| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/11/2005 12:40:22 AM | Profiles with "prefer not to say" all the way through. Profiles with no picture or with pictures of just a dog/cat/car/cartoon etc. Profiles with close up's of their cleavage or dressed in their undies. Profiles with bad spelling and grammer or that are written in "text". Profiles that say nothing at all. | |

| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/11/2005 7:07:43 AM | | Sorry lass, Ive been drinking and smoking most of my life...tried pot once many years ago...did nothing for me! Never even felt inclined to touch drugs since! | |

| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/11/2005 8:22:44 AM | I think the point girly19 is trying to make is that nicotine and alcohol *are* drugs. Supposedly, nicotine is harder to get off than heroin. Add to this the fact that alcohol is one of the more toxic drugs available. This is mainly down to its being a very weak drug. The constant repetition of the phrase 'Drugs and Alcohol' in the media may have warped our perception of this fact. Maybe pot should not be demonised the way it is. After all, the medical benefits are astounding to those with MS, for example. Isn't it time it was legalised? | |

| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/11/2005 8:41:50 AM | prefer not to say in profile and then says they are looking for honesty!
that stupid green banana thingy over and over again!
pictures of cleavage or underwear shots.
saying looking for friends and chat only, then not replying.

| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/12/2005 10:37:52 AM | Pictures of men wearing underwear but no face shown - how should that be interpreted?
Being constantly asked to show more pictures - i'm not prepared to share my photoalbums with those i hardly know
People sending the same messages all over again, not remembering what the response was

| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/12/2005 3:53:56 PM | Pretty much agree with all on here but the arguments would carry more weight when those that complain about spelling and grammar don't make those very mistakes in their posts! | |

| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/13/2005 7:40:12 AM | Quite honestly, I get very turned off by misplaced or lacking apostrophes, especially from adult, native English-speakers, as in "peoples favourites"...!
Nice photo though. I occasionally visit London...

| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/13/2005 7:45:06 AM | Dear Dori,
Did you mean "That's true, Pearlie."? (perlie? pearl? old chestnut???)
Illiteracy has many manifestations and is indeed a turn-off, especially from fellow native English-speakers such as the guy who sent in the thread!

| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/13/2005 7:50:12 AM | I get turned off by people who can't construct proper sentences. Missing apostrophes too, as in "peoples" and "ones".
But foreigners are excused.
|
| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/13/2005 7:53:54 AM | In Ireland do they say "worse" for "worst"? I like full stops anda minimum literacy level, especially from fellow English-speakers.
But I agree about the age issue. I never lie but most men do.
|
| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/13/2005 8:54:35 AM | | Erm...obvious lies about age. Lack of face pic. Profiles that are too negative i.e...Lots of writing about who they don't want replying without much about who they do. Bitter rants against men in profiles also get alarm bells ringing! | |
|
| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/13/2005 8:58:36 AM | i hate these things in a profile....
lies about age...just be honest underwear shots...save for the bedroom naked body pics...same as above pics of cars/house/animals etc etc...im not talking to them i wanna talk to you
|
| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/13/2005 9:10:06 AM | | This aint so much of a turn off but a case of confusion. You look at a profile, shows a picture of a nice slim blonde/brunnette etc then where it says body shape they say 'prefer not to say'. DERRR HELLO..... or maybe you accidently down loaded the wrong pic and dont know how to delete it. | |
|
| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/13/2005 9:16:06 AM | Spelling and grammar is not problem for me...Outside of work my spelling and grammar takes a nosedive anyway. What I do not like, however, is people in their late twenties onwards...using text speak in their profiles.
Also when profiles have only one short sentence it can be annoying.

| Things in profiles that are a turn off? Posted: 10/13/2005 9:42:38 AM | | So, out of the 538 people that have viewed this thread so far, only 4 have managed to spot the deliberate mistake - Says a lot that does. | |
