Poorgie,
Glad you like Whitman's poem about animals. I only posted one line so I'll post several more lines.

"I stand and look at them (animals) long and long
They do not sweat and whine about their condition
They do no lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins
They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God
Not one is dissatisfied, not one is demented with the mania of owning things
So they show their relations to me and I accept them"

That Whitman spent a lifetime writing just one book of poems - "Leaves of Grass" but what an incredible book and what an incredible life.

I was just talking to someone tonight and negative feelings, takes too much energy. THAT is why we have our pets, to help with our positive energy. Well, ok.. when they destroy what part of the house they can... my feelings are NOT happy ones. I can just picture them like the "gremlins" HEY... MOMMY is gone... let's P A R T Y !!! when I picture that... well hell I just think of myself and smile.

Very well said....... Bravo

poorgie... What is it that makes you think you know my dogs emotions and behavior better than me? You have very obviously never had the love of a pet..... But then as stated earlier pets are an excellent judge of character so it is no wonder they don't care for you.. By the way sentence is not spelled sentance and communicate has an I in it......... Gee you sure look smart to me

HaHaHa! Rofl... Thank you so much for correcting my views and spelling to boot. I don't think I know your pets... I think I know dogs in general. Never did I say that I knew your dogs personality. Now why would I know about dogs.... maybe cause I own one. And just so you know, I don't care if you think I am smart or not, but I am smart about animal behavior. So since you will not answer some simple questions as to what your pets do when you tell them a whole list of instructions maybe I should stop asking. I highly doubt your animal will keep a list then do exactly what you told your pet to do unless you drilled your pet beforehand. Communicate was spelled wrong?

YW....... Fighting never solved anything........ Everybody has their own opinion and just because we don't all agree doesn't make any of us wrong...

I would naturally save a child before an animal, but would do my best if at all possible to save both.........

Some people are just too prideful to walk away and let someone else have the last word, I guess.

I prefer animals to people. People are never innocent. Animals are always innocent. But they make lousy lovers. LOL

This is exactly what I say when it comes to why animals can be so loved. It is the same when it comes to babies. They don't have the developed intelligence grown adults have and do not understand things like politics, social development, stress, and psycology, but they do understand what they feel on the inside when someone takes good care of them. This pertaining to both animals and babies. Most animals anyway.

Has there ever been a story when a dog neglected their owner/friend when they are treated good? Maybe the few that go crazy because of undetermined factors, but other than that, a pet will never betray their friend for things like money, sex, drugs, and power like a person would.

With 6 dogs around, 5 cats, 1 parakeet, 2 turtles, fish and 3 horses... I can tell plenty of good stories!!! We're always sitting around watching the critters and talking for them. We can totally entertain ourselves. I wish I could do it with a video.. those animals coudl make me a fortune, but for now.. I'll just pretend i know what they are thinking/saying and keep laughing.

People who come to my house are always commenting on how all my animals have "personality"... then they look at me.. and say "oh.. duh.. no wonder"...

[oh yes sammy, there is a definite line there. human life is far more important to me than any animal, but i still love my animals. i would save the baby, but i would cry for the puppy.]

Thats because you are a human .
Humans tent to think humans [their own kind ] are more important .
That doesnt mean in Gods eyes or in the total scheme of existance ,that we are more important .

I also think me and Poorgie have different Gods or we just have different beliefs of who GOD is.

My belief in GOD is closer to that of the American Indian and the way we talk to him is through talking and interacting with all living things.
When you love on your dog or do a favor for that nice lady down the road or just try to be your higher self ,you are living in GOD.
My God made man and animals and he doesnt make junk.
The fact that they are here contemperaneously means they have is much right to this planet as we do.
I see no proof other than a couple examples of mans written word that animals are inferior, which means nothing.

There is definitely something to that. My daughter and I have a Pug and we can't decide if we got lucky and just picked the right puppy for us or if her personality is a reflection of ours. She is amazingly funny, sweet, and fiesty and I can't imagine life without her.

GoodDay.. people ask me.. HOW do you always pick calm fun dogs... and I'm like, hmmm... I had to think about it. But then I realized the TYPE of time I spend with them. I have friends with negative attitudes.. and their dogs (my room mates) are totally spastic!! My roomie has a white shepard.. and honestly... the more time I'm with her the more she calms down. But she is VERY unsociable.. and will hardly go up to anyone.. soemtimes not even me...

Kenn: My beliefs are closer to the Native American ways also. God (higher being) created us all for a purpose. Dogs (pets) are obviously here to make us happy and protect us. Yes we make them happy and protect and take care of them also... gee... see how smart that was... it just all works out for the best in both. We compliment each other and share the earth.

You all are fat, ugly, poor and just really screwed up in the head. Go commit suicide you losers! Most of you illiterate welfare trash can't even type in english.

The circus fired me, my problem is glandular, thanks for asking(learned that here by the way, gooooo forums) ugly is subjective, lack of wealth has a cure, I'm in therapy, you should use the word has as opposed to is, social outcast is a bad thing you say? and do tell where is it you've seen me.
My critique? you have an endless fascination with small barnyard animals and their netherregions, like to dress in your sisters clothing, consider yourself above everyone largely due to an instable family life, the fact you would suggest suicide as a cheer would point to your own self destruction or mutilation fantasies, you have been without human partnered sex for quite some time, you are frustrated, lack simple conversational skill, are way too self conscious and finally I'd like to welcome you to the forums. You're right, no one here is perfect, well maybe one but she's busy, we're all working to improve our images. How's yours coming along?

But I disagree with the dog thinking the owner will never come back, you have to give dogs some credit,

Grrrrrrrrr...I hate being wrong!! Ok, ok....I stand corrected. Had a look in numerous sites, in regards to separation anxiety....and does not mention anything in regards to my statement...old wive's tale? *shrugs*

Soooo...you got me on that one. But...as for all your other posts?

I've had pets I've cried over, sat up nights over, grieved over, laughed with and at, enjoyed immensely: cats, dogs, horses, parakeets, snakes, chickens. But they have never been more important to me than the significant people in my life - my parents, my siblings, my friends. Important, absolutely but no trade off for the comfort, love and joy expressed and shared with the humans in my life. This doesn't detract from what my pets have given me; it's just love in a different form. But no my humans are first to me.
