| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 10/4/2007 1:42:58 PM | | How many have ever stepped in the cage?Anyone can be beaten on any given day it doesn't diminish their skill level ..there are many factors to consider other than skill..weight issues, hydration, and emotional state are three just off the top of my head...the way fighters match up stylistically is one of the most often overlloked factors...Liddell will not fair well against any fighter with good stand up and a great chin...his punches are to looping ..against Rampage he just got caught happens to everyone sooner or later...he is still a bad ass...as far as Pride fighters transitioning into UFC the biggest difference is the cage itself...it is confining until you get used to it- there are no elbows from mount in Pride, no soccer kicks in UFC, that is what really hurt Cro Cop agains Gonzaga he ate a lot of elbows when Gonzaga had top control...he faired well against Congo though ..after a knock out it is hard to fight at 100% aggression because your psycology changes ..you are primarily concerned with not getting knocked out again ...someone mentioned Henderson and Rampage ..if they were to fight again Henderson would definitley win, his performance was not typical of his fights in Pride..he was to friendly with Rampage it showed when he went to touch gloves in the beginning ..his head wasn't in the right place... | |

| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 10/4/2007 3:11:22 PM | | I agree with pretty much everything but that last bit. Those Team Quest guys tend to come in smiling sometimes and then still fight well. I think the difference was Jackson's strength, and his wrestling is underrated. It was very similar to the way he matched up with Matt Lindland in the WFA. Dan fought well, in my opinion. He needs to move down to 185. If you want to see what it looks like when he doesn't fight well, watch the fight he lost to Misaki. | |

| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 10/4/2007 3:22:46 PM | | I agree he would I think he would be a force at 185 . It is extremely important to pick the right weight class for your build and strength..I dropped to 170 took the guy down mounted him and had nothing...ended up tapping due to strikes cause I had no cardio and strength at that weight ..I fought in July at 200 lbs and go a Knockout victory in 26 sec of the first round...My fight this weekend will be at 200 but after that I will be at 185... I don't think he fought poorly against Rampage I just think he didn't go all out like he did when he fought Wanderlai ... | |

| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 10/4/2007 3:36:38 PM | What's the promotion and where do you train, if you don't mind me asking? Also, check out SH5.org (yet another mma-oriented site) sometime, if you'd like (or anyone else, of course). I'm a moderator there. We've got a few fighters who post with us, including one who trains at MFS in Davenport.
POF mods: If posting the above info is a no-no, delete away, no hard feelings.
Good luck in your fight, etourdi!

| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 10/9/2007 4:24:26 PM | | ok you two have talk about some pretty good fighters and i would have to agree that the cage and the differance in allowed strikes is the biggest problem that pride fighters anre having. But you left out vandila sylva who while in pride walked through rampage like he was nothing twice. as far as belt holdes in the various weight classes i would agree that no one is standing out except maybe sean sherk in the light weight division. Now thats a little bull dog. | |

| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 10/10/2007 4:48:41 PM | | Wanderlei Silva ended those in impressive fashion, but they were competitive fights up to the end. In fact, Silva was pretty much saved by the bell once. And I'd say Anderson Silva has thus far been well above his MW opponents, though he'll have some competition if Henderson drops to 185. And I still think GSP may wind up dominating at 170. | |

| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 10/12/2007 2:24:02 AM | So Randy Couture has shocked everybody by handing in his belt and retiring from the UFC. I'm shocked. Turns out he was getting quite underpaid as compared to other big name fighters, was disrespected by the company, and he feels with Fedor going to another organization there is no competition for him at the HW division.

cage fighters Vs Wu Shu kids
=
Wu Shu kids beating the cafe fighters to death, I once trained by a kid of 12 years of age from China. He Grabed three spears, leaned on them and snaped them with his chest only. Bare Chest. It was pretty amazing shit, Training for Wu Shu is serious stuff so i have to go with Wu Shu then any other type or style of fighting

| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 10/12/2007 7:21:38 PM | | This one time, I saw a ninja uppercut some kid just for opening a window. They'd flip out and kill everyone in the UFC. Steve Jennum for life! | |

| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 12/24/2008 10:06:37 AM | Can someone please summarise for me how much of the 20 pages of this thread are associated with the thread title as opposed to being either a deadly underground fighter or breaking spears with chests?
To get back on track, and apologies if this has been covered before, what do people think about (for want of a better phrase) the rising stars of the UK - namely Michael Bisping, Dan Hardy and Paul Daley...there are others but that'll do for now.

| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 12/24/2008 9:33:43 PM | | Back to the OT, I've been watching since the atrocious "Superfight" between Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie. I'm honestly surprised I continued watching after that garbage, but thankfully, the sport has improved by leaps and bounds since those days. | |
|
| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 12/25/2008 1:57:39 AM | | Well okay it wasn't the most interesting match in the world but Shamrock took on Gracie at his own game and held him to a draw (if I remember correctly). Sakuraba vs Royce wasn't terribly exciting either but it marked the first time a Gracie was beaten using their own rules (15 minute rounds etc). | |

| UFC and Mix Martial Arts Posted: 12/27/2008 6:07:50 AM | saiyan 1,
True, but I laugh at some hardcore MMA fans who were pissed Lesnar is champion because he wrestled. Well, if they followed the sport for years, they would know 83 fighters at one time did pro wrestling, Krystof and Lawlor from this seasons ultimate fighter did pro wrestling. When Krystof was wrestling, he sort of looked like Goldberg, he was not a great worker and would just do short matches, destroying jobbers.
You have to remember, and you stated it well, depends on the rules of fighting, but I think nobody trains harder than MMA stars. A martialist? You must be someone like Jack Bauer from 24. Sweet!
