| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 4/12/2006 7:08:24 AM | | I got my 3 year old Mini Schnauzer, Jack just 2 days before Christmas last year. He was in such terrible condition he might have died from the neglect tht he had suffered. He has changed my life, and I have changed his. He has become the best freind I have ever had in my life and the best companion I could have ever asked for. I am sure it will break my heart when he finally passes on, but I am hoping that it will be a long time away. | |

I'd give anything to have him back and I miss him more than words. Are pets as important as people? hell yes....and sometimes they are far better. Jock stay'd by my side 14 years unconditionally and I involved him in every aspect of my life. Everyone knew him. I miss that little bugger.

| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 5/1/2006 11:51:22 AM | why can't you love a dog as much as a human I love my dogs as much as I love my son. If it were not for them being worker breeds I would treat them as I treat my son. But that would put both of our lives in danger so I cannot, so I make sure they know there place, are taken care of and are loved. I have one currently being used as a pillow by my son on my bed and one at my feet wrapped around them; all three children asleep happily.
so love you dogs the way you choose and if anyone bugs ya about it...tell your dog to bite them
If anyone were to bug me about it incessively they would not be worth my time or be worth the life of either of my dogs...which is what my dogs would loose if I were to give that command. Maxi is a doberman, german shepard, husky mix-big azz dog, big azz chompers. Heidi is 1/2 daschaund, 1/4 bullmastiff 1/8 pittbull and 1/8 hound, short but stout and all mouth; figuratively and literally speaking. Big azz chompers.

Actually people do love their pets more than other humans.
As much as I do love my cat, Mazoo, there's limits. He's a great cat, and I really enjoying hanging out talking with him. However, I did date someone once who literally did believe animals were more important then humans. Needless to say, that relationship ended. I could never be with someone like that. It's infuriating when you're in a serious relationship, and there's NO food in the house, yet the dog is fed before you are so you starve *yes this has happened to me* and if the dog wants to sleep between the two of you and you voice an objection, (we lived together) then it's either tolerate it or break up.... etc etc. I just don't understand people like that.
My animals are great, but I don't believe in giving an animal human food (it's for HUMANS and it's expensive) except of course occasionally as a snack or treat, then it's fine in my opinion. If I'm going in to my burning house to rescue someone, it's my husband or child or both that I'm after ... then depending on if I'm CERTAIN I can make it out ok... then go on and retrieve the pet if at all possible. If not, humans come first... I hate to put it this way but this is something I've often wondered about and simply don't understand how someone could love a pet as much as a human. Love them, yes of course I understand that... but the same amount or more then a human companion?? This makes no sense to me.

| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 5/1/2006 6:05:13 PM | pets.... I have around 200 animals I take care of and they take care of me. In some regards I can say that the animals (which I see as pets) are more important to me than humans. They keep the bills paid. I cherrish my relationshops I have with people and I see the relationship I have with my animals totally different than what I find in a human relationship.

I have a pet gator Wally, he is not exactly effectionate cute and cuddly but he is facinating.
I raise boxers, I live with 4 of them and a prerequisite for dating me is one must except my pets and I as a package.
I also receive unconditional love from my horses. I go out to the pasture and they come running to get they're loving. Just something about a gentle kiss on cheek from a 1300# horse.
As for the sicko's that keep talking about sex with animals they need to be gelded.
As for the tasty animals remarks I eat meat and like it fine but there is a definate differance between pets and livestock and if you desire to eat peoples pets you are as sick as the cannibal that was just recently arrested for eating that little girl.

Posted: 5/1/2006 8:56:50 PM | | I feel pets share as much emotion as we do.For instance when your very upset your dog usually comes up to you and puts its head on your lap or will lick your hand or sumthin like that...I dont think you can love a pet too much, like if you've had it for a couple years it to me would be considerd family in a way...Just like family, if it dies than of course we'll be upset.

"pets are not the same as..." this one always baffles me-what DOES make one living being DIFFERENT from another? just one's own determination of WHO'S life is WORTHY of existence
sadly, human animals do this to one another ALSO

| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 5/2/2006 6:17:43 PM | | I have cats and each one is different. I don't have children and don't intend to, so to me they are my children. I love them as I would one of my children. My mom asked me once if she was dying and my cat was dying who I would take to the hospitol first. Of course it would be my mom, but I had to say whichever one of you were in worse condition. If it comes down to me eating or my cats, they will be feed first.I took resposibility for them when I let them into my home and my heart. Most people I know think I love them too much, but their not afraid of being treated to good. People can be scared of that.If their sick I take them to the vet, no matter what the cost. (Another thing that totally confusses my mom)Because no matter how much money I have to spend, I'll never be able to pay back the love they've givin' me. To me the only difference between humans and animals, is that humans talk in words. Animals talk in actions. | |

| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 5/2/2006 6:23:37 PM | | For sure, pets are as important as people. They're your dedicated, furry little loved ones and when everyone else lets you down, they're always there to cheer us up. I never planned on as many fun times as my cat has actually provided. | |

| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 5/2/2006 6:29:22 PM | Well Moon.......glad to see you didn't "starve". You've apparently lived to tell the tale.
Why could you not feed yourself?

| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 5/2/2006 7:58:30 PM | I adopted my Pit Bull from a guy I know...and to be honest with you, I was a bit leery at first. I had the ignorant view that some people have, in regards to Pit Bulls. It's the smartest thing I ever did...in regards to pet ownership.
I've NEVER been without a pet...so, I've had a lot of pets in my lifetime. My Pit Bull is the kindest, most giving and loyal animal I have ever owned. You can take a bone right out of his mouth, and all he does is look at you with sad eyes....there's not too many dogs that will let you do this. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body...hell, he's scared of the cat!!
Because of his personality, I am forever head over heels in love with this dog....yep, I said in love. If anything ever happened to him, I would most definitely morn his death, as I would any living being, which I am close to. He too, possesses a soul...and deserves the same love that he bestows. Animals most definitely are just as important as people...IMO.

| Are pets as important as people? Posted: 5/2/2006 8:16:47 PM | Presently I have 4 dogs, Tarzan, Rosie, Rio and Rockie aka Mr. Smoochie, hence my profile name which is my id on every cyber site I need an ID. My highest number of dogs at one time was 13. I know that I would not survive without at least one dog. I was never physicaly able to have children and I admit it my dogs are my family. Love me you have to love dogs ! They are always there for you, greet you when you come home, know when to give you space and listen to your every word and emotion.
I love this following quote about dogs and man
"God created man; then seeing how weak he was, gave him the dog" Toussenel
