I used to manage Kaffa (LOVE the place!) and I remember anticipating our regulars's drinks. I still see some of them once in a while, and I remember that they prefer, even if they don't remember me (I used to get a lot of, "Hey, don't I know you?" looks after I left, because I look so different working than I do out & about. Believe me, it was lots of fun confusing people... I know, I'm bad).
How you take your coffee DOES say a lot about you, I think. The 1/2 soy, 1/2 skim, double shot espresso with 1/2 a shot of caramel and 1/2 shot of vanilla customers (yes, there were two!) always seemed the artistic verging on crazy type (my kind of people, and I loved them as customers). The skim, double decaf espresso with sugar-free vanilla syrup people seemed a bit... er... well yeah. I think we actually called this drink the 'Why Bother?'
My personal favorites were those customers who ordered the Death by Chocolate: half coffee, half chocolate milk, one shot of chocolate syrup, chocolate whip cream and chocolate sprinkles. Okay, it's a bit of overkill, but it was called Death by Chocolate for a reason! The second fav? A Rolo: two shots of espresso, one shot of caramel syrup, chocolate milk and chocolate whip. Ya know, they just want the coffee so bad, so they get the decaf espresso so they at least get the taste. It's like the same thing with non-alcoholic beer. Blech.
Some of those frou frou girly specialty drinks can be quite deadly too. Deadly in that some of them can add up to 600-700 calories each...holy crikey! Having a Big Mac and Coke would be about par with that.
Thankfully I'm not a "caffeine addict", but once in a blue moon I'll have a double shot espresso and peppermint for a JJJJJOOOOLLLLTTTT!!!!!
Otherwise the best coffee is the "hungover at your local cafe/diner" coffee! LOL | |
