen the Canucks give up that many shots against all year. Vancouver shows they can play with the best at least. That old fart Hasek actually looked good in the shootout. Then again he faced some deadbeat shooters though...Pyatt? Linden? WTF was the Canucks bench boss thinking choose them?
"At least he finally figured out that Garon should be his number one goalie"
yes Garon has been good. Rollie was never a number one goalie in my opinion. He is only valuable sharing the netminding duties.
I like how Calgary picked up Cujo....Smooth move by flames management. it will be nice to see Kipper get a nite off here and their (way over worked) and have a quality goaltender handle duties while he does so. I thought this was a great pick up by the Flames.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/18/2008 3:35:25 AM | I thought Linden had a pretty good shootout record... actually best on the team, Was when I was stuck on the Island, anyway. How about that 12-rounder between the Oil and Caps yesterday! MacT was probably wishing he was still on the roster. He was money on breakaways in his career...of course, he only had 2 a year but still...
I hate to say it, but I agree, that Cujo signing was a great one by Calgary.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/18/2008 7:22:56 AM | LOL Pucks....yeah the old fart pulled it off. I thought for sure, with it going to shootouts, he would lose it like he usually does but he surprised me. He wasnt moving really well during the game, would go down and stay down, couldnt get up or move side to side very well, but he did okay considering he only had to stop 26 compared to Luongo, who was nothing short of AMAZING.
Kaos: thanks ;) I think someone has a problem with women on a sports board (dont give me that crap about emotionality being used in an argument against a man ticktock...BS...especially when its a MAN saying it) but thats ok. Im used to it. Ive posted on a number of Wings forums and theres always a handful of men who take what I know and twist it into an emotional argument simply because Im a woman when men post very similar posts and its simply an argument then. Ah well!
Btw I called 3-2 on the game last night. I win On to San Jose!

your right he does...but that will catch up to him i think...as evident last nite missing against Hasek. He hardly plays, doesnt score anymore and is not used much by the Nucks.
"How about that 12 rounder between the Oil and Caps yesterday"
Rollie actually looked good in the so too. Im surprised the Oil lost with their record in shootouts this year. As for someone saying MacT is a bad couch (not your prairie, cant remember who it was), i think that is baloney. He has done well with what he has been given this year and took the team to one game away from the Cup.

Sounds you have issues. Y0u sound like the type that walks around like claiming everything is an example of discrimination. There have been many female posters on the several hockey threads on this forum and on other forums that have been valuable contributors to the discussion and do not resort to attacking other posters with arguments like "you're jealous" or "you're angry" - that's what we call the "emotional argument tactic" where someone, like yourself, tries to agitate another poster (like Prairie Pundit" by claiming they're being "jealous" or "angry" when they are simply just discussing hockey issues(and, in this case, dismantling your arguments). Have you finally figured it out yet or are you going to continue to carry on with that victim mentality ?
I think someone has a problem with women on a sports board
I think someone has a problem with people of a different ethnic backgrounds on a sports board (see...I could play that dumb game as well)

Didn't get a chance to watch the game, but I had a feeling the Nucks would lose this one. I thought they'd lose it in regulation, but I'm surprised they actually made it to OT. Looks like they're going through a bad patch, but so are a few teams in our division.

First of all, I was trying to poke fun at him because of the way he took my original post. He didnt get it (at first) and obviously you arent getting it either. He didnt pull apart ANY argument because we were ON THE SAME PAGE, just saying it in different ways...HE got that part, I would think if you were paying attention to the following posts, YOU would get it but no....youre stuck on attitude.
" Have you finally figured it out yet or are you going to continue to carry on with that victim mentality /"
I have never played victim in my entire life....you have the wrong woman there tick.... again, man/woman issues. Move along doggy Im so done with that conversation and Im sure everyone else on this thread is as well....attempt to stick to the thread topic ok? Enough is enough. I call peace :bounce:

Wings just came off a 3 game losing streak, and if youre familiar with their past seasons, sometimes they cant get OUT of a streak like that for awhile...I think they get lazy because they get so far out ahead of everyone else, they 'think' they can lay back and lose a few, then it overwhelms them. They have an okay record against Vancouver but of course all bets are off in todays matchups...was a good game. Not as many hits or fights as I thought there would be, Canadian teams usually beat the crap out of us (not in the score, i mean literally) but yeah, decent game. Hasek did ok with the shootouts, which is unusual for him. San Jose tonight, always a team the wings have problems winning against, like Nashville and Chicago, no matter where they are in the standings. Should be in-tuh-rest-ing

