Jay Bouwmeester is now a Calgary Flame......Sutter does it again... But do ya think he's gonna remain there til the season starts? Questionable
BTW Fab, ya never came across as the type who'd be eyeing the fellas butts.
I just can`t wait till next year to how this team is going to look....We now have one of the best backends in hockey (hey, I gotta rib the Flames fans in the off-season)

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/1/2009 8:18:50 AM | | Sutter signing Bouwmeester is a great move! Tighten up on defense and bring in Brent to coach Defensive hockey, wow! I hope the Leafs get Cammilleri and a few others, it's going to be interesting! | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/1/2009 1:07:37 PM | Hossa to the Hawks....okay, no problem.
But 12 years @ 62.8 million???
Unbelievable.
And the Lightning get Ohlund for 7 years?
Thank you, Glen Sather for moving Scott Gomez. Now please get Heatley and resign Blair Betts and Derek Morris.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/1/2009 1:23:09 PM | Khabibulin signs with edmonton. HUGE improvement over Roli (Khabibulin was 4th in the league in GAA last year and 6th in SP), but he has proven to be a flop right after signing a new deal. Not the guy I wanted to see in Edmonton, but it is a marked improvement. Maybe now that the Oilers have a goaltender, some other players will be more receptive to coming to Oil-town.
Gotta agree that giving Hossa, at 30 years old, a 12 year deal seems ridiculous... but talk about following Ken Holland's lead. Wow.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/1/2009 3:37:04 PM | | How about those LEAFS! Wow Komisarick, and getting rid of Kubina, HUGE! The Leafs need some top flight forwards and look out! Hossa is way overpaid for what he does. 12 years, that is crazy. Heatly is a bum, he should go to Edmonton at least, and honour what was done. Now the Leafs get rid of Kaberle and get Kessel, that would be awesome! | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/1/2009 4:42:09 PM | | Why would the Hawks give Hossa a 12 year contract? Sounds like that ridiculous contract the Texas Rangers gave to A Rod a few years ago. Hossa is a good player but 12 years? | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/1/2009 7:14:49 PM | Let's go Rangers!! Mar-ian Gab-orik!!
Okay, now I feel better. A healthy Gaborik will but 40 biscuits in the basket...but, the key is the health.
And why oh why Donald Brashear...the butcher of Blair Betts??
Sather and his half-witted moves...he still had better get Heatley.
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/1/2009 9:29:10 PM | Once the details of the deal are done, you'll see that it is hugely front loaded. I'm guessing hossa is getting 7-8M per year for the first 5, then it declines from there. Yes, the hit to the cap is the average of all 12 years, but I guess Tallon figures 12 years at 5.23M per seas0n against the cap is better than 5 years at 8M against the cap. Plus, this, in essence, keeps more cap money available to Toews and Kane. Can't imagine Hossa playing until he is 42 but if he retires earlier than that, the cap hit goes away. | |

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/2/2009 3:38:16 PM | | i wonder if the habs have left enough room for a small skilled forward. | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/2/2009 4:22:32 PM | | Ha ha ha... I think they have all of them already don't they? | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/2/2009 7:29:21 PM | | apparently you can never have to many.i tell you, dean mcammond and todd marchant are still out there.if i were say phoenix or florida i would roll the dice on the cheap for that combo .those guys are awesome in the room and still have a solid game for the fourth line.you could roll four with those guys on your team. | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/5/2009 7:35:27 PM | I can't believe that the Canadiens actually traded for Gomez. He's sooooo not worth $7 million.
And the Dany Heatley saga continues!
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/5/2009 7:38:38 PM | | Jackets resigned Rick Nash. Guy will be making some major bucks. I sure hope they have some cap room left to get him some help. | |

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/5/2009 9:46:18 PM | | Well, they still have about 14M to spend thi syear, but it is amazng what he has been able to do to this point in his career with virtually no help. Imagine how he would look with a centre other than RJ Umberger. | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/6/2009 2:01:17 PM | | Well the Jackets were really high on Broussard before he had a season ending injury. Matter of fact Hitchcock believes he could of been a 20 Goal guy. | |

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/6/2009 7:15:15 PM | | brassard is all that and more.kind of reminds me of craig janney.personaly i think the jackets need to add another d- man more than anything.morris or mara out of the ranger camp would work. | |

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/6/2009 7:17:53 PM | | Jackets need a guy to put the puck in on the power play. 12% in today's NHL is pathetic considering 20% conversion rate is the norm. I think a guy like Havlat would have been a great pickup if Minnesota didn't pounce on him. | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/7/2009 2:40:49 PM | | Leafs signed Jonas Gustavsson. | |

|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/7/2009 7:13:52 PM | | Doubt the league will do anything though. | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/7/2009 7:40:56 PM | Wow that was a surprise to see the Sens sign Kovalev.
Now I am a huge Habs fan and realize that Kovy is a superstar.... on some days. But $10 mil for two years...
However if Heatly stays and they have Kovy with Spezza, Heatly and Alfie. Another division rival getting better while the Habs toy with Gomez and Gionta...
**Sigh** | |
