| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/9/2005 4:57:42 PM | Those are good points. However, those are thing that can be rebuilt using diplomacy. 100,000 plus dead americans due to a chemical attack. Which one of your points ranks this high, unless you have power of a God these souls would be gone for ever. You want to take that risk | |

100,000 plus dead americans due to a chemical attack.
No chemical weapons were in Iraq.
Risk?
Fact: Terrorist attacks from this region have been from Saudi nationals - not Iraqis Fact: Financing for terrorist attacks has come from Saudi Arabia Fact: Bin Ladin - Saudi Fact: Al Qaida spiritual guidence comes from the Wahabi sect, not Sunnis, Shiites, Baathists(secular). Fact: Wahabi = Saudis
Why doesn't the US invade Saudi Arabia?
Maybe because.....
Fact: SA derives its revinue from oil, the US is NOT a major purchaser. Fact: SA expenditures EXCEED oil revenues, the largest componant of which is... Fact: Weapons, the major vendor being US corporations Fact: US corporations are also the major recipient of the trillions of dollars being spent on Iraqi war/rebuilding
More than meets the eye, no? .....or is all this "unimportant"?

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/9/2005 5:18:55 PM | Late: It seems you maybe right those sleeper AL Qaded cells that were in Iraq prior to 911 or starting to be identified by Iraqi citizens. You must be a secret CIA agent. You and Bush both knew about these cells. What a Go Late
BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraqi citizens turned over a high-ranking Al Qaeda member known as "the Butcher" to U.S. forces in Ramadi Friday a military statement said.
Amir Khalaf Fanus was No. 3 on the 28th Infantry Division's High Value Individual list for Ramadi, wanted for murder and kidnapping in connection with his affiliation with Al Qaeda in Iraq.
"He is the highest ranking Al Qaeda in Iraq member to be turned into Iraqi and U.S. officials by local citizens," Capt. Jeffrey S. Pool said in a statement released from Camp Blue Diamond in Ramadi. "His capture is another indication that the local citizens tire of the insurgents' presence within their community."
According to Pool, Iraqi and U.S. Forces "have witnessed increasing signs of citizens fighting the terrorists within Ramadi as the Dec. 15 National Elections draw nearer."
He said that another 1,200 Iraqi Security Force soldiers were recently stationed in Ramadi, while 1,100 Iraqi special police commandos and a mechanized Iraqi army company had moved into the city.

Late: Back to that circular argument. I would not be willing as you are to gamble with human american lives as easily as you seem to. Since hind sight is 20/20
I am not going to trust any freakin UN repot or any other intellegence. This is a decision the president had to make and I for one believe he made the correct one. On the possibility of what could have happend no matter how remotely.\

That is just bizarre!! And totally reckless. Anybody who is prepared to attack others for the slightest chance of what MIGHT POSSIBLY happen is DEFINITELY "part of the problem" and, in fact, at least as bad as the terrorists they're purporting to be fighting. Talk about hypocritical!

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/9/2005 6:50:41 PM | Thank you Grog27 i am actually 'thinking' of bombing my neighbor i THINK he's thinking of stalking me are there government grants available to me?

I would not be willing as you are to gamble with human american lives as easily as you seem to.
I find it obscene when those who don't risk anything make a profit from destroying American and other lives.
On the possibility of what could have happend no matter how remotely.
Again, if the cause is flawed and the entitlement remains despite this, the precedent is terrifying.
I have a 7 year old daughter, it's her future and her planet's future that is being gambled, and some are "making a killing" off it.
The British first stirred up this hornets nest in the early 20th Century, with corporate profit being the "brass ring" at the expense of those who lived there and the lives of their families, this has continued, UNABATED, with the inclusion of the US poking the hornets nest decades after the UK started. Democratic regimes were replaced with dictatorships by the west in Syria, Iran, Iraq, beginning in the late forties and continually since. Guess what? .....the people that lived there didn't appreciate it, and resisted. And so the west chased it's tail some more and picked up the hornets nest and started shaking it.
"They hate our way of life"
You blame them?
If that way of life finds you as an oppressed person what would you do?
What did your "Colonies" do when oppressed by the king in the name of profit?
Lesseee' if we poke the hornets nest and they fight back, ....poke it some more, ....yeah that's the ticket!"

