and thats why the 1 year 1.9 mill contract. its a prove what you can still do kind of deal. he is lighter then he was last season. sutter isnt asking him to score 40 more like 20 and get 40 points. im more exicted about cammi coming in and tangs and juice leaving then anything. flames were lacking a player thats good in frount of the net, bert is pretty damn good. better putting him in frount then using dion for that. rather have dion on the point.

the moore incident is so boring now, come on give it a rest. think what you want but at 1.9 mill 10 goals and 20 assists is still a good deal. draper gets paid more and yet had only 9 goals and 8 helpers you look at any 1.9 million players and they all sit around that much, i dont get your point? ohh loo at the flames they are looking at worst of getting value of the contract? bert is 33 years old, lighter in better shape then he has ever been in his career. bert is exicted about playing here, iggy is happy to have bert here. like him or not the flames just added to there team big in cammi and bert for tanguay and juice going out. conroy takes a massive home town discount langkow takes a discount reggie is on one of the best contracts in the nhl (excluding entry leval deals lol) iggy and dion both on discount contracts funny how the players dont know as much as kaos though, he seems to think he is more hockey smart then guys that do it for a job. people are coming to calgary, staying there becouse they want to play here and they want to win here. they belive in sutter, keenan and the captain. but hey kaos i guess thats why your paid so high to write about hockey......or the inside info you have...

lol Smack... Draper is one of the best penalty killers in the game. One of the best face off men in the game and he does all this on the best team in hockey. There is a reason they are the best team in hockey and it's because of quality players like Draper. Bertuzzi adds nothing ziltch, nada. I gave up on Bertuzzi when he built that atrocious fence around his home in Kitchener(which I have seen). He's a selfish player and damaged goods. smack don't get me wrong I like Calgary's team...just not for the same reasons as you. I like that Detroit can whip up on them every couple of years or so. smack it's time for you to become a Red Wing fan. Come on you can cheer for an American team.

bert adds a strong powerforward that can help on the powerplay, even if thats just standing infrount of the goalie. selfish players dont work out to drop weight, wouldnt sign to play for keenan. yeah the wings sure whipped on us in 04 when we shut you out games 5 and 6. you must be getting old as your memory seems to be failing you. you dont become a fan kaos. its in your blood, its that pride and passion for the city i was born, and the game i love. ive never been to detroit, ive never lived there. never tasted the culture. i do what the city wide feeling, passion, power, and what its like to truly be part of something bigger then a game though. 2004 and the mile was nothing short of magic, a special time of any flames fans life that will never be forgotten and will never be the same. i pity other fans, even fans of teams with more cups they will never feel that. go flames go in sutter we trust bert comeback player of the year 08/09

Well have to tip my hat and hand it to our provincial rivals down the highway if they pull this one off. Reports have Murray pulling the trigger on what should be a good deal for the Senaturds. 3 way deal with LA and Chicago. Gerber goes to LA along with Meszaros and coming back to Ottawa from Chicargo is the Bhulin wall and either Cam Barker or Brent Seabrook. Nice deal. Chicargo gets Anze Kopitar which fills out their starting 6 forwards and should give them a high octane offence this season. Sens give up a shaky starting goaler and a somehwat overrated young d-man for a goaler that's actually backstopped a club to a Cup as well as one of two blue chip blueliners. Kopitar's a good one but no one ever sees him playing out in LA, but wow, either of those two defencemen coming out of Chicago are both good ones. Both are top 2 defencemen, but they'll probably want Barker who is more in line with quarterbacking the power play.. Persistence breaks down the resistance. murray's been after Khabibulin for over a year now. Oh I would love it if Gerber got moved and it wouldn't hurt my feelings to have Khabibulin on my Ottawa Senators.... Nice deal for Chicago also....I thought when the got Huet and paid him the $$ they did that they wern't going to keep Khabibulin... I think LA gets the raw end of this 3 way.... Damn I hope this happens

I can't wait till the Mighty Mighty Wings visit NC to play the Candy-Canes it is going to be awesome! I've seen the Wings at the Joe and I could not believe the feeling I got when I walked in there and saw the statue of Gordie, Man I still get chills thinking about it. I also saw them last year when I was on vacation in Minnesota (they won and that is all that matters).

Some one in an earlier thread mentioned it and since thats the only time I've even heard of it..........so just wondering....anyone know anything about the possibility of this happening?

Obviously not a hockey fan! Newsflash: There may be hockey fans out there who like somebody besides the Wings. They're not really one of my favs either but I hafta give them my respect. (even picked them to win it all before the playoffs began in another thread here someplace) I guess folks should just leave this thread for you and Smack's debates. And an occasional (though sometimes a tad longwinded ) bit of knowledgeable input from Sly. A few others from time to time too, but remarks like that last one should likely keep their #s down for yas. No disrespect, but what was that you just posted?

i am not a wings fan either.that being said i do believe god is.lol.i have said it before,if you are going to model your franchise around another orginization,detroit is the standaed.the biggest thing they project is lack of ego.there scouting staff works together to find the nright player.one person doesnt recieve the credit.this is the same for the players.you nnever hear a player on there team projecting themselve as being more important than the other.all their players start on the fourth line and work their way up.you have to be able to apply your game to all aspects of the team.if you look at how they developed player like hudler and franzen,you start to realize that those players would not have achithe same success on other team.this is what seperates them from the rest of the league.

That would be a horrible trade for LA. It was originally suggested by a complete moron who likes to pretend he's an insider. Holland is the best GM in hockey. He listens to his scouts and his assistants, and let's people do their jobs. He rarely makes a bad trade or overpays for anyone, and when he does he's not afraid to admit it was a mistake and fix it. They draft kids who have time to develop at their own pace and won't force a kid into the lineup before he's ready. The Wings tradition allows them to tell players to check their egos at the door, and having 2 hockey legends like Howe and Lindsay in the Joe almost everyday helps that along. Sasquatch adds nothing but a big body anymore. $1.9 mil for 30 points to a guy who doesn't play good defense, can't skate, and isn't much of a fighter anymore is way too much, especially when he'll miss at least 20 games because his back hurts. At least now he'll be closer to his wild cousins.

TIC- TSN is reporting.... The league is actually as we speak involved in top secret meetings with Mike Illitchy owner of the Detroit Red Wings. The aim of the meetings is to convince Mr. Illitchy to lend his Red Wing management team for the betterment of the NHL. The league would then use these men to prop up some of the lessor lights in the league (L.A. Florida, Toronto, Calgary). The men the leagues wants Illitchy to put on loan.. Jim Nill, Steve Yzerman, Scotty Bowman, and Jimmy D. The league has actually agreed, in negotians to meet Mr Illitchy's one demand. That demand is that all the teams that receive a Red Wings management person to run their club must agree to add Red to their names for the duration of the contract. So this fall we will see the the L.A. Red Kings, Calgary Red Flames and the Toronto Red Maple Leafs. Gary Betterman League President was quoted as saying "if Mr. Illitchy asked for it to be called the NHRL, National Hockey Red League I would agree"!

slysterling, thanks for the reply and comments. It's been a long time since the Kings were competitive and the rumors about Kopitar being traded for a d-man have been making my head spin. They do have a good, young core. They haven't had a decent goaltender since, come to think of it, I can't remember.
