Pride would dominate UFC hands down.

UFC sucks and is all marketing and building fights.

Pride fighters get in the ring and go to work, not like UFC stand around and talk about it.

I like Pride better too, but what are you basing this on??? Head to head I think we only have the Liddell fights to compare, and he's 2-1 vs Pride, so...

what i don't like about the direction the UFC is heading now is that its all about the reality show, The Ultimate Fighter. Dana White seems to care more about promoting fighters from the show rather than getting the best fighters in the world to compete.

TUF 3 Finale on tonight.

Anderson Silva vs. Chris Leben. That should be a good one.

Sam Stout vs. Ken Florian

And off the show -

Kendall vs. Ed Herman

Bisping vs. Josh

Yeah I think he is trying to take advantage of the reality show success that other programs have had. The Idol series produces gold records for the winners. So if the public as a whole attach themselves to a fighter they may purchase the ppv's and attend the events the UFC promotes.

Does that mean he overlooks other good fighters in the process? Sure

Gimme a break man...You cannot compare a liddell KO compared to a Cro-Cop KO,

I'm basing it on entertainment

Unfortunately Dana White seems to be turning the UFC into a popularity fiasco ...kinda reminds me of WWE and what they did, getting "Hulk Hogan" to boost ratings long ago.

What has happened to the REAL fights? Damn ratings game.

Yes I must say it's getting pretty dam fake.
it's sad really I'm getting tired of watching Tito Ortiz run around like a Puppet
the phony acting is sad.

bring that punk ass **** over to pride and let him fight Cro Cop

Now that!! would be awesome I would love to see Cro Cop knock Tito's mouth piece
out into the 4 th row.

I know I'm likely in the minority, but I like Tito. I think he's genuine and seems to be deep down a good guy. He does lots of charity work and stuff with kids and you saw how he was as a trainer on UF. He does talk some smack, but I think guys like that can be good for the sport. As much as people supposedly hate the wrestling talk or whatever you want to call it, it sells PPV's, as was proven with Tito/Shamrock 1, and will be proven again next week-end I'm pretty sure. Same thing with Ali...why is he so famous now and remembered as the greatest, and why did his fights do so well at the box office? Yes he was real good, one of the best, but also because he sold himself well, he based a lot of his talk and hyping of fights on Georgous George the wrestler. As much as people might find it distasteful sometimes, it sells fights. If nothing else you are going to pay hoping to see the big mouth finally shut up. IMO Shamrock is way more of a big mouth then Ortiz. He started the confrontation with Tito during the show, and at the end. For a guy who hasn't really beaten any good opponents in over 5 years he sure has a lot to say. It's like he really thinks he's still the "badest man on the planet", and IMO he never was even close to that, not even in his prime. Really IMO that's all Shamrock has still, is a big mouth and his ability to sell his fights.

I still don't see how people can put down UFC as completely inferior to Pride. I like it better too, and to me it is more exciting, but to say their fighters are that much superior is simply not true(except at Heavyweight where it's pretty obvious that is the case). I'm still waiting to hear from the guy that said Liddell isn't even a top 5 Light Heavy...so who are the 5 ahead of him??? And btw, Tito has fought Pride's golden boy Wanderlei Silva, and beat him...lay and pray decision or not...the same thing could happen again, though I admit the smart money would be on Wanderlei in a rematch. I guess I just don't get all this UFC bashing...both organizations have some good fighters and most of the time put on quality events IMO.

it sells PPV's, as was proven with Tito/Shamrock 1,

This was the most boring fight of the century....I fell asleep half way through the match and when I woke up for the last round I though some one switched the channel to gay porn...all they did was wrestle and grunt.

Tito has fought Pride's golden boy Wanderlei Silva, and beat him

that was an old Silva ..Tito fought ..the new advanced Silva would rip Tito a new ***hole
inside of 3 rounds.

Silva has also grown as a fighter and fought better fighters while Tito has been combing his hair in front of the cameras.

I would like to see these two get it on again, get it signed let's rock it would be a good fight.

Tito/Shamrock 1 was a solid fight IMO...I'll take your word for it though that it resembled gay porn...having never seen that stuff I can't say for sure...lol. Tito's style is G&P though, so I guess that's why you would say that. I never said he's an exciting figther, but I'd rather watch him then some other lay and pray artists, like Matt Hughes and Ricardo Arono, who are even more boring and suck as human beings from what I can tell.

And regardless of wether you think Tito/Shamrock 1 was the "most boring fight of the century", it sold...at the time it was the most successful MMA PPV ever for it's time I do believe, and still one of the biggest drawing shows they've ever had in the UFC. The next one will be too cause people love grudge matches...having Sylvia/Arlovski share the bill helps, but rest assure Tito/Shamrock is really what will make or break this PPV, cause casual MMA fans can't wait to see them fight again...they still think Shamrock is a good fighter! lol

As far as Tito vs Silva, I agree Silva would likely take it, but if Tito can get him down the same thing would happen as did last time. Could go either way, but if Tito can't get him down he'd be toast shortly of course. So long as Silva wasn't too agressive and waited for Tito to try to shoot in on him, as opposed to chasing him making it easier for Tito to take him down, he would win by KO against Tito.

Well Slva has Ko'd rampage several times...I bring this up for a reason.
Rampage has given Silva ALL he could handle up to the point of the KO's.
Tito and rampage have similar styles only I think Tito has better grappling so IMO Tito would give Silva a very very good fight with a reasonable chance to beat him.

But the axe murderer is a beast so it wouldnt surprise me at all if he won a fight v Tito via KO.