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/19/2008 7:38:30 AM | ohhh tickers at it again i see. oh the fun i have had going back and forth in battle with you.
anyways
kipper is looking great now. looks like a changed goalie. thats 2 great games in a row from him now. all started with cujo coming in.
im interested in seeing who is going to get traded. sounds like tangs is willing to wave his no trade clause. sutter has been in a few nhl cites. how sweet would the flames look if we could pick up a guy like Sundin, i think he would fit the team just right. although i hear Jokinen name being put out there again.
getting rid of tangs 5.5 mill will go along way into being able to sign phaneuf and maybe have enough room to keep lanks or juice. maybe even both of them. hate to see any of those 3 go,
go flames go in sutter we trust

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/19/2008 9:44:06 AM | OK seeing's how you're talking about me, I feel compelled to respond.. First off, you say ...
"First of all, I was trying to poke fun at him because of the way he took my original post. He didnt get it (at first) and obviously you arent getting it either. "
Not true at all. I had no issue with your first post, and, according to my original post . It was your second post that made (and still makes) no sense. This one: "Looks like Kaos is a step ahead....lol sorry about that!"
Considering that's all you say in your second post, and it basically contradicts your first post, that's what I took issue with (scroll back and read it again...you'll see... post 5170) Also, by reading 5170 you will see that I completely "got" your first post.
Now, if you're trying to say I took that second post wrong and that it was written in total sarcasm, I can accept that...but all you had to say from the outset is "That second post is just written in sarcarsm" or "oops, sorry...that should have read 'looks like tick tock is a step ahead' " and this whole thing would have died a quick death.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/19/2008 11:39:06 AM | I was talking about you? I said you didnt get what I was saying at first, then you got it...lol *shrug* And if you were paying attention, what I meant by Kaos being a step ahead was that while I was posting my original one, Kaos had already posted the stats...I apologized because it was two large posts (his and mine) full of numbers and stats...if I had realized he had posted it before me, I wouldnt have posted mine. It was just a general comment, that is all. So yes, you DID take the post wrong. I did try to indicate that you had misunderstood and that I was kidding around, but of course the argument had taken flight by then and instead of explaining, it got sidetracked and I ended up defending. Its ridiculous. Ive asked repeatedly that you and ticktock drop it and you continue to go on. If you continue, youre both going to be blocked just to put an end to this. Id prefer to read what you have to say about hockey throughout the season, you both make some decent points and Im interested in what you have to say about hockey, so i am asking one more time, let it freakin DROP already. My lord. | |

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/19/2008 12:14:49 PM | Hockey anyone? ...... Alfie's hip flexor may be more serious than initially thought...maybe even keeping him out of the lineup right up to the playoffs...hmm...Heatley's out already, so now we'll get to see how good this club is without relying on their one big line. Flyers Sens tomorrow...Downie & McCammond reunite for the first time since the big hit.
As for trades, the way that asst. GM for Mtl has been following the Flames around since Christmas, it almost seems inevitable Tanguay for Ryder. Tanguay's 5+ mill will help Sutter next year to sign Huselius, Phaneuf, Langkow and possible Conroyd... Ryder's free to go after whatever he wants this summer. Another rumour has Tucker going to the Flames for Dustin boyd.
San Jose definitely needs to make a deal for some goaltending help. Nabakov's gotta be hitting the wall soon...not a day off yet. maybe the All-Star break will count as his break.
Mark Bell of the leafs will be out another 8 weeks afer getting his face punched in, so it looks like all in all we'll get maybe 30 games out of Bell this year, plus the impending playoffs of course. Then he gets to go do his time in the bighouse. Tough times for Bell. I guess he's lucky he didn't get the 4 years Ramage got so far for being responsible for Keith Magnuson's death.
If the next 25 games play out similar to the last 25 games, Brucey Boudreau will be a serious contender for Coach of the year.
If you continue, youre both going to be blocked... hmmm How do you do that?
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/19/2008 12:20:53 PM | Kitty. if you want to stop it then it can be easily stopped..but you did keep it going by tossing out outlandish and bizarre statements and accusations. You need to accept responsibility for YOUR actions in this altercation. Stick to hockey and don't try and sidetrack it with nonsensical accusations. Anyway, that being said, let's "move along, doggy."
Hey smack...yes, we've had some good moments haven't we. It's been a while.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/19/2008 12:38:50 PM | "If you continue, youre both going to be blocked just to put an end to this. "
Oh God NO! ANYTHING but blocking me...how would I EVER get over something as severe as that!!!!
Oh wait. I already am.
What amazes me about this whole thing is how it took you four days to point out that your comment that I misinterpreted was about something totally different than what I believed it was. Now that you explain what it was about, it's clear that I misinterpreted it, but rather than explaining that in the first place, you chose to bicker.
