| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/7/2009 7:41:35 PM | Wow that was a surprise to see the Sens sign Kovalev.
Now I am a huge Habs fan and realize that Kovy is a superstar.... on some days. But $10 mil for two years...
However if Heatly stays and they have Kovy with Spezza, Heatly and Alfie. Another division rival getting better while the Habs toy with Gomez and Gionta...
**Sigh** | |

BTW, Adam Foote's place is for sale if you be so inclined. 6 Br, 6Ba 8900 sq ft. It can be yours for 2.6M.

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/8/2009 10:47:42 AM | | A future hall of famer, a great player, and even a better person is going to call it quits. Joe Sakic, or as us Avs fans like to call him "super joe". I saw him in downtown Denver one time waiting in line to go to a resturant with his family. They asked him if he wanted to go to the front, he said "no, why would I"....very humble guy. He gave a lot back to the city of Denver...he will be missed... | |

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/8/2009 1:30:07 PM | I dont get it. Seems like this thread has developed a terrible stutter. (identical double posts galore) OT: I was never a huge fan of Sakic except in events where he was one of the good guys. (international tournaments, all-star games sometimes, etc.) He was formidable opposition even on a slow night for him. Tough for anyone to deny that he was an awesome talent in the game regardless of their loyalties. Sad to see him hang up the skates. Obvious future hall of famer, yup. | |

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/9/2009 12:56:07 AM | First ballot HOFer, if you ask me. That's the definition of a "hockey man" to me. Joe Sakic is truly one of the few wonders in the game. Not to many injured seasons until these past four. Not surprising that he calls it quits here, but surprised he was unable to lead the Avs (former Nordiques) to another cup.
Godspeed into retirement, Super Joe.
Not surprised that Saku Koivu went to join his Finnish teammate in Anaheim for the Ducks.

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/10/2009 7:22:18 AM | Has there been no comment on the Pronger trade and his new contract? Or have I just missed it among these pages?
Thoughts? opinions? | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/10/2009 10:07:18 AM | I'm just disappointed that we will only get to "salute" him once every couple of years in Edmonton now | |

| Hockey anyone? |
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/11/2009 9:34:37 PM | I am sooooooooo happy Gomez is gone.... His huge contract seemed all but impossible to unload.... Gainey took it.... LOL.... Thank you.... And getting Chris Higgins and the Habs #1 prospect wasn't bad either....
Most impressed with the rangers signing Gaborik.... At least now he can't score 5 goals in one game on Lundqvist.... LOL....I just hope he can stay healthy.... Also the signing of Kotalik wasn't bad either.... As usual, Sather did overpay.... But whatever...
Go Rangers!!!! | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/13/2009 5:14:39 AM | | The Rangers are in real trouble. They only have 7 forwards and 4 defencemen signed for next year. By my calculations, they will need to sign another 8 forwards and at least another 3 defencemen.... all with $11M. That's a whole lot of signings to do, without a lot of money. | |

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/14/2009 12:39:47 AM | | come on people. don't you know that hockey is like the total communist sport? what is this? the cccp days of the Regan era. come on dude. let watch real sports like football(north american), baseball and basketball please. oh, and no rugby either. | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/14/2009 4:57:25 AM | Baseball is a real sport? Oh yeah... because evry athlete should look like Prince Fielder | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/14/2009 8:47:26 AM | Hey!!! C'mon rBg. They're playing catch like good little kiddies and making all them funny faces on the mound. (need nodding and head shaking emoticons ) I mean, that's only 3/4 of the games and there're USUALLY a few minutes of action every game. REAL sports (pro sports) allow tons of time to consume copious amounts of liquor and good old healthy hot-dogs at ridiculous prices without missing anything, don't ya know? | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/14/2009 9:23:24 AM | Not to mention that they actually had to implement policies banning a) smoking cigarettes in the dugouts and b) chewing tobacco while playing.
Yep. Real athletes
But anyway... enough troll feeding for one day ha ha

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/14/2009 9:38:12 AM | Hey stop with the baseball bashing already. RBG even your hero Gretzky played baseball I know this because I played against him when we were kids. Back in the day in Ontario we played road hockey from September 1st till Easter and then the ball gloves came out. Baseball is a great sport with a unique set of skills required. Don't forget many a hockey player smoked on the bench during games including Hall of Famer Guy LaFleur. Now NASCAR and Rodeo those we can debate! | |
|
| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/14/2009 10:38:43 AM | | I hope ratherb is joking saying baseball is not a real sport, obviously has never played, might even have that twang in his arm if he was to throw a ball. | |

| Hockey anyone? Posted: 7/14/2009 11:10:53 AM | It's dubious at best to label any tobacco user as un-athletic. Drug use or the lack thereof is incidental at best in determining what sports are more althetic than the next. Severe acute or chronic usage can affect athleticism for certain, but it's inaccurate to say "If you smoke/drink, then you aren't an athlete."
Bryan Fogarty was a promising hockey player...who drank his way out of the league, but it doesn't mean he wasn't an athlete.