..I would love to see Tito leaving the ring in a stretcher

Silva is a much wiser fighter now...I don't think He would let Tito take it to the ground.

If they were to fight tomorrow it would be Silva by knock out for sure.

The next Pride card looks pretty dam good.

UFC ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

phew..I had to get that outta my system....and now i have to comment on some of the posts in here.....in no random order and to no one in particular...

The UFC reality series is above all the best damn reality show on TV right now.!! For real. And whoever said it was like Big Brother expect they have to fight to stay on, gimme a break..lol...I mean if you gotta watch reality tv it may as well be a bunch of sweaty men beating each others brains out...now THAT'S reality tv!!!!

and for all you tito bashers....phooey on you...tito rocks through and through...he's a solid awesome fighter and he proved to be an amazing and dedicated coach on TUF...i think shamrock should hang up his shorts...he proved to be an immature whiney sore loser on the show.....

and i personally don't think dana is making a fiasco out of anything and i REALLY don't believe that ufc will be another wwe...never happen.....i think dana knows exactly what he's doing....

ok so now that i got that outta my system i'm happy....!!...and can't wait to see tito smash ken's face in next weekend....maybe that'll send him packing for good....

UFC RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally...
i prefer Pride to UFC... but its close.
As mentioned... the rules and arenas differ, each with pluses and minuses. I like the cage over the ring (Adds more of a 'pitfight' mentalitry and the idea of two combatants 'caged' in) but the allowable kicks in Pride are key, esp. for a fan like myself. I do prefer the UFCs rules about elbows, and how they stole from Pride and now have rules about the 'lay n prey' tactics. Also..Pride does offer more spice insomuch that theres alot of tournament fights and open class fights. Pride also showcases more world-wide talent, especially from Japan. And..like said, Prides weight classes, especially the heavyweight class, has a greater array of top notch fighters. Funny though, how a few fighters have been in both MMA forums, but no one has really been the master of BOTH. Liddel... is over rated. Pride showed that. Wanderlei is a good fighter, but like others mentioned, like Tito, he has flaws. Its truly hard to speculate who can beat who, since some fighters seem to do well with some rules and in some arenas, while others dont. Personallty Im kinda tired of wondering who the BADDEST is (and it sure aint Shamrock!) since no one seems consistent enough to dominate BOTH. Im sure a few, like Cro-cop, Hughes, or a rare few others..can be consistent enougfh to be both UFC AND Pride champs (something Id like to see someone do) but I dont forsee that anytime soon. I do not see anyone dominant enough to win under any rules, arenas or fight rules and conditions. Personally AGAIN... I wont be happy til I see someone hold a credited jujitsu title, a K1 title, and BOTH the UFC and Pride titles. Like boxing with the WBC/WBA/IBF.. a triple-crown of MMA if you will. I see NO ONE good enough for that.

On another note... anyone watch KOTC or K1?? Some good fights there... I was amazed to watch gary gooderidge eliminate two guys in under a total time of 60 seconds, to only get knocked the **** out in the finals! It was a sweet fight... and I still give gooderidge credit, for hes one of the few I see fighting in a variety of fighting forums. I miss the day of the UFC where wed see fighters fight more than once an event.
And... Whites Ultimate fighter has continued to showcase MMA, even if we all dont necessarily like the show itself. I dont see it making the UFC a WWE circus, for it hasnt totally taken away from the UFCs PPV events, which only bring in a few ultimate fighters at a time to the full MMA showcase...some of which have been worthwhile prospects for White. Also... the reality-show end is totally condusive to todays western ptreferences, which will piss almost any real MMA fan off. I have a better reality show idea....
At least UFC is lookin to expand, and show all what hard work goes into becoming a MMA practitioner!

well sammy lost to florian on saturday night, but both mark and rob won their fights lastnight.

personally I agree, I would love to see UFC and Pride fighters compete, however this will not happen anytime soon, when chuck went over to the pride GP there was a deal broken, pride was supposed to send a fighter over to the UFC and they didnt. With the popularity from the reality show dana white has been controling alot of careers, you either fight for the UFC or you dont, he can be a real prick to be honest. If a UFC fighter takes a fight in another event they are not coming back.

He is growing the sport but he is selling "ultimate fighting" as a product, he is not selling the fighters but rather his company.

In fact he has threatened MFS due to pats IFL affiliation, He has taken the IFL to court and he has tradmarked "ultimate fighting" as almost to make it out to be something different than MMA.

He is making the sport grow in north america at a rapid rate (only due to spike TV) but at what cost? He is not looking inot the best interests of the fighters. Without the fighters the UFC is nothing.

He is trying to eliminate any competition in north america. The more events held will only help the sport grow as a whole, but dana white is doing his best to stop that...he wants the UFC to grow, not the sport

if the egos at the top of these companies would look at the growth of MMA instead of their product you could see some truly great matchups.

look at boxing...think holyfield-tyson, de la hoya-trinidad, hearns/hagler, ali/foreman...no matter how far you go back you had some great HIGHLY anticipated fights, When you promote the fighters and not just the event you get the hype. Sure there is some anticipated fights within these organizations but imagine liddel/silva type fight...it would definatly be something people want to see.

pride must be a digital or satellite station show cause i don't get it with my regular cable so unfortunately i miss out on a lot of really cool shows...like pride....and the only reason i happen to get spike tv is because i had to order the whole damn package from the cable company....lol...oooooooook i'm done whining about cable...but some of the names you guys are dropping here are foreign to me....pride fighters....*shrugs*...
