| Pet Peeves Posted: 1/31/2006 12:47:07 PM | Of the day's annoyances, these:
Whenever I say 'counter-evolutionary', people think I'm saying 'counter-revolutionary'. This may explain why 'counter-evolutionary' is not a commonly used term, but it still pisses me off.
And speaking of counter-evolutionary, a kid in the States throttled himself to death with his computer cord while trying to get high on oxygen deprivation. Anyone who thinks humans are the smartest things on the planet just made my list of things to do today.

| Pet Peeves Posted: 3/8/2006 10:05:25 AM | aaahhh...the good ole hypocrites of this world (and no..I'm not talking about you at all)...what would we do without them??
Always making life SO much more enjoyable!!

| Pet Peeves Posted: 7/4/2006 6:51:58 AM | People that crack their fingers and knuckles. It's pretty annoying. I've had to ask them to stop doing it.
Also guys that IM you, even after you ask that they do not do this. They obviously don't know how to read a profile.
Drivers that wait till the last minute to put their signal on, almost causing the people behind them to get into an accident.
| |
|
| Pet Peeves Posted: 7/4/2006 6:56:21 AM | | It isn''t the IM''s I mind, but lately I am finding people sending an IM request but not saying anything first. Are they waiting for me to say hello first? It isn''t going to happen, it would be the same as someone phoning and just breathing into the phone! Hmmmmm come to think of it, I have had that happen too! hehe | |

|
| Pet Peeves Posted: 7/4/2006 7:18:38 AM | All mine are driving related
My car doesn't have a hemi in it... =(x (Biggest pet-peeve) People who switch lanes with out signals. People who wait till I am flying up on their ass(less then a car length) to decide to get into my lane(again with out a turn signal). People who run stops signs or roll through them and making me brake/travel under speed limit(if someone has to brake because you pulled out infront of them it means you shouldn't of pulled out) if your going to pass me.. please do not go under speed limit once infront of me..LOL that totally pisses em off(why did you pass me in the first place) Never a cop around when someone runs a cross walk with people in it/other cars stopped
|
| Pet Peeves Posted: 7/4/2006 7:37:35 AM | libbym - under mail settings, you can select "NO" for "Allow instant messages". I think it turns the option off altogether, but perhaps it just disables the option for people to contact you that way, but doesn''t disallow you to contact others using IM. I haven''t tried that myself, although I do have IM off and that works. Anyone serious about contacting you will introduce themselves in a PM. Give it a try, and good luck!
edit: I posted this here as I couldn''t PM her/you.

| Pet Peeves Posted: 7/4/2006 10:35:57 AM | thank you luvsdogs. I had disabled the IM before, but took it off temporarily, but I have to put it on again because of some of the people that contact a person. Some of the men out there forget that we are ladies and they''re out on the prowl. It''s enough to make you not trust any of them.
Another pet peeve of mine are people that are verbally and physically abusive towards animals, calling them dumb and other names. Animals are very intelligent and have rights to be treat humanely.

| Re: Pet Peeves Posted: 7/4/2006 10:45:22 AM | "Pet Peeves"
- people who dont put the toilet seat down - When you have to reach up inside those toilet paper machines, those low end machines, why are they so low anyway? or out of toilet paper - this is a good one, (when someone doesnt flush the toilet) especially those public ones, now thats disgusting, who says you have to use your hand, just use your feet, that''s what I do - not washing their hands after using the washroom (gross) I use paper towel to touch the taps anyways when I wash mine - people who dont move there school bags on a bus, for someone to sit down, or stretch out their legs so you cant move to get off the bus - people who chat anyway in a grocery store, who dont move when you want to get by
got plenty more, but leave it at that for now hahaha
|
| Re: Pet Peeves Posted: 7/4/2006 11:47:52 AM | People who post their pet peeves in forums
and now me | |

