| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/29/2008 10:25:17 AM | So for all hockey fan's viewing pleasure...Just how dumb is Ray Emery?? duh.
"""Emery craps out - Goalie might be done as Senator ...The troubled goalie showed up late for practice yesterday after spending the all-star break in Las Vegas and may have played his final game in an Ottawa uniform. Emery could be facing an indefinite suspension without pay ..."""

Some guys just never seem to get it..

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/29/2008 10:58:19 AM | I'm pretty sure it was on this thread back in August, before training camp even started, where I said that if Emery even makes it to the end of the season with the Sens, I'll be surprised. Some things are just too easy to predict. | |

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/29/2008 11:23:53 AM | | rumour is hes off to l.a. for very little return. | |

I can think of a certain goaltender Edmonton who, with his $4M contract, may be up for grabs as a back-up for Gerber

Also voted as one of the Greatest Canadians ever.
Long Live Don Cherry | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/29/2008 5:34:41 PM | Don Cherry PLAYOFF coaching record: 31-24 all time, zero Stanley Cups.
Why does it not surprise me that a coach who did well in the regular season and underachieved in the playoffs get's kaos's seal of approval?
(you walked right into that one kaos )
As for him being voted a greatest Canadian...that says more about the voters (Canadians) than anything, to vote a blatant bigot as one of our greatest ever. Yup. that was a proud moment in Canadian TV history alright.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/29/2008 6:28:39 PM | Walked into what? I don't have any Cups do you?
Fortunately you are in the minority on Don Cherry as proven by his ratings. I guess most of Canada is not as smart or advanced as Prairie.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/29/2008 6:38:10 PM | "Walked into what? I don't have any Cups do you?"
Hmmm...aren't you the one that has been defending the Red Wings' mediocre playoff performances, spinning them off as the most successful team in the Conference? Maybe not. Maybe that's someone else. Sorry about that. I take it back.
As for the comment "Fortunately you are in the minority on Don Cherry as proven by his ratings." Fortunately? I would say Shamefully. But, as for being in the minority, yes, I totally agree with that. It is a shame that most people cannot see through his charade and that they accept not only his bigotry, but the fact that they are paying for him to advertise it so blatantly.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/30/2008 8:56:45 AM | The facts are what the facts are Detroit's playoff record as I stated is at the top of the Conference in the short run not the best but better than most when compared against the other teams playoff record. Over the last 10 seasons they are the best.
Prove otherwise.
<div class="quote">It is a shame that most people cannot see through his charade It's a shame most people can't think and be as enlightened as you is what you are really saying! With regards to Cherry lets here some facts as to his bigotry or it's just bigotry from you.
Was Pat Quinn a better coach?
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/30/2008 9:12:57 AM | Thanks kaos. I was pretty sure it was you that defended Detroit's under-achieving playoff record.
You want facts to prove Don Cherry's bigotry? Gawd man, watch Coach's Corner. He purposely stumbles over European names, virtually every week. He mocks Europeans, says things like "Well, look at the guy Simon stepped on, I mean, those kind will stab you in the back all the time..." Refers to Alfredsson as "Krusty the Clown"... sheesh, I could go on ad nauseum, but really, you know all this kaos. If you don't then I'm sorry...I give you more credit than you deserve. Proof that Don Cherry is a bigot? There's new proof of it every Saturday, 5:40 p.m. MT.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/30/2008 9:47:32 AM | | the one thing i did agree with cherry on,was the instigater rule.i still think they should abolish it.never happen i know but... | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/30/2008 10:33:23 AM | Don Cherry is critical of all soft style hockey players. The man says what he thinks. He is old school. You can call him a biggot all you want but that doesn't make it so. He also praises many Europeans who play a more Canadian style and rips on soft Canadians. Thats not bigotry thats just desireing good old school "rock em sock em hockey". You got a problem with that move to Europe!
Cherry support of our troops and his support of women's hockey especially the National Team has done a lot for the success and moral of both. Several years ago his mentioning on air of the deaths of two people I knew who were killed while driving their grandsons to a hockey game was an incredible boost to the parents who were dealing the death of their parents and serious injury to there child.
Cherry is a Great Canadian who has been good for the CBC,Canadian hockey and the NHL.
|
| |
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/30/2008 10:57:32 AM | Call him a hero all you want. He is a bigot. In your eyes, he's good for hockey. In mine, and many others, he's one of the biggest things holding hockey back from being taken seriously anywhere outside Canada.
"You got a problem with that, move to Europe."
No thanks. I love Canada. You got a problem with that? YOU move.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/30/2008 11:19:22 AM | I like Don Cherry, mind you ive met him on a few occasion, I wouldn't go as far as to call him a hero but he's a entertainer , his job is to stir things up.
But to think Cherry is one of the biggest reason hockey isnt taken seriously outside of Canada is a bit of a stretch, don't get me started on hockey in the US markets please.
The NHL is a mess right now and its starts with the Owners , The ( im coughing now) the Commissioner , the Players Association you name it, they all have a hand in it.
Wrong guy running the league, too many teams in the NHL, too many fringe players oh man, this once great sport has turned into a second tier professional league.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 1/30/2008 12:05:49 PM | Who said he was a hero? He is just a great Canadian.
I used to referee hockey in the Detroit , Cleveland and Chicago areas. They Loved HNIC and Don Cherry. Never let the facts get in the way of a good hate eh Prairie.
Long Live Don Cherry and Old Time Hockey!
Let's take a poll on here...I will tally the vote.
