I'm from the Cape, and not many can detect my accent.. lol except that I'm from the east. But I know folks in Wood Islands, just outside Port Aux Basques, and damn if I cannot make that man out half the time he speaks.. I just nod and smile.. If idn the people in the St. Johns area are much easier to make out.

| Accents A Plus+ Posted: 10/10/2005 5:39:14 AM | I love it when I hear M'dear come out of a Newfie's mouth..
half the time if you speak to a Newfie who has never been off the rock you would swear your talking to a Irish person..
and I love this one...'stay where ya to and i'll come where you're at!'

| Accents A Plus+ Posted: 10/23/2005 5:54:06 PM | | Absolutely, accents are a major plus, provided they are actual accents and not some strange twist of English within their own language (if the primary language is, in fact, not English). Bottom line - we need to be able to converse easily and at all depths within the English language. But, an accent is adorable, particularily British and Australian, among other favorites. | |

| Accents A Plus+ Posted: 10/23/2005 6:41:00 PM | Here I am with my NBC standard accent, blah. I like just about any accent. I'll always have a special place in my heart for women speaking Italian with a Florentine accent. | |
|
| Accents A Plus+ Posted: 10/24/2005 1:18:10 AM | Swedish Accents clearly the best.
But yes with drinking does anyone make it a game to try and get people to think you are from other places of the world (i do... but then again i'm strange)
I normally go with Australian, American, Irish, and Swedish. You'd be surprised when americans come down under, they go straight for the aussie guys (if you have an american accent you have no chance)
(at this one all swedish house party i just talked like the chief from the muppets... it worked mostly because everyone was pretty drunk/loud)
edit: (moving over the world sure does help your accent... i have a extremely neutral accent and can well mimic the australian, american, irish accents ever so well)
