| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/26/2005 5:10:28 PM | I protested against the war before the first bomb fell on Baghdad. I never believed that America is on some great grand ****ing crusade to liberate anyone. America looks out for America. And America has gratefully allied itself with some of the most ruthless and oppressive dictators of our time, including Saddam Hussein, for the sake of a convenient relationship. The only thing that changed with Saddam was he was no longer convenient. He made trouble, he threatened the flow of cheap oil. He had to go. If Saddam played his cards right not only would he still be in charge of his country, he'd be America's best friend, and not a single person across the whole country of America, liberal or conservative, couldn't live long enough to give a shit how ruthless a dictator he was.
Just look at Saudi Arabia or Kuwait for proof of that.
I only hope the Republicans win the next election for the White House so they inherit the mess they made of Iraq and don't have any other party to blame for it.

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/26/2005 6:55:22 PM | Now all you posters Sing along with Lee and I. We will give all Canadians honorable US Status for this special time
If tomorrow all the things were gone I’d worked for all my life, And I had to start again with just my children and my wife. I’d thank my lucky stars to be living here today, ‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me. And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today. ‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee, across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA, Well, there’s pride in every American heart, and it’s time to stand and say:
I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me. And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today. ‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/27/2005 7:13:59 AM | Well, x, there's been 3 wars (Iran-Iraq, Gulf I, Gulf II), 3 civil war type conflicts (Kurds 70s, Kurds 80s, Kurds/Shia 91), plus continous Kurdish infighting. Just finding graves, will, unfortunately, prove nothing. Also unfortunate, is that human rights groups, like HRW and Amnesty, who've tried to document as many of Saddam's abuses as possible, are now trying to be discredited, by those who feel the need to protect Bush policy.
I've also asked before...what would the US do, in the face of violent rebellions? It seems like the answer is that they would respond with violence, too.

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/27/2005 10:58:59 AM | Slowdazzler.......... I never said kill all Arabs! I never said attack Jordan....Isreal.....Saudi Arabia....or the other surrounding nations around Iraq.....I SAID IRAQ! Now.... we will eventually have to deal with Iran and Syria but I would hope they are smarter than Saddam was and will not make us do it! I do not consider non nuclear or non gas bombs as wmd's.....If you do....you need to learn the difference! And why not drop 50,000 bombs on Baghdad? or Tikrit?.....Lets make a Disney land east! Having been there I can tell you how easy this would be! Why lose another US soldier or coalition soldier over some damn sand! If this war is really about oil as most anti-war people think.....Lets get to the business of getting what we came for! The safest way and the most economical....kill everyone in sight and fill up your tanks! | |

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/27/2005 1:39:46 PM | They are doing it the safest, and most economical, way...for the corporations, by having taxpayers' money pay for it. Making parking lots, would totally freak out the entire region, even more than it is. Making parking lots, might even freak out many Americans, and support would drop.

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/27/2005 8:15:48 PM | My very good friend had his Xmas meal on the hood of his hum-V and then went out in to the streets of Bagdad for his daily patrol, I'm sure all the great people that have put the troops down would gladly give up there Xmas with there family to take this great Pte's position on Christmas day eh? The Kids over there are fighting for each other. Again I'm not blasting anyone for there stance on this war, All wars are BAD! I just want to point out that there are America greatest sons/daughters over there in that hell hole and God bless every one of them and let the powers that be bring them all home safe in the new year.
Miss ya Dave, God Bless I'll have the Keith's cold and waiting for ya when you get back!

And after seening how bad it is there you can better understand why it's so important to suport the troops and see how much good some troop are doing.
Not try'n to start a fight here boys just some food for thought

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/27/2005 9:25:21 PM | Change what, from the inside? It's the politicians who make the policies...not your average GI. And, I'm sure as hell not going to be a politician.

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/27/2005 9:37:05 PM | I really don't think that's what "sign up for the Army" means.

You should take the chance if you get it Too many people will sit back and complain about the standard of their government; but you get back what you put in
To just say "I will never be in Government" means you really don't care about things We can complain as much as we like; but if we don't get involved, nothing will change
One person would find it hard to make changes But lots of people could effect those same changes fairly easily
Politicians rely on outside people not wanting to be involved They know they are in positions of power They protect those positions as best they can Bringing new people into their very protected environment, is not considered a good thing, unless the new people are dedicated to strict party lines It will take ordinary people to break this stranglehold .. .

Like so many others you wrongly equate anti-war with anti-troops.

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/29/2005 8:17:30 AM | I'd support the troops by not sending them into an illegal war without a post war plan and instead have them hunt for BinLaden.. Now that they are there, I dont think those that sent them can make it any better without admiting they where wrong in the first place, which is highly unlikely, so I'd like to see Bush etc have their hands prised from the driving wheel, they drove into the ditch and cannot drive us out. | |

Slow: That is why America and Americans are damn glad you will never be the Commander In Chief you would not do what was in the best interest of the National Security of America and many more Americans would have died due to your negligence and indecisiveness.
Thank God For George W. Bush

So deciding to go after the real threat to the US, Bin Laden, is not in the best interest of the national security of America?

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/29/2005 11:17:16 AM | | I believe the US government knows where Osama Bin laden is and is propbably monitoring everything he does. I think that by not capturing him it is in the best interest of the US. You saw how the morons acted when Saddam was captured. Can you imagine what it would be like if Osama was? | |

| Are you against the War? Posted: 12/29/2005 11:53:59 AM | | Time for the regular reminder that the goings-on in Iraq do NOT qualify as a "war" but, rather, an illegal invasion and occupation. Some people seem to keep forgetting that little point, hoping, perhaps, that calling it a "war" will lend it a bit more credibility. (Sorry, it won't.) | |
