I watched the entire game. It looked, at first when it was 4-0, as if it was going to be another one of those games but Mario scored and opened up the floodgates. They scored 6 power play goals in the game. It was a really good game to watch.

|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 10/28/2005 3:59:08 PM | | After giving up the 4 goals, Caron looked pretty good the rest of the game. The team defense needs to improve. I think as the chemistry improves, so too will the defense. | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 10/28/2005 4:01:54 PM | yup, i was pretty stunned by that comeback....i was watching the canucks/avalanche game at a packed bar in vancouver and when the score updates came in, everyone cheered for the penguins...it was surreal | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 10/28/2005 4:08:54 PM | When you have Mario and now Sidney, anything is possible. No lead is safe.
Gonchar looked a lot better, too. LeClair even got two goals. They've needed someone to stand in front of the net, like LeClair does, and get the rebounds.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 10/28/2005 4:16:38 PM | so true...i think that things had reached a boiling point the other day when they had to restrain mario from going after the ref....i don't think i've seen him that frustrated in years...felt sorry for him
by the way, one of my friends works for a canadian airline, so he can fly for next to nothing to any destination...anyhow, being a huge hockey fan, he was naturally interested in seeing crosby play with mario and since the new schedules are designed such that we don't see the penguins play in town this year, he actually bought tickets online for a game in buffalo, ny, and flew down there to watch the game
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 10/28/2005 4:45:00 PM | Yeh, I thought Mario was going to blow a gasket.
I actually haven't gone to any games in a while. It's a shame cause they are not that far away from me: 45 mins. I always watch them on t.v. I'm going to have to go see Mario & Sidney play together. They need to keep those two playing on the same line and on the same power play unit.

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 10/28/2005 4:49:18 PM | | ^^^ funny how we do that, eh? i mean, i grew up in the city that had the oiler dynasty of the '80s and i only went to a handful of games....and then there are people like my friend who travelled around 5,000 -6,000 km at his own expense to see crosby play - and the penguins aren't even HIS team. life is funny sometimes | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 10/28/2005 5:00:44 PM | ^^^I don't live as close as you did but it still isn't real far away. I actually went to Pirate games this summer and they were awful this year, so the Penguins are definitely worth going to see.
I bet if you had it to do all over again, you would have gone to more games in the 80s in Edmonton. When you have a real good team like that, you don't always appreciate it, til it's gone.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 10/28/2005 5:08:31 PM | ^^^ isn't it that way with everything in life...
yup, if i could do it all over again, i would have gone to almost every game...dang!

He was here the end of Aug.. and he dropped the puck in an exhibition game they introduced him when he walked on the ice and he had a standing ovation here for a good five minutes. He is really loved here.
As for Crosby I saw him on the ice skating with a parachute on at 7am.. He was there with his Dad. I saw him play novice and atom. lol People were watching him and doing write ups about him way back then.

I hope so too. I know it's early but Thibault sure doesn't seem like the answer. I have more faith in Caron right now. It doesn't really matter, though, who it is, if the defense doesn't play better. I think they turned the corner, thursday night. They're going to be better from here on in.

PENSFAN.. Pittsburgh should be able to generate some serious offense and beat any goalie in the league anytime they feel like it. lol They lost a great deal of one goal games I will admit in OT. but they shold eb able to blow anyone out of the water. Here is hoping they generate that in Pittsburgh to keep the fans in the seats and happy.
jUST THINK. Next year you have that Malkin kid.. or whatever his name is.. He was not able to come over and play this year because of a contract or something.

You're right about the offense, but they didn't beat Brodeur very well in the two games against the Devils. Thibault played poorly in those two games, also. That didn't help any.
I think if they keep Lemieux and Crosby on the same line, they'll score a lot of goals. They will start blowing teams out of the water. It doesn't matter how many the other team scores, if you score more.
I wish they had Evgeni Malkin (not sure about spelling) this year. I think he would have helped out a lot. He's supposed to be pretty good. I'm not sure what they have to do to get him here next year.

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 10/28/2005 8:32:54 PM | Thibault is not the answer to any of it. He was horrid in Montreal. and Everywhere else he travelled.. lol Gosh he did so much for Chicago.. insert Eye roll here.
I wish they would keep Lemieux and Crosby together as well. That would be some great passing and play making. But the question becomes can Lemieux keep up with Crosby on a regular basis? I think that might be the underlying issue with putting them on the same line. The kid can fly.. lol No wonder though, you learn how to skate with a parachute on your back and see what happens. lol.
Crazy isn't it that in three years Pittsburgh got the number one pic with Fleury, then the #2 with that Malkin kid the next year and then Crosby.
