So Cormier gets suspended for the rest of the season and the playoffs but could theoretically jump leagues and play in any league not sanctioned by Hockey Canada like the AHL. And he has the backing of a team that specialized in headshots, the NJ Devils. Hmmm...what a joke.

I've been a fan since I was a teen...Dad took me to a playoff game in the lower deck of the original Aud in Buffalo, N.Y....
The game went to overtime, and I happened to be sitting on the _Direct_ line of the winning goal....
Boy!! . . Were the people coming back ...just a little late from getting their last beer.. Pissed!!.... when the O/T lasted only _8_ seconds...!!!

^^^^lol, seriously. What are they at, 12 game losing streak now?? It's a shame, Penner and Hemsky were tearing it up together. Anyway, you guys got some great youth in Eberle and Magnus Svenson (?) coming next year.

I just hope the Habbies get their shit together, leave the drama behind and go on a nice tear.

How do you fix a 9 game losing streak ? You play the Oilers!

But seriously I was not impressed one bit. I hope the Flames wake up before its too late because with the way they have been playing (lack of scoring) they wont make the playoffs!

Looks to me like the Oilers have totally given up on this season!

the Oilers have sucked this year, but they are undefeated in February. Is it any wonder that the worst 3 teams in the league are the Leafs, Oilers and Hurricanes and the Oilers and 'Canes have ex Leaf coaches? After the blockbuster deals the Leafs do look better, but I think it will be a few years before the Stanley Cup parade is in Toronto.

Canes made it to the final 4 last year with that ex Leaf coach. Their goalie and top player were out for a lot of this seasson. Oilers were bad before Quinn came around.
Okus... hasn't damn near EVERY NHL coach been behind the Leafs bench at one time or another? (JK)

I'm not an anti-Leaf fan if anything I like them, I was reading the Steve Simmon's column in the Toronto Sun and he pointed that out. The Toronto media seem to like to put a negative spin on everything, right now it's easy to do, but even when they're winning the media seem to say the Leafs didn't play well the other team beat themselves etc.
Calgary looked better yesterday, but I think Vancouver is the only Canadian team that has a chance to win the Cup this year.

The Sens may be peeking too soon but wow, has Clouston got them playing well. 52-32-8 in the 92 games since he took over the club.
If they can keep it up they have as good a chance as anyone.

I'm reserving judgement on Vancouver until they finish this road trip. Their sket to this point in the season has been among the easiest in the league. They are paying for that now.

I hope the Olympic hockey games aren't ruined by Commercials....again...!!
In '06, there were at least 5 goals in the first 2 games that were scored during commercial breaks...!!!
Olympic officials don't recognize 'commercial breaks'...
The puck is dropped 15 seconds from the last whistle...Period..!!

15 seconds does not even give teams time for a line change... never mind a linesman skating the length of the ice to pick up an iced puck, returning it to the other linesman at the face-off dot then getting back into position at the blue line. gotta be 30 seconds at least.

I hate to say it (both because I'm afraid to jinx it, and because we get burned every year), but the Canucks look good this year.

They have Luongo in goal, with a backup who is getting people saying we could afford to lose Luongo; the reigning Hart trophy winner and his twin brother; scoring which finished second in the league last year; a defence which is the envy of most other teams (a defenceman went from top 2 pairing in Tampa last season to be the number 6 man in Vancouver). Vancouver is also a little grittier and tougher than last year.

Chicago (we hates them), isn't as good this year and they won't have Dustin Byuflin to push us around this time.

It looks good here. At least on paper.

In the East, Phili is looking very strong again. Some teams who missed the big show may make it this year such as Tampa Bay and Toronto. New Jersey and Buffalo have sucked so far. This early I would predict: Phili vs. Vancouver.