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/9/2005 7:13:44 PM | Grog27, Your insults and opinions of how america conducts it military affairs are not important since you have never been involved in any type military operation. Your acting like we haven't dealt with this country(Iraq) before. Maybe try and make a better argument by telling me a country out of the blue the US just attacked for its threats.
Just willing to attack any country on earth under these pretenses. What an arrogrant attitude.
|
| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/9/2005 7:17:21 PM | | You can redress the same old argument. I agree, with our president. I would not be willing to gamble the possibility of 1000s of american deaths if there was any percent of being wrong. | |
|
| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/9/2005 7:32:56 PM | Then why stop focusing on the group who did it? Those who are, without question, a threat to American lives?

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/9/2005 7:35:54 PM | He was wrong, and 1000's of Americans died in Iraq, the idea that invading Iraq COST American lives is a fact, that it saved American lives? political rhetoric based on logical fallacy
....the totals of Iraqi civilian deaths?
What's an Iraqi life worth compared to an American one, ....is there a ratio you have in mind?
No hard numbers yet, some say they are in the hundreds of thousands.
It was colonial and imperialist meddling for profit that lit the fuse on this one.
This curried the resentment that brought the killing TO American soil......
Let's see
Root cause - Effect
Effect - root cause
Root cause - effect
But, if one American life is worth thousands of Iraqi ones?
Then, lets shed the blood of others, hold our heads up high and be proud that we could find at the end of all this killing.
A few people, very few ....... with a whole lot more money.
Gamble 1000s of lives?
Hoo Raw! .... let's roll the dice! the house always wins, ......no matter who loses.

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/9/2005 7:45:52 PM | Since you or I have not had to make a decision that could cost that many american lives how can you dismiss america lives for Saddam and his gang of thugs. You keep acting he was the perfect leader of the Iraq people. Glad he is gone and very proud of George W. Bush for making the right decision to protect American lives. In terms you can understand Thank You George W. Bush You Are A Great American. | |

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/9/2005 8:04:59 PM | Certified...
How does you comment about 4 hostages address my statement that
"I was under the impression that expressing oneself in a logical, civil, and respectable manner was a perfectly democratic way to conduct oneself."
Remember, that was my response to your asking why we don't do more then just talk about and try to do something about it.
Actually, come to think of it...you suggested that we should do more then talk, then you say the people who are doing more then talking (i.e. working against the us in iraq) are going to die...
You are arguing against yourself...
Try next time to present a position that is not based from emotion, and employs some logic.

No, disgusted at those who did so for the mighty dollar, ...follow the money
Glad he is gone and very proud of George W. Bush for making the right decision to protect American lives.
Unlike you, I can't be complacent about the hundreds of thousands who aren't with us, American or otherwise, since he's been on the job

Canadian Companies Get Crack at Iraq Contracts By Darren Yourk
http://www.globalpolicy.org/security/issues/iraq/after/2004/0113canadacontracts.htm
BAGHDAD: Iraq’s oil ministry has awarded the country’s first post-war oilfield development contracts to Turkish and Canadian firms, an oil official said on Thursday.
Turkey’s Everasia won the contract to develop the Khurmala Dome field in the north and Canada’s Ironhorse Oil & Gas Inc will develop the Himrin field, said the official who declined to be named. If approved by the cabinet, the agreements will be the first oil deals with foreign firms Iraq has struck since the end of Saddam Hussein’s rule.
The news knocked over half the value off shares in Petrel Resources, a small Irish exploration company, which said on its website it had been hoping to develop Khurmala.
The projects aim to realise Khurmala’s potential to produce 100,000 barrels per day (bpd) and raise output at the Himrin field. The ministry is still studying offers for another contract to raise the output of the Suba-Luhais field from 50,000 to 180,000 bpd. reuters

