| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 12/15/2005 1:33:10 PM | | Definitely...My dogs usually lower my blood pressure when I come home from a bad day at work...like no other person can. The reason being is that they don't ask for any excuses, any reasons, or anything. They just come up to you and snuggle up and everything is at once, in the right order. | |

| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 12/15/2005 3:44:56 PM | NO animal is as important or more important than ANY human being EVER. (sorry for the caps, I'm not sure if the forum uses italics)
We love animals so much because there is an innate nurturing instinct in most of us. Unfortunately, a lot of people's runs out when the animal is no longer cute and cuddly.
Yes, some people care about pets more than their own family and kind and it is WRONG! That from personal experience.
When you begin to think of an animal in the same way you think of a human being, you "loving" too much. People are people and animals are animals.
Don't get it in your mind that I hate animals. I just have had too much experience with them. I like animals and most of them like me. I just believe that it is wrong to put them on the same level as humans.

| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 12/15/2005 10:30:06 PM | Hell yeah they are .... a dog may pee on your rug but they will NEVER break your heart!
In case you can't tell from my screen name... my girls are my children.
Dogs are the best. They love us no matter what mistakes we make & except us for who we are. They don't hold things against us ....
How many times can you say that about people?

| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 12/15/2005 10:48:59 PM | | Well puppymama... you can't! All my doggies have stores with them.. they were all given to me for some reason. The C**ker Spaniel that I found in the middle of a hiwy in GA... when I come home she is so cute.. she runs just as fast as she can to my truck... well they all do except my boys who stay inside. It's like they are just so happy that I'm finally home for them to get talked to and fed and petted... I love it... | |

| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 12/15/2005 11:59:35 PM | | I believe pets are just as important as people. Pets serve a different kind of love. We have unconditional love for our children, family and our pets. I went through a number of surgeries in my lifetime. My dog never left my side...Ever! Now that is love!!! | |

There is no such thing as loving someone, be it animal or human, "too much". One can't measure their love, on different levels....in relation to whether they are human or animal. Animals have a soul...just like the rest of us. Because they have less intellectual capacity than that of humans, does not make them any less worthy of our total and undying love.

| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 12/16/2005 8:31:04 PM | As much as i love my animals ,I would never say they are less or more important then any living thing. ALL life should be valued. For the person that said they love animals and hate humans ,I think you have some issues. | |

| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 12/16/2005 8:49:30 PM | Animals are low in value compared to people as with the example of millions being killed every year. Animals like children and senior citizens are the most vunerable of our society.
I think its in our nature to feel compassion for those that are weaker. These are the members in our society that are all less able to protect themselves from the dangers in life so we feel more comparision then i would to someone that can take care of themselves just fine.

Exactly, humans cause Global-Warming by increasing "Greenhouse Gas Emissions" from the vehicles they invented, and the industrial factories that produce them. Animals on the other hand, are smart enough not to destroy their own environment. The human species is a corrupt and sinful breed. Greedy power controls and maintains the human societies we live in. Animals however are free of greed and sin. They are as "pure" of heart and soul as a new-born baby human. They don't pollute, kill for money, torment and abuse eachother or other species. ...(unlike the human species) In my opinion, animals are very much smarter than humans, not on an intellectual level, but more on a innocent and respectful level.

| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 12/17/2005 5:20:52 AM | I am surprised this thread is still going strong I view my dogs as being as important as any people I know...they are part of my family, and are treated as such. I do believe that so many people do not give credit where credit is due regarding animals and intelligence. Sure, dogs cannot speak any language, but they can communicate. Most can also can "sense" danger a lot quicker than any human. They have a stronger sense in that department than we do. Ever read about the dogs that can detect breast cancer? I think human have a tendency to consciously overlook the intelligence of other creatures because of their need to believe humans are the best in every department. | |

What is SO SMART about being capable of and causing pollution? It's quite stupid to knowingly do if you ask me! And yes, animals can communicate and talk. They cannot type words on a computer, but they are more than capable of verbalizing and communicating their likes, dislikes, wants, and needs. The trouble is, are YOU smart enough to understand their language? I know that I am, but it is most likely you are lacking the capacity to understand them, as you appear to be far too self-centered to acknowledge anything that has no direct benefit upon YOU. P.S.- this is not an argument... it is merely the statement of opposing viewpoints:
