| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 7/8/2006 4:12:06 PM | yeah hermes is gonna rock joe
sorry hermes is great, always loved that guy especially when he destroyed manny in that internet challenge.....manny who is highly decorated in karate (comps and sparring) also said he was undefeated in MMA (and he was, he just had fought cans)...challenged everyone to get in the UFC, was the best in the USA for karate and all that...well he stepped up...which I thought he was a troll, but hermes almost crippled him, I wish I still had that vid, it was like only 30 seconds long but a beat down.

| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 7/8/2006 11:20:50 PM | Here's the results of tonights fights for UFC 61:
Match Winner Loser Method Round Time 1 Drew Fickett Kurt Pellegrino Submission (Rear Naked Choke) 3 1:20 2 Cheick Kongo Gilbert Aldana TKO (Doctor Stoppage) 1 4:13 3 Jeff Monson Anthony Perosh TKO (Strikes) 1 2:22 4 Hermes Franca Joe Jordan Submission (Triangle Choke) 3 0:47 5 Joe Stevenson Yves Edwards TKO (Doctor Stoppage) 2 5:00 6 Frank Mir Dan Christison Decision (Unanimous) 3 5:00 7 Tito Ortiz Ken Shamrock TKO (Strikes) 1 1:18 8 Josh Burkman Josh Neer Decision (Unanimous) 3 5:00 9 Tim Sylvia Andrei Arlovski Decision (Unanimous) 5 5:00
Well not that great a card, though it was nice to see Kenny get beat down quick like I figured he would. Then of course he whines about a quick stoppage. He wasn't intelligently defending himself, and Tito was hammering him. Could he have taken a couple more elbows...probably, but it wasn't necessary. Tito had established his dominance and just would have kept hammering Ken, cause Ken was doing nothing to improve his position. So now they will probably fight again. Same thing will happen again. Sad the crowd still gives Tito no respect. Not his fault the ref stepping in. IMO the stoppage was fine, I had no problem with it at all. Arlovski/Sylvia 3 was a big dissapointment. I personally thought Arlovski won rounds 2, 3, and 4, and should have gotten the decision. The fight overall sucked though. Thought someone was going down. Oh well...more proof the UFC heavyweights suck more often then not. Sure Pride has some big fights go the distance...but Nog/Herring 1, Nog/Fedor 1 and 2(or 3 I guess), and Fedor/Cro Cop were all good fights IMO. My God that was a lot of blood in Edwards/Stevenson. Most I've ever seen in an MMA fight maybe. It looked like a f'n murder had occured. If not for the cut IMO Edwards would have taken the fight.
The HUGE news coming out of this is that Pride 205 champion Wanderlei Silva has signed to fight Chuck Liddell. He came out from the audience after Dana White announced the fight. This was the first time I have heard Silva speak english...he did well...except when he first said he wanted to "f*#k" Chuck Liddell, before he corrected himself and said fight. Very funny! Anyway, this is AWESOME news. I assume it will be a 5 round title fight...assuming Chuck beats Babalu. This is like the dream fight of dream fights for MMA, and I can't wait. I hope these guys don't take some luster off this fight by losing their next fights. Silva could have to fight 2 times on the next Pride card, so hopefully he'll still be good to go and won't lose bad if he does lose. Same with Chuck...he better not look past Babalu, cause he's much more dangerous then last time. Can't wait for this fight! It will be awesome...wish it were under Pride rules, but oh well. I'm sure Chuck wouldn't mind returning the favour seeing as he's already fought in Pride. And props to Dana White. People talk $hit about him, and sometimes he annoys me too, but he does his best to put on some damn good fights, and this is his most impressive accomplishment yet. Props to Pride president Sakibara too. Both these guys are taking a big chance here putting their champions in the ring with the potential for one of them to look really bad...Dana especially is taking a chance because Chuck is the man in UFC and known as the top fighter, especially to casual fans. Anyway, can't F'ing wait for this fight!!! This has been an awesome year for MMA IMO.

| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 7/8/2006 11:55:32 PM | | Silva/Liddell I hope it happens. Yeah, this card was a little ho-hum, but thats the nature of the thing I guess. UFC 62 sounds amazing though. Some of the rumoured fights are Swick/Loiseau, Florian/Sherk, two out of Terrel, Silva, and Marquat (spelled wrong, but I have no clue) fighting for #1 contender at 185. | |
|
| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 7/8/2006 11:59:48 PM | | Silva/Liddell WILL happen...it's already signed...why would they make a big deal of it and announce the fight if it wasn't already signed? Unless Chuck gets KO'd by Babalu(unlikely) and athletic commisions don't allow him to fght for a few months, I believe it is signed for October or November. | |
|
| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 7/9/2006 12:32:30 AM | Dana mentioned its conditional on him getting past Babalu. Thats all. Unless I heard wrong, which is possible.

tito really beat ken?????............ .......i sooooooooooo have to see that fight....according to all the posts the joe stevenson fight sounds like the best one of the nite...though i really do need to see ken losing that fight......i probably hate him as much as tito does.....

| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 7/10/2006 9:15:15 PM | This was the worst UFC event since 55 and i really thought none would top that for shittiness.
I can't wait for Pride to come to the US and I really hope the Silva/Chuck fight happens...as much as I wanted Babalu to beat Liddell I am now looking for Chuck to thumb Renato into submition just so I can see the Axe Murderer beat the shit out of him LOL I have also heard Fujita is supposed to be fighting on that same card but no word yet on who his opponent might be, I'm thinking AA might be a good matchup for him or maybe we can see Ironhead beat up on Mir...that would be fun

|
| The art of Energy Manipulation Posted: 7/14/2006 5:33:04 PM | | Silva will win he's a beast. he's coming over here to prove something and he's going to knock liddell out | |
|
| |
| The art of Energy Manipulation Posted: 7/14/2006 9:41:29 PM | | Liddell wins - counter fighter to silvas straight ahead attack. If chuck stays mobile and circles he will beat silva . ButIf silva gets close he f**k up chuck | |
|
| The art of Energy Manipulation Posted: 7/15/2006 1:51:56 AM | Chuck always seems to have trouble with fighters who are aggresive, examples are Rampage, Overeem (till he gassed), Randy the first time, Belfort...and everyone knows Silva is very aggresive. That being said a couple thumbs to Silvas peepers will keep him at bay so Liddell does have a pokers chance | |

| The art of Energy Manipulation Posted: 7/15/2006 9:22:04 AM | | sumyouknow.......lol........lets just say that either guy can win, but obviously the crowd will be a pro Liddell crowd, but if Silva wins, I think it would start one of the better rivalries we've seen in a long time in the UFC possibly of all time...... | |
|

i don't....i think ortiz is a good fighter (but of course what do girls know, right?) and i think he proved himself to be not such a bad guy during the season of tuf 3....