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/9/2005 8:49:46 PM | My point exactly, Iraqi oil is being pieced out to corporate interests, not to the Iraqi people.
Until the '60s it was BP, Iraq never saw a penny of oil revenue until 1965, not one red cent.
Corporate entities serve no nationality, they serve themselves.
Who awarded them this contract?
Mr. Bush said. "Right now, they're eligible for sub-contracting bids in the first round of construction projects. In the second round, Canada will be eligible to bid."
Uh, I mean "sub-contract".
I'm tryin' to follow the money, ...it doesn't seem to be leading to those who live where the oil is.
History repeats, corporate pillaging continues.....
For this over a hundred thousand die.
|
| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/9/2005 9:02:39 PM | First off you have to have corporations that have the ability (equipment, technology, ..etc) to actually do the job. What Iraq companies do you know give me a list of Iraq companies whom have bid on Iraq contracts and had the company resources to complete the job.
Most foriegn contractors must use a certain percent of local help to be awarded a contract.

A pittance compared to the amounts that end up out of the country.
The money spent in rebuilding, let it stay in Iraq if the motives are honourable.
"We're spending money on Iraq" .......they get a few menial labour jobs. Hurrah!
Did you know that the monies that certain western governments pledged at the G8 conference, for Africa.....
Was transferred to pay off Iraqi debt? .......guess where all those foreign aid dollars end up;
That money that's supposed to be the "good things" we western nations do......?
Follow the money
No. no Bush hater here, check my posts, I've never said a thing about Bush, nor have I said anything supporting Hussien.
Nope.
The real crimes are hidden behind that dog and pony show, fortunately they're a matter of record.

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/9/2005 9:34:34 PM | To me this is not a major concern at this time. Where were you when Saddam was building his 80 palaces and raping Iraq monatarly for all he could. At least the Iraqi people get something in return for their money. Most these companies have the resources to do the job. I am not sure which Iraqi companies have the capability. You know how many millions the military found hidden from the Iraqi people. | |
|
| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/9/2005 9:52:18 PM | 1. Pre-1990, Iraqis had the best living conditions, in the ME. 2. The palaces, that were finished, after 1991, were contracted before 1991. 3. Iraq was not allowed to use its cash, to purchase imported goods. 4. Oil-for-food credit, was not allowed to be used for salaries...they needed cash for that. 5. Iraqis managed electricity, oil, and water levels, comparable to the present situation, even while major imports (to repair the electrical, oil, and water sectors) were being withheld from them. They are very intelligent, and resourceful.
Not a major concern?
Investigators expect more arrests over Iraq reconstruction funds: http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/politics/13356449.htm
US policies have had a hand in killing as many Iraqis, as Saddam has, have been involved in indescriminate punishments, torture, and they've disappeared as much money, as he has.

Wondering why he was helped into the position to do so, wondering why he was in bed with the US.
Most these companies have the resources to do the job.
Look at the "Corporate Entity" in the eyes of DSM-IV, their whole raison d'tre is to take as much as they can while leaving as little as possible.
To more precisely assess the "personality" of the corporate "person," using actual diagnostic criteria of the World Health Organization and the DSM-IV, the standard diagnostic tool of psychiatrists and psychologists. The operational principles of the corporation give it a highly anti-social "personality": It is self-interested, inherently amoral, callous and deceitful; it breaches social and legal standards to get its way; it does not suffer from guilt, yet it can mimic the human qualities of empathy, caring and altruism: the institutional embodiment of laissez-faire capitalism fully meets the diagnostic criteria of a "psychopath."
At least the Iraqi people get something in return for their money.
Time will tell, they aren't back to where they were before the invasion yet.
If it turns out for the better in the long run, I will be the first to stand and applaud, ....so far it doesn't look any different than what's come before.
You know how many millions the military found hidden from the Iraqi people.
I wouldn't be surprised, when the west has a hand in installing dictators in that region, ...it's never good.
