| Headache remedies Posted: 10/18/2005 1:45:48 AM | I have been suffering from migraines since I was 13. I had them bad, to where I had at least one a week. I have tried it all, from ice packs and herbal packs, to otc medicine and the big ones, like Imitrex.
These two past years, I have found the "cure"
This might sound crazy but...Hematite magnetic necklace.
I have had only 2 weak migraines in the past two years. No drugs, no waiting, no ice packs or suffering through the day.
This necklace has been a life saver, and I dont have to be inturrupted with a migraine.
Might want to try that, they aren't ugly or non fashionable either, there are even some with gems and pearls on them...
Hope this helps, Kelly | |

| Headache remedies Posted: 10/18/2005 7:23:53 AM | How ironic that I was on this thread yesterday and last night I felt a migraine coming on. The zomig helped a bit and when I woke up this morning, it was still there waiting to hit me. some of your tips helped too. Particularly the midol. I took the Zomig, and when I was still rolling around praying for it to go away at 2am, I popped THREE midols.
I fell asleep within 30 minutes - but it came back by 6am.
I was even late for work because of it, but at least I was able to sleep somewhat. The midol definitely staved a lot of it off. Oh, and my magic bag from the freezer came in handy too. I fell asleep with it on my head.

| Headache remedies Posted: 10/18/2005 8:12:05 AM | | I don't suffer from migraines and usually have one or two small headaches a year... or less so I can't trade tricks on that. However, I see people talking about natural remedies and such and just thought I'd warn people to be careful with "natural" remedies or omeopathic remedies as they can be as harmful or worse than drugrs you buy in a pharmacy. Because it's natural doesn't mean you can take it, mix it or abuse it. Many "chemical" remedies are often based on natural plants, herbs and such. Some medication, be it natural or not may interact in strange ways so caution is of the essence, specially if you are taking ongoing medication for another health problem. It is best to ask your doctor before taking any medication or medicinal herbs and such. | |

willow bark tea is a natural remedy for garden variety headaches.
The molecular breakdown of willow bark was the basis for our modern day aspirin. The warmth of the tea probably yields some additional benefits.

Waking up with a migrane is horrible. Glad the midol helped you get a good nights sleep, if you wake up with one, take 2 midol and carry and extra one with you to work. It truly has been my life saver, nothing works better in my opinion.
As for natural remedies, they are wonderful, however, most are only good in small doses because large doses can be harmful to your body. Before taking any natural medicines please read up on and head all warnings and suggestions.

| Headache remedies Posted: 7/15/2006 8:59:12 AM | For those who get sinus headaches due to hay fever, allergies, or frequent sinusitis...
Sudafed Non-Drying Sinus - Way better than the regular stuff. Doesn't give you that dry sinus ache behind your eyes.
Naproxen/Aleve - Does wonders on soft tissue swelling.
Coltsfoot Tea - Drink slowly and inhale as much of the vapors as possible. A natural expectorant that breaks up congestion in both the sinuses and lungs. Tastes awful, but pallatable with honey or mixed with Blackberry Tea.