| Re: Pet Peeves Posted: 7/4/2006 12:29:40 PM | 1) People who eat, or are chewing gum, when talking to me on the phone, especially if they're the ones that called me up. Are you THAT pressed for time that you can't eat your damn food before you call me? That pretty much applies to the idiot Americans I have to talk to at work every day. If only there was a machine which allowed me to kick someone in the kidneys over the phone...
2) People who shove me out of the way when I'm trying to look at or buy something. There's a reason I don't go to flea markets anymore.
3) People who say "know what I'm saying", or its abridged cousin, "nahmsain" after every sentence.
4) More amusing that annoying, people who misuse the word "literally".
"I literally beat the crap out of him!"
If so, there where's the feces?
5) The big one: Negativity. OK, you can fire the hypocrisy torpedos. The odd bit of ****ing is fine. In fact, it keeps us from growing (even more) insane. Don't do it every damn second of the day, though. I'm pretty much describing some of the people I work with. I love them to death, and I know work is pretty crappy right now, but don't compound the problem by whining about it all the time. It just makes it worse.
Whew.

| Re: Pet Peeves Posted: 7/4/2006 1:21:25 PM | pet peeves huh?
well.......i dont have many......or maybe i do
1. In this day and age, when someone buys a house they should have to pay tax for upkeep of such services as...well whatever..........but no person living in this big ole country of canada should ever have to worry about losing their homes because of property tax.
2. Scrap the income tax, its time.
3. Put major taxes on all goods and services that are considered a luxury.
4. Stop making seniors live like beggars and give fair justice to them all.
5. Appreciate freedom and make sure its appreciated in the school system.
6. Start teaching in the school system that to touch another person, wether its sexually, physically or mentally. There will be penalties to be paid. Forget about so much sex ed and try and teach them that girls have got the poopy end of the stick for many generations.
7. Keep kids in school longer.
8. Try and teach all children that just because Brittney Spears has made more money than Carlos Santana and all the musicians he has worked with in the past 40 yrs. Doesnt mean shes something to be worshipped or idolized. Talent is god given and unfortunately image is man made.
9. Allot 10 percent of all fiscal government budgets to go to the poor annually.
10. Make the work week 4 days.
11. Allow people to vote for elections over the internet.
12. When someone abuses a child, over and over again. Please keep them in jail. Let them learn education, have a couple free meals and a bed to lay their head. But don't ever give them freedom.
13. When you die, everyone gets cremated. Stop putting diseases into Mother earths ground.
more to come later..........this is just a rant and in no way shape or form do i expect anyone to agree with it all. Just a rant.........cheers :)

| Re: Pet Peeves Posted: 7/24/2006 5:40:54 AM | For anyone who works in retail...I'm sure you can relate...Why is it that when people have an issue with something they are returning, a good 80% of the time, they take their "anger" out on you? Like you had something "personal" to do with what is wrong with their product. And do "some" consumers really believe that the more hateful you are, the better service you will get? LOL...ummm...not from me ya won't....lol!!!!! | |
|
| Re: Pet Peeves Posted: 7/24/2006 5:49:47 AM | | I don't know about you, but I find customers have gotten worse. Glad to hear its not just in my area of retail. I am to the point that I don't want to even own my own company any more because its just not worth dealing with the horrendous attitude of customers. You could give them something for free and they could still find something to be ignorant about. When did people become so damn ignorant? | |
|
| Re: Pet Peeves Posted: 7/24/2006 5:59:57 AM | | I worked retail for 1 1/2 years...I hated customers who were rude...but for myself I didn't have to deal with them as they we not rude to me.. I have 9 tattoo's and all of them on my arms and because of that(I think) they were not rude with me, and it allowed me to do things my co-workers couldn't at wal-mart..like if I seen a customer freaking out at another cashier or associate..i'd walk right up to them and ask why are you freaking out at my co-worker...most stop freaking out after that..the others would just ask for a manager then freak out at them instead. | |

Capitalism, the USA, Israel, corporations, mass media, intellectual property, unions, the disempowerment of people inherent in modern democracy, people who can't see the forest and take offense at the very first tree, racism, feminism, chauvenism, selfishness, arrogant women who look at you like you just crawled out from under a rock when you smile at them walking down the street
